(Early morning and UPW’s Grace has tracked down Summer “Pixilicious” Pyke at a Park in Tokyo. Despite being battered and bruised, Pixi is up as early as ever and determined to enjoy her morning run. Grace catches her as she’s working through her stretches and warm-up routine.)
Grace: Good Morning, Summer. I’m surprised to find you up and about so early. Well, I say ‘surprised’, I expected it – which is why I called King – so I could catch up. Congrats on the win. That was one wild fight, for sure.
Pixi: Thank you. And whilst you may have expected ME, I most certainly didn’t expect YOU> You do know what time it is, don’t you?
Grace: Oh, I’m not up early -Heaven forbid! I’m up late. But it’s getting close to bed time; so let’s not drag this out.
Pixi: You stopped me, remember?
Grace: Fair point. So – are things cool between you and the THC?
Pixi: To be honest….I’m not sure. Obviously, I don’t like to bear grudges: all that negativity is bad karma. I don’t need that. So, I’m not going to dwell on what happened – as shameful as some of it was. No, what’s done is done and I move on. If they want to drag things out then Uncle Jack and I are ready to meet ANY challenge.
Grace: Very diplomatic. But, what about the Black Hand?
Pixi: What about them?
Grace: They won – everything, near as damn it.
Pixi: So? It just means that they’ll LOSE everything. It’s going to happen. I just don’t know when, but it’s as certain as death and taxes. The won though and I applaud them for that. It took a lot of effort and they put in that effort, but now the hard part begins – KEEPING those titles. And I intend to make that no easy task: not for Devin Bishop.
Grace: Why not the tag belts?
Pixi: Two reasons: ONE, Uncle Jack and I haven’t had that much practice of late. We simply aren’t ready to take on Rated M. Not yet. However – TWO; I am ready to face Devin. Yeah, yeah, I get that technically that ought to be the tougher challenge and for anyone else it would be.
Grace: But not you?
Pixi: (smiling) Not me.
Grace: Well, you do hold the distinction of having beaten him.
Pixi: Twice.
Grace: Something no one else has done.
Pixi: I know, but let’s keep a sense of perspective. That was then. This is now. I accept that. Devin has grown. He’s improved. I see that. However, so have I. I’ve learnt from my fights – particularly with Rain Blackheart. And I’m going to continue to learn and improve. Devin has done wonders for the UPW Openweight title. I am not going to play silly games and pretend otherwise, BUT, he can’t hold the belt forever and I intend to be the one that carries it next. And that’s why Uncle Jack and Team Sp!ke will wait – will take a back seat – for the moment. Anything less than 100 % is insufficient. So on that note...(She looks at the path that she intends to run).
Grace: I get it. My bed is calling anyway. Thanks for the chat and we’ll catch up for sure back in Vegas.
Pixi: For sure.
(The pair briefly embrace and pass ‘air kisses’ before parting. Pixi sets off on her run and Grace ambles back to her waiting cab.)
