In the time I've gone, it sounds like pretty near everyone has checked out of competitive rping. I was curious as to when it happened and what the motivation was.
For me, I entered into a self-imposed exile (as you know) and now my time is somewhat limited (depending on the season) so I can rp, but certainly not at a world-class level for any sustained amount of time.
Having said that, my heart still burns brightly to fed; hence why I dream of the XHF Network, lol.
What about you though? When did it slow down/stop for you?

I'm pretty sure I was mostly gone from RPing before you vanished. I just lost the desire, chemistry is a rough subject and I had to dedicate myself to that and my RA job in college and then trying to put together a real life post-graduation.

In 2012 I had a QA job for the Reading Rainbow App, and we were on a six week cycle for books, so I'd have about 4 weeks where I'd work maybe an hour a day, and spend the other 7 sitting around waiting to look at books, 1 week that was half the day of work, and one week of crunch time where I actually worked all day. So it was a great time to RP, because there's only so much "safe for work" internet to take in.
In 2013, I started at SpaceX, where 10-hour days are the minimum, working the whole time. And once I got engaged in May, I lost a lot more of whatever free time I did have, so I just couldn't devote the time to RPing anymore and I had to bow out. I wasn't "ready" to leave, but I just had to. And I really liked having that extra free time so I never came back.

10-hour minimum?! That's like Korean salary man hours! Is the pay at least worthwhile?
That Reading Rainbow app job sounded pretty hot though.
Man DT, that chemistry stuff beat you down hardcore. You should just be like David Otunga and throw it all away for following your dream- the XHF. The XHF is your dream, right? We don't pay yet though; maybe you can figure out some sort of chemistry-based way to make this a profitable venture, lol.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not even sure myself anymore when my apparent "Retirement" RP DID take place, lol, I was certain that it was either here or the XHF: NM board, but nope, apparently not since I can't find anything relatively recent under my usernames, so I guess VXW against Erez/Kuroi must've been my most recent RP, and that was in '07. So no wonder I'm so mentally rusty now that I couldn't even begin to put together another RP currently, lol, wouldn't even know where to start after literally 10 years have passed. Not to mention that anything less than my prime quality of RPing would be unacceptable in my own eyes since I thrive on being a perfectionist at anything I attempt to do, which in turn is why being an e-fed admin/board manager in general was my true calling all along anyhow. Don't get me wrong, I do miss certain aspects of RPing a lot, such as the adrenaline rush it often gives you, and I'd definitely do it again in a heartbeat, IF I was matched against the likes of MGK/Reeshi who I LOVED trying to battle since those 2 specifically brought out consistently the best in me without a doubt. But otherwise I just genuinely got my most enjoyment out of carefully formatting the actual shows as an admin, deep down that was my ultimate goal in XHF from day one and I feel incredibly fortunate that it became a reality after patiently waiting many, many years and pestering Mongo endlessly about hiring me on AIM, lol. Plus, as far as RPing goes, after having so long to reflect on and fully appreciate everything by this point, I'm really, truly at peace knowing that my lasting legacy will now forever be that of a character in Rage who served as a core founder/cornerstone in the earliest years of the fed's existence, heck I even had my own clear arch nemesis back then, Millenium (and probably Chris Sanders too for that matter, come to think of it, shoutout to "Primetime" wherever he may be these days!) back in the day was the yin to Rage's yang just as Rat Bastard was to Mongo and I've never been more excited/proud of myself than I was when I was able to defeat that very talented dude at Night of Champions after we had previously gone to all-out WAR in the RP forum for like half a year or so straight, lol, and yet, I still just could never get over the hump against him...until finally I did, on the biggest stage of them all, which made it all the more gratifying. So all in all I've experienced the best of both worlds, had a completely fulfilling RPing career that included reaching the top of the mountain at one point, AND have gone on to become an admin at every single XHF-related board over time, along with Commishing an extremely successful annual Fantasy Football league named after the XHF, couldn't ask for more than that as an overall Xtreme journey these past 16 years.

