I'm still so amazed that I even managed to become XHF Champion, let alone twice. Despite the fact I left XHF in unceremonious circumstances (yes, I'm the douchebag who took the XHF Title to another company and threw it in the trash) At the time, I had my reasons, I was young, naive, and stupid, and really should have just talked to Mongo - but hey, in the long run, I feel it worked out - and Mongo is downright one of the kindest most forgiving guys I've ever met and we mended our fences. As a roleplay, before I came to XHF I'd only really been in efeds either I ran with friends, or were ran by friends. I'd been in two that were ran by people I didn't know, one where the owner gave me the nickname the "God of Xtreme" that I still use to this day, and another that was ran by some pretty hardcore Insane Clown Posse fans. I did pretty well in both feds, won a world title in one, and their version of King of the Ring in another. However, the one I was champion in closed, as was often the case with newer feds back then, and the ICW-based fed well....I'd found out that one of my friends had commited suicide, because a friend posted it on the forums. Instead of calling me, or hell, even texting me (not sure if I had a cell phone then or not) and I just couldn't go back to the boards.
Then I met T-Bird, who was "dating" AJ Phoenix or Pheonix as he spelt it, and she dragged me to XHF, and the rest was history.
The XHF was the first time I ever felt like a "main eventer" it was the first time I'd ever felt like I "made it" because even though a vocal group of people didn't feel like I deserved the title, and fuck it, I didn't hold it for long. I did hold it. I got there. I won the Rumble, and I got there, and Night of Champions (screw you WWE!) in my mind there was always the thoughts of "Well MGK would have won, if he wasn't banned, and maybe AJ would have won if blah blah blah blah" and that is what played on my mind, a year later when I beat Reckless Jack to hold the title the second time (making me a member of a very elite club!) the politics got to me, and I crumbled like certain people wanted me to, but that is behind us.
I had some absolutely fantastic times here in XHF, and I still reference them today in my roleplays. Hell, I did an "abandoned arena" match recently that referenced XHF and Spike's old fed he owned. My feud with Congo over the X*Crown was one of my favourites ever, I met so many people here that I still "work" with today, people like AJ, Steve Awesome, The Ace, and JFK.
As for trends? (To try and get back on topic) a lot has changed, a LOT. When I first started, roleplays were like a paragraph long. You'd cut a one minute promo and be done. Then we got into the back and forth style that became popular in places like XHF, then in places like nCw things like limits became a trend. LIMITS!? How am I supposed to get my stuff in with limits!? But it worked, you adapt, you plan your writing more, and you cut out the chaff. I saw Nelly Angel become even more beloved than he already was, and flourish. The "blog style" has become super popular, which is basically where you type out your promo without any actions (such as *The Ace smirks* lol) and seperate it with some Character Development story telling. I myself use this a lot, and have done really well with Spike. In fact, Spike has come a long way since XHF, I don't even remember him ever really being a heel here? In nCw and IWF I've won several Heel of the Year awards...
Oh Spike has become a real bastard.
He crucified someone.
Cut his best friends finger off.
Faked cancer!
Oh, and revealed he faked cancer by beating down and injuring his son.
Those last two were this last year btw.
I'm way too good at writing a bad guy.
I'm rambling, I'll stop.
