On Camera
The camera opens to a grassy lawn, the trees are changing colors as fall has come at least. That might be hard to prove thanks to a heat wave, but one can’t tell. But yet a noise is heard…
Thud….
Thud….
Thud….
The camera pans around to see if the source of the noise can be found. A baseball goes whizzing by the camera lens and another thud is heard. The camera goes to the left and sees a target, with a square and large red X painted on a large canvas is seen. It is surrounded by baseballs and as the camera watches another baseball thuds against it, in the square but not hitting the red X. The camera goes to the right and a figure is seen. If one was to measure the distance from the canvas to that person, one would find it is 64 feet, regulation distance for a pitcher to be from the mound in baseball. The camera moves in on the figure and discovers a legend wrestling there, in shorts, and tshirt, wearing a hat over an auburn ponytail that is pulled through the back. She (yes she) looks at the target then takes the stance and seems to concentrate. She’s holding a baseball in her right hand and has a baseball glove on her left. She stands up and then lets loose with a throw that strikes the canvas right on the X is the distance. She bends over to pick up a ball from a bucket that is near her feet, and is full of balls.
So I am representing SWAT….
Lynn Brewster stands up and removes the hat, and wipes at the sweat on her forehead. She takes off the baseball glove and bends over to pick up a bottle of water that is next to the bucket. She takes a long drink, then seems to be thinking. She motions with her head and the camera follows her to the patio of her home in Savannah, Georgia. She takes a seat and takes another drink of water.
Lynn: I’m representing SWAT in the XHF End of Days tournament, taking on someone named Pequero Dinosaurio. Seriously? That's his wrestling name? If that's really his name I pity him for that alone. And then I have to ask ...what has he done? What makes him think he’s good enough to even be in the ring with me? So many questions…..and I hear no answers. So I’m going to have to presume a great deal.
I will presume that you have some talent, otherwise your federation wouldn't have sent you to this tournament. But show me what you’ve done. See I’m champion material. If we are talking about SWAT I’ve done so much…...I was once SWAT Women's World champion for 18 months. Yes 18 months. You can't be slacking off to do that. I faced everyone they told me too, and each person realized when we were done that I had done exactly what I said I would, which is beat them and teach them a lesson at the same time. Then time went by and SWAT took a break. When it reopened I joined, because it was honoring a dear friend of mine and I thought I owed it to him to try and I’m glad I did. I became the SWAT Pan Amazon champion, although I lost it due to some shady underhand techniques played on me. Things like I suddenly had to face someone who wanted a shot at the title, and they waited until I had just finished a match to get that chance. I won't deny it, yes I lost but it turned out to be for a good reason.
That good reason is that Paul Soutter and Joe Pesci left SWAT and I took over. I booked matches, I wrestled in matches, I made sure all the paperwork was done, made sure the talent got paid. But my biggest success was I got SWAT on the intergender route, something I had wanted way before but was told was impossible to do. At least when Pesci and Soutter came rushing back, saying they were there to save SWAT, they didn't take that away. It got a bit ...scary but the ladies showed they can hang in the ring.
A Lot of the booking was taken over by Pesci, and he did give me a shot at the Amazon title which ...I won. Yes, I was the SWAT Amazon champion. I won't bore you with what happen after that.
Lynn takes a drink of water, weighing her next words in her mind.
Lynn: See Pequero…..Dinosaurio…..
Lynn rolls her eyes.
Lynn: Anyway there you have just a taste of my talent. SWAT isn't the only company I’ve held any titles in. I’ve had tv titles, women’s titles, WORLD titles, you name it. I’ve never backed down from a fight, even those that could have hurt me greatly, like a cage match where I dived off the top of onto my opponent, with only his body to block my complete fall. I’ve been in ladder matches where I was hit with the ladder, and it goes on. I dont care if this is a hardcore match, or if its a simple match that when I win, I advance to the next round while you’re packing up your boots and wonder what you’ve done wrong. You did nothing wrong, you just ran into true champion material.
Lynn wipes her forehead with the edge of her shirt, and then picks up the hat she had on earlier, and places it on her head, pulling her hair through the opening in the back.
Lynn: I’m in shape, I’m ready, and I’ll be going on to face Moe or Monroe. It doesn't matter which of them I face because I’ll do the same to them that I do to you.
Defeat you.
Yes defeat you. If you want to save yourself some punishment, don't show up. Save yourself, because I am bringing everything I have and I’m ready to take you down.
Lynn stands up and walks back to where she was found. She picks up a baseball and gets in the pitcher stance and takes aim……
And hits a perfect strike.
Camera fades to black..
