So what games are you most excited for. Honestly I REALLY wanna play Horizon: Zero Dawn but in terms of what I have preordered and hence will be forced to pick up and can afford ... Mass Effect Andromeda is high on my list. It looks SOOOOOO fantastic. I may post a few reviews of the smaller games I play as I wanna try to start tackling my attack list of games. Some you may not have heard of/thought of playing.

I'm still a Pokemon nut but I haven't had access to anything beyond Diamond and Pearl. So for me, I'd be really excited to try my hand at Sun and Moon because I didn't really like the other newer ones from a conceptual point (Pokemon can only get so dark, y'know) but this seems like a fun times generation (sort of like the Overheated PPV).
You should defo review stuff, I live vicariously through other gamers because I'm terrible at games and lack access to them.
In the world of Pokemon fan games, some dude was able to create an algorithm so that you could play in Kanto starting with any city as your home city and then the rest of the game would increase in difficulty as you get more badges. That's pretty hot; and I know that some other guy offered for him to mix the game with the programming for Pokemon generation 6-7, which brings in the fairy types and stuff. I dunno, he's using it as a side project, but it'd be sweet if he found a way to expand the game to include the other regions- then again, he's not totally done with Kanto yet (he's going slowly since he's re-using maps from his main focus game and doesn't want to give away spoilers). That might be fun to play

Wow, really? Emerald was my favorite for a long time. Did they some how mess that generation up?

Emerald was my nostalgia temple as well. Here's how they tripped:
1) The HMs, man. Everyone knows there was too much sea, but they didn't do anything to reduce the need to carry or speed up the use of surf, waterfall and dive at all times to be able to get anywhere. The main new area they added was a partially submerged sunken ship where you had to repeatedly zigzag across the deep end by way of use surf > use dive > move over a screen > use dive.
2) Exp share now works by being a key item that gives half the experience points from any battle to all pokemon in your party regardless of whether they participated or not. People complained about this for obvious reasons in XY but I figured it was like the shift battle option - an easy mode enabled by default that you turn off in the menu if you want the actual game. Nope. Exp share off, set battle style, large rotating squad including slow growers, no grinding - still walked the elite four. They scrapped the experience points system from gen five that prevented you from over-levelling as well which would've made for a worrying combo with the exp share. Oh yeah, you know how sweet it was in RBGY when they gave you that Lapras? In this game there is no way of avoiding a Lati@s being handed to you on a plate around about gym number five. AND they throw in a mega stone so you can mega evolve it in battle for better stats than Mewtwo. As well as a mega stones your starter. This is a game where the seventh gym battle is a doubles match against a Solrock and a Lunatone.
3) I always got a chuckle in the old games where you would beat a trainer by spamming earthquake or somesuch and it would lead to comments about how it demonstrated you had a sincere bond with your pokemon. This game doesn't let up on that shit. Everyone you meet it all oh thank you for whooping me it was really inspiring you're such a good trainer your bond between you and your pokemon is really special you're going to go far please take this item as a gesture of my appreciation. Even the fucking evil team leaders! That Lati@s you get is because of a special bond you supposedly have with it because it flew up out of nowhere and fell in love on sight with your face. People ask you, this kid, to save the world with the evil team / legendary pokemon stuff and they big up how important it is and how much of a big ask it before admitting that you shouldn't worry because it'll be a piece of piss for you. The plot to improve the world somehow by flooding it gets more talk time without even pretending it isn't brainless. The post game is garbage but notable for introducing the idea of the original games and this remake along with XY occurring in parallel universes, which is basically their get-out clause for ditching the megas.
Thank you for letting me have this rant.

