[Not very long after the show, Ronnie Long is standing outside the arena. Tall and dark, clad in a black trench coat over jeans and an old Old Line Wrestling T-shirt, his appearance may be imposing, but his demeanor isn't. A couple fans with microphones - doubtless bloggers looking for an interview and the clicks that go with it - surround him as he leans against the wall of the arena.]
Dude 1: Ronnie, um, Mr. Long, sir, you wouldn't maybe mind answering a couple questions, would you?
[Long grins.]
Ronnie Long: If I minded, I wouldn't've stopped walking. What's up?
Dude 2: Why are you back, now of all times?
Long: Well... here's the thing. Jeff Andrews asked me to look after his kids while he had to step away from wrestling, but when I went watching, I told him it looks to me like they can take care of themselves. Still, I hadn't watched wrestling in a few years. Trying to break the habit, you know? But it all starts coming back the second you turn on the screen and then I saw the situation that Gordon and Jay Stevens were in.
Dude 1: You knew them?
Long: I knew Jay Stevens' dad. Got Jay's phone number from him. That was an interesting conversation.
Dude 1: You mean?
Long: You look smark enough to figure it out. Jay's dad and I have a lot of history. Bloody, violent, hardcore wrestling type history.
Dude 1: And you just offered to team with his kid? How'd you...
Long: Look, it's like this. Jeff tricked me into taking a look inside the door. Then I saw a couple guys who needed a hand and I saw a place where I could be useful. So I threw down an offer and they bit. That's all there was to it.
Dude 2: So what's the big deal about trios wrestling for you?
Long: Alright. You know I held the Trios Titles in DEFIANCE Wrestling with Kai Scott and Heidi Christenson. I never quite got to the trios gold in Old Line Wrestling, mostly because it was me, Danny Vicious, and Jeff Andrews, and Jeff being on the executive committee was pretty shy about granting himself title shots. I don't care. Teaming with Andrews and Vicious was a high point of my career. Trios wrestling is great. You get more time outside the ring than in even a regular tag match, and that means you have more energy to do stuff.
Dude 2: And you've already got a singles match against Neo James-
Long: Yeah, the most heeliest heel to ever heel. I've seen about 20 of them, each one heelier than the last. Guys, I'm sorry to run, but I'm a little jet lagged and I'm not gonna spill my whole soul out behind the arena on my first show back. You want to know what I'm about? Keep watching the show.
[And that, as they say, is the end of that chapter, as Long turns and disappears into the darkened parking lot.]
