Fighting Champion |
‘I feel you’ by Depeche Mode still echoes through The Gate City View Arena as Rob Riot looks around the capacity crowd. Nodding slightly, he’s now taken the first step toward his goal. Victoria Elspeth – Step one, complete! Rob Riot went on record saying that not winning the GCW Championship was one of few black marks in his long and storied career. With the win here tonight, he will now be guaranteed a chance to correct it! Riot raises the Festival of Fights plaque while the fans cheer, showing their appreciation not just for the tournament champion, but to everyone who had stepped between the ropes! Joey LaDude – Absolutely Victoria, Rob Riot just guaranteed he will get an opportunity to compete for the GCW Championship! Riot climbs the second turnbuckle to stand looking out across the sea of humanity, raising the plate one final time for the benefit of those with flash photography… Victoria Elspeth – And there you have it, after a crazy night of action, your Festival of Fights Champion…Rob Ri…what!? The cheers turn to shock as Chris Parsons low blows the celebrating Riot before setting him up for a powerbomb! Joey LaDude – Hey Vic, isn’t that your boyfriend who just punched Riot right in his riot stars? Victoria Elspeth – Parsons? No…well yes that’s Parsons, but no…I’m actually in the middle of a…look Parsons has him…powerbomb! Joey LaDude – He’s not done! Pulling what has to be an exhausted Rob Riot to his feet, Parsons hooks the arms. Twisting, he has Riot up! Victoria Elspeth – Nightmare After Party! Parsons has Riot laid out! Parsons rolls from the ring grabbing a microphone and the GCW championship from ringside. Dragging the depleted Riot Star to side of the ring facing the entrance. Parsons ties him up in the ropes, giving him a front row seat for what was about to happen. Dropping the title, Parsons eyes the Festival of Fights trophy… Victoria Elspeth – He’s not going to? Grabbing the gold plate, one he himself had held once, Parsons looks at Riot. Slumped and dangling from the ropes, he is hardly the triumphant warrior of just minutes ago. Raising it above his head… Joey LaDude – I pretty much guarantee it Victoria! Oh!!! Smashing the trophy into the skull of Rob Riot, his head snaps back to hang loose once more. Blood drips in a steady rhythm, drop by drop, collecting at his feet. Chris Parsons – Some savior you turned out to be Robbie! Walk around talking like you can walk on water! Remember, the last guy that said he could do that? He was crucified. Look Robbo… Turning his back upon the Riot Star, Parsons retrieves the GCW Championship Belt. Chris Parsons – Since you’re just gonna kinda hang there…you might as well listen. This? This always should have been mine Roberto…this one, was practically made for me. Looking from the original GCW Championship to the battered Riot, Parsons chuckles. Chris Parsons – So, to hear you…or anyone else for that matter, talk about the GCW Championship like they could ever hope to take away what I earned a thousand times over, and a thousand times again! Well, it makes me sick…watching you walk out here like this belt is already yours…no Rob…not you… Parsons raises the GCW championship with his left arm, venom practically spits forth from the crowd. Chris Parsons – We don’t need some, self-righteous, fuckwad trying to tell us he's better than us! We need someone who can do anything… The boos are near deafening, the realization was setting in. Victoria Elspeth – Do anything? That was one of his catchphrases. Parsons has a backstage role…. Joey LaDude – Yeah, so?! Victoria Elspeth – He going to name himself champion! Joey LaDude – Wait…what?! Can he do that?! Victoria Elspeth – As long as no one with more authority stops him…he can probably do whatever he wants Joey… Sensing Victoria’s hunch the crowd begins to boo. If they hadn’t pelted the ring earlier, Parsons would likely have to swim before Riot. Victoria Elspeth – Look who it is Joey, I think Parsons is about to finally get his wish! It’s C.W.! Clearly implying she, and a hefty portion of the audience, believed that C.W. was moments away from naming ‘The Nightmare’ Chris Parsons…GCW Champion. Joey LaDude – To be the GCW Champion was all Parsons ever wanted. His ‘reign’ as GwF Champion under the original GCW did nothing to soften the blow that he was never able to truly win ‘the big one’. Stepping through the curtain, the last time the GCW Financier came out, we got a huge announcement, would the silver haired man go two for two? The crowd cheering in hopes that maybe there was yet another blockbuster announcement or surprise signing! C.W. – Wait just a moment…now I might agree with a lot of what you had to say there, we do need a champion that will do what needs to be done. That’s why I’m naming the first Global Championship Wrestling Champion myself… Parsons smirks, now it was all but a formality..as C.W. makes his announcement, Parsons raises his arms in triumph, holding up the soon to be redesigned Championship belt! C.W. – The new GCW Champion is…......... Kintaru! Stepping to the side and pointing to the curtain, ‘A Nightmare to Remember’ by Dream Theater plays to a new chorus of boos. Kintaru steps through the curtain, clearly not dressed to fight. Victoria Elspeth – Parsons is beside himself, C.W. named our Champion, it’s just not Parsons! His black suit with a white shirt and this red tie had been something of a trademark of his over his career. Smirking behind his sunglasses at the scowling Parsons. The one eyed Nightmare stares at the title and chuckles before responding. Chris Parsons – Yeah, that’s about right. This close. Always this close…story of my life really…not this time. You, Riot…I don’t give a fuck! This was mine back in the day…I’m just finally coming for it… Joey LaDude – Yeah he’s a little pissed! All this tension backstage can’t be good though, think we should be looking for jobs just in case? Victoria Elspeth – Shut up and watch… Dropping the GCW Championship at center ring, Parsons is disgusted. Rolling from the ring, microphone in hand, walks toward the back. Chris Parsons – Whoa guys…don’t worry…like I said, that’s mine. You can keep it warm for me if you want…but I’m no one’s delivery boy. You want it, go get it…it’s in the ring with the rest of the old junk... Holding his hands up to show he doesn’t mean any harm, he hands the microphone off to Kintaru. Then, a clearly angry Parsons bursts through the curtain, disappears backstage. A sly smirk still spread on Kintaru's face, he spares one final glance at the entrance way, before making his way down the ramp towards the ring. Victoria Elspeth – You can't be serious! What has Kintaru done to deserve this title? Joey LaDude – Well, he was the first ever singles holder of the GCW Hybrid Championship once upon a time. It's not like he's a terrible pick, Vick! Hey, that rhymes! As Kintaru approaches the ring, he begins circling it, surveying the situation. Riot still hasn't moved, and the Title rests in a heap in the center of the ring. After a few more seconds, Kintaru finally rolls under the bottom rope, and scoops up the Championship. The moment he does, he almost becomes hypnotized, as he stares deeply into the front face plate of his new championship. The grin on his face slowly fades away, as he just continues staring intently at the championship. Soon, the crowd begins to quiet down, as C.W. makes his way to the ring, tossing his mic in at Kintaru. The loud echoing thump snaps Kintaru out of his trance, as he finally breaks his staring contest with the title to look over at the microphone. After a couple more seconds of silence, Kintaru slings the title over his shoulder, and picks the Mic up. Kintaru – Well, I guess this is the part where I say a few words huh? What do you guys think? Does it look good on me? The arena erupts into boos, causing a quick chuckle from Kintaru, as he shifts the title to make it rest comfortably. Kintaru – You know, it's been YEARS since I've held any title at all, let alone the top title in one of the biggest companies in the world. I just want you all to know that I am truly honoured, and I promise not to let ANY of you down. The fake sincerity in Kintaru's voice only causes the booing to intensify. Another chuckle escapes from Kintaru, before he turns his attention to Rob Riot. Kintaru –Mr. Riot. Welcome to GCW. I see you've made yourself at home. You know, that actually looks wildly uncomfortable, let me help you with that. Kintaru walks over to Riot, untangling his arms from the ropes, causing the Festival of Fights winner to collapse to the floor, motionless. Kintaru – There we go, much better. Now, I know you probably can't hear me right now, but don't worry. I'm sure we have some tapes we'll be happy to lend you so you can get all caught up on what happened while you had your little old man nap. But it's good that you're out here right now, because I actually did want to talk to you. Kintaru kneels down to bring himself closer to Riot's unconscious body, his knee dropping into the puddle of blood that has been dripping out of Riot's face. Kintaru – See... I was pretty sure you were going to win this whole big tournament. That's just kind of what you do, isn't it? You show up somewhere, you win, someone gets offended, makes it personal, and eventually someone winds up fucking dead, right? Tale as old as time. But I'm getting a little distracted. I knew you were going to win this tournament, and that's why I convinced father time over there to crown me as the first ever Global Championship Wrestling Champion. Because I... Want... You. Kintaru leans closer to Riot's head now. His forehead pressing against the back of Riot's head. His breathing becomes heavier, as he brings the mic closer to his lips. Kintaru – Oh yes... That's right. Your wildest dreams, and your darkest nightmares are all coming true in one fell swoop Riot. Because this whole tournament. This whole show. Me signing on to help with this massive GLOBAL CONGLOMERATE OF WRESTLING TALENT AND SPECTACLE!!! All of it... Was just one... Big... Conspiracy. With that, Kintaru throws the microphone down onto Riot's body. He spares one final gaze at the Festival of Fights winner, before rolling out of the ring, and making his way back up the ramp. As he reaches the stage, he turns back towards the camera one final time, before raising his title up, eliciting another chorus of boos from the audience. As he continues to hold the title up for the world to see, the show fades to black. |