Holy crap! 1. Multiple water HMs are always really frustrating. I was playing a GREAT fan game and figured I only had to worry about surf so I was rocking a Kingler with great attack but awful special. So I just kept surf on him with three great attack moves as I played through (because I don't believe in HM slaving). Then, at the victory road portion I suddenly needed waterfall and dive. I quit playing right there; and I put a lot of hours into the game. I really don't understand the point of dive/whirlpool. Waterfall was in gen 1 (just not as an HM) so I let it pass (plus its a power-based water attack). But dive and whirlpool just suck all over 2. I heard about the crap experience share. Then I forgot about it because no fan game uses it, lol. But in general the difficulty has gone down in the games, hasn't it? 3. Yeah, I've read some comics about playthroughs and a running joke is that in the newer games EVERY trainer talks about how awesome you are for completely breaking them. My favorite fan game (Pokemon Island) has a couple, which is fun but most of the people aren't happy about being beaten. One guy in it gets angry and says that evolving his pokemon was a waste of time since you still beat him. Another girl randomly yells out "damn!" even though everything else is G rated. It's always sad to see your favorite game get remade in a not so cool way

I really want to play Breath of the Wild, and Switch in general just to see how it is. But there isn't anything on my radar at the moment as far as yet to be released stuff.

That's what I thought when I looked at the Switch's launch titles (if that's what you're talking about). Really its just Zelda and that's it; which I thought was kind of disappointing.

Randy since you bought a ps4... GET HORIZON. I think you'll really like it. I put in just about 72 hours, to pretty much finish everything in the game. Aside from finding the logs, which there is a shit ton of those. Which I'd rather just look up and read online. But man the game is nothing short of amazing. Beautiful. I can't remember the last game to just stay with me after I finished it. Like scouring the Internet looking for answers and theories. Ugh... Get it.
For this year...
Friday the 13th - should be a fun online game with the right people. Super stoked since I played the pc beta and it was quite fun. Alittle rough around the edges but improvements I'm sure will be made by may 26th Super Mario Odyssey - Enough said. Splatoon 2 - i played a bit from the technical beta they had and it seemed super fun. Different. Less about getting the highest kills and more about teamwork. I didn't have a wiiu, so I wasn't fortunate enough to play the first one. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy - Enough said. Cuphead - looks like a fun throwback platformer in the style of something from disney
But honestly... I know e3 is just around the corner. I'm sure more things are going to be announced along with some xbox exclusives hopefully. Even so... most anticipated game of 2017....
RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2. Really the only game i care about this year, assuming it don't get delayed.

I was waiting on getting the new Pokémon until the time was right and I finally did. The last Pokémon game I played all the way through was black and even though I'm not a huge fan of the gym changes I think it worked great. Plenty of new and interesting Pokémon, a good story, and still stuff to do after defeating the elite four.

I was wondering about the new Pokemon game. How long did it take you to play it and which version did you get...and which starter did you choose....and who was your final team? We need details!

I bought Sun only because I bought my son Moon for Christmas. I chose the water seal thing but I stopped using it after level 39. There was gift through playing the demo of a ashgreninja but you couldn't use him until you got to the point of using Pokémon from level 25-50 so when I could use him I switched out water Pokémon and used him. I also used a charmander I got at level 1 in a wonder trade and dominated with a Charizard like I did way back in Pokémon blue and recently when I bought the download of Pokémon red. I got a Gibble in a wonder trade and raised that up. An Eevee I caught I trained as a jolteon. And my final member was a shiny nidoking that I got at level 100. I finished it in about a week.

Sounds like a pretty solid team. I hated the nidos when I was a kid, but as an adult (and with better move sets) I rather enjoy training them. I mean, c'mon, they learn fighting, ground, and posion attacks; that's bad-ass all over the place.
I haven't played any of the games with wonder trade, is it cool? It seems like a somewhat broken system because you can just keep trading until you get something good

That's absolutely true but I enjoy it. I don't do a lot of trading so it helps me to actually complete my pokedex or get closer to it.

Yeah, I kind of figured that was it's ultimate purpose. Like Nintendo realized most people don't want to actually meet up and trade with their friends; so instead they instituted the random online trade, lol.
But, I will credit Nintendo with constantly trying to market their product as social gaming. Like there was the link cable stuff with the gameboys way back when, and now even the Switch's advertisement suggested that you could go out and game with friends. Even the Wii was marketed as something fun for your whole family (even grandparents). They really, REALLY, want to make that culture, lol