Holy crap, it's been 10 years!? Now I really wanna see an "XHF Dark Ages" rp from you with an update on what Rage has done since XHF closed, lol.
Y'know, it's funny you mention Sanders, because whenever I think of Rage, I always think of your stuff against him. It's surprising too, because as you said, you had a great feud with Millennium and another great one with Destruction too. But I think your mega-feud with Sanders left the biggest impression.
And I'm not gonna lie, your passion for putting on perfect shows is something we really should have taken advantage of earlier, lol. I was actually worried though that your perfectionism is what kept you silent after we re-opened the board in November since I teased you about not keeping the old boards clean, lol (it was a joke!).

Haha nah no big deal about the not cleaning the board stuff and all, I knew it was a joke of course. And definitely, the more I think about it, the more certain I am that Sanders WAS even more pivotal to Rage's career than even Millennium was, I love how the massive NoC breakthrough victory over Millennium then almost instantly segued right into the so-called "Summer Sanders Saga" (really need to finish filling in that Wiki page sometime soon too I suppose, lol) feud with Chris himself, me and him managed to come up with some of the most creative RPs ever against each other during the course of that storyline, which is due to the fact that the handler for Sanders was another extremely familiar guy who came from the No Mercy board just like we did, so OOC-wise we were already real good friends and were able to work in perfect cohesion together to gradually build that whole thing up. And wow, now that you mention it, I think Rage-Destruction may have indeed been the longest-spanning overall rivalry in the entire history of XHF, I think those 2 characters legit faced each other right around 10 times in various singles/tag situations off and on through the years. My only regret there is that me and Carlos SO should've also had them join forces at some point midway through their illustrious careers, otherwise they both COMPLETELY mirrored mostly every aspect of Austin and HHH themselves, crazy and very eerie, literally all we were missing was the equally great Two Man Power Trip angle together as badass heels, which btw that's still my favorite tag team in wrestling history besides the Hardyz, I'll always wonder "what if?" as far as how long that storyline would've actually lasted and just how legendary they would've become as an egocentric unit if Hunter hadn't suddenly torn his quad during that absurdly great Raw tag title match they were in the midst of against Jericho/Benoit, my god Austin & H had silly good chemistry together as a tag team during that period of time.

Yes, pay and benefits are worthwhile indeed. Which it should be, because getting to Mars is going to take a lot of work. Reading Rainbow was fun, but it was freelance, so I had to take care of my own taxes and it was a long commute, so it had it's hassles.

The only problem with Rage/Destruction being a team would be that Dessy was a no gimmick loser face ( ) and Rage was a colorful heel closely associated with Mongo (because of the whole team XHF thing). It's like oil and yellow water (kidding, kidding, I have trouble breaking kayfabe when it involves Destruction). So...K-Dawg.....were I to land in the US near you...y- you'd put in a good word, right? Right?

I,um, currently freelance "consult" with businesses, especially executives. If it means anything, I've been working with a big IT company for 4-5 years now.
Gah, stupid NK situation. I hate having to check the news all the time to see if the fighting is starting or not.

That ewrestling wiki linked to for Rage's bio has got me looking at title histories and man that's a trip. Who could forget the XHF's inaugural European champion Willy the Welshman?

I didn't really retire I just got soured on the idea. I was having fun with it again for awhile with Carlos in NCW and we shot up the ranks. I was really enjoying it and hoping to finally get the field I wanted to do with Steve Awesome but the bookers at NCW didn't like what we were trying to do once we got to the top and it just became a mess and Carlos wasn't having fun and neither was I so we stopped.
It was a fun thing to do in my free time and honestly if I had free time to devote to it I might still do it, but I don't or I might have finished the RP thread I started here before Doc and Dave stepped in.

You know Ish, we can laugh about Willy the Welshman, but if I recall, he actually rped for a while. I remember we had a dude in the....2nd or 3rd year who's gimmick was dressing like a WWI German; Mongo kept calling him a Nazi on commentary so he quit.
Lol, phoning it in Harry, the true mark of a wrestling legend. You'll be the efed equivalent of Honky Tonk Man yet.
And Scorps, I'm glad you feel that way because we'd all love to see you back in the groove when the time comes
