It feels utterly incongruous to see Nephilim sitting in a seat onboard a private jet. It's a feeling of visual displacement akin to seeing a lion in Starbucks. It doesn't seem to be bothering him though, elbows on the table in front of him, fingers steepled as he looks into the camera.
I know there isn't much praise to be gained from predicting the obvious, but still, you have to admit that I called it. Joseph Mack gets Eric Dane down for an almost certain 3 count, and Jesse and Scotty dive in to save their boss' bacon. Shame for Mack, but he knew the odds. Bigger shame is that it didn't have to be that way.
He shakes his head.
Desolation show up, ready to break Dane's heavies apart in a No DQ match, just like the card said, only to be told that it's now standard rules. No chairs, no tables, and most definitely no crowbars to kneecaps. Kinda changes the gameplan somewhat. So in the end, it became a case of 'nice try, not good enough'. The Syndicate get the win, the number one contendership, and the continued function of their legs to ensure Eric Dane gets to keep his title.
He leans a little closer.
Now I don't know why management feel the need to protect Eric Dane, and I honestly don't care. An extra obstacle is an extra obstacle, and regardless of source we will either get around it or get through it.
Desolation will have the Imperial Crowns;
Nemo will have the North American Double Crown;
The Church of Oblivion will have control;
You will have nothing.
He leans back.
But back to the short term matters. We're on our way to do our part in a little exchange of services, and then we get ourselves back on track in the tag team division. Johnnie Valentine, Shawn Kutter, what comes next is nothing personal. Like The Syndicate, you're an obstacle to be removed. A different kind of obstacle, yes: smaller, smarter; but an obstacle all the same. You've found some success in your new pairing, but not against any team that can compare to Desolation. You are running headlong into a brick wall, hoping it's weak enough to just collapse.
You're about to find out just how fucking stupid an idea that is.
