(The camera opens up to the Pura Vida Coffee Shop in Mesa, Arizona. We find the duo of Cage and “Thunder Kid” Ron Masterson sitting outside, each with a coffee sitting in front of them. Both are dressed in jeans, with Cage in a black t-shirt and Ron in a maroon one. Ron has his hair pulled back in a ponytail and Cage takes a sip before turning to his young partner.)
CAGE: So, what do you think about Nobody?
MASTERSON: Honestly, not sure. Just that it’s nice to have a bit of a title opportunity. I know we had a bit of a setback, Donnie wasn’t exactly happy about that.
CAGE: Yeah, I’m sorry about that. Here I am, getting ready to call it a career and I’m getting more distracted.
MASTERSON: Maybe, but it’s not without reason. Daniel Dare was a guy who gave you a big break outside of the WFA, he’s been very connected to your career, and here he is. This is right after everything with TCE.
CAGE: (nodding) Yeah, it’s the devils of my past coming back for one last stab, I guess.
MASTERSON: So you do what you always do, you do the right thing. Put them down.
CAGE: Working on it. But you shouldn’t have to suffer because of it. Donnie is right in that aspect.
MASTERSON: (smiling) Donnie is old school, but I get it. And this upcoming show I’ll be focused on taking on Joe Nobody and adding the High Roller Championship to my resume. It would be nice to feel that call of being a champion again. I won’t lie.
CAGE: I have no doubt that you have plenty of titles in your future, Ron. You are talented as hell, early in your career. You could end up being better then me. That’s why I want to try and do everything I can to help you with the time I’ve got left.
(The duo sits there for a minute in silence.)
MASTERSON: But really, you’re planning on about a month or so? The Three Dares of Dare then it’s over?
(Cage sits a moment, taking a sip of the coffee, and nods)
CAGE: Yeah. Three more trials and then it’s the end of the road for me. I’ve put twenty years into this business. Sure, I’ve been done and then come back but this… this is it. It’s time. Like you said – time to do the right thing. For my friends, for my family…
MASTERSON: For you?
CAGE: (shrugs) Maybe.
MASTERSON: Well, then whoever Dare has gotten to challenge you doesn’t really have much of a chance. I want to make sure you go out on top.
CAGE: I appreciate that Ron, really.
MASTERON: Not a problem, Cage.
CAGE: But hey, let’s see if we can also get you one more title before I go, huh?
(Masterson taps his coffee cup against Cage’s and smiles. Fade to black.)
