INT. O2 ARENA - LONDON
The media are set up in the back of the O2 Arena. There are two tables sandwiched around a podium. Well, it was the big show. It was Dominion! There's a lot to digest. WUK will be different going forward. There is a new Commonwealth Champion. There is also a new Number One contender for the WUK World Heavyweight Title.
After a few seconds, KALMIN WATTS enters the media area. He is carrying the WUK British TV Title over his shoulder and his Number One contendership binder in his hand. He walks behind the podium and holds both of his prizes high in the air to allow the press to get a good photo opportunity. He then rests both items on the table to his right. Trailing Watts is his manager, ANTHONY JORDAN. Jordan looks like the cat who ate the canary. He’s singing Watts’s praises as he flanks Watts at the podium. Once the commotion settles, Watts picks out a reporter.
REPORTER #1
Kalmin, you are the new Number One contender to the World Heavyweight Title. How does it feel?
WATTS
(smiles) It’s amazing. The match was like American Gladiators. It was wild. I had a feeling it would come down to the Sheik and me, and I was right. I’m not gonna say I wanted it more because we all wanted it. What I’m gonna say is that I proved that I deserved it.
(beat)
I’m gonna enjoy the next 24 hours, then it’s back to work! I’m not done!
JORDAN
Hashtag NOTDONE!
REPORTER #2
You’re one step closer to the rematch you want against Wesley Crane. Is there anything you learned from watching his defense against Ronnie Long?
WATTS
There wasn’t anything new with Wesley Crane. He’s desperate and running scared. He wasn’t the better wrestler tonight. Ronnie Long was every bit his equal, maybe even his superior, but the High Rollers Club made the difference. I think Crane kept them from interfering in our match to trick Long into thinking they wouldn’t be a factor. I wouldn’t put it past him. If he put as much effort into training that he did into cheating, then maybe he could legitimately hold on to the title.
REPORTER #3
Any rooting interest in Crane’s next defense against Billy Fowler?
WATTS
None. I’ll be watching the match and getting ready for whoever wins. If Crane wins, I get my rematch. If Fowler wins, I’ll beat him for the title, then get my rematch with Crane. The rematch is a done deal now. The only question is “How long will it take me to get it?”.
REPORTER #4
Have you talked to Tarrasque other than that little bit in the back?
WATTS
Not yet. I was surprised to see him, but he seems motivated to work with me to beat Neon Bushido. That should be enough. I don’t get the feeling that he wants to forge a friendship with me.
REPORTER #5
This is for your manager. Anthony, what do you think motivated Donzig to send Tarrasque to come to Kalmin’s aid?
Watts slides over to let Jordan take the podium.
JORDAN
Well, I think we can rule out “kindness of his heart”. That presupposes that Don has a heart.
The reporters chuckle at this notion as Jordan gives his goofy grin.
JORDAN
Don might be genuine. He may see the logic in helping Kalmin and me out. He can talk himself into doing anything. It will make sense to him and maybe to the rest of us. However, at some point, his nature will assert itself. The scorpion stings the frog and dooms them both.
(beat)
Look, we have no choice but to trust Tarrasque at Legacy.
REPORTER #5
So you won’t reciprocate any kind of aid to Donzig in his future title match or any other match?
JORDAN
Donzig thinks charity is for the weak, and Donzig despises the weak. The best way to thank him or honor him is to leave him alone.
REPORTER #5
Does that mean Donzig thinks you and Kalmin are weak?
JORDAN
Perhaps. Maybe this is his way of shepherding us through the valley of darkness.
Jordan is done with this line of questioning and signals that by sliding away from the podium and giving it back to Watts.
REPORTER #6
Kalmin, you haven’t defended the British TV Title in quite some time. Do you know when you next defense will be?
WATTS
We haven’t heard anything. I had to skip a defense to face Crane on behalf of Long, then skip a second defense for the ladder match. Looks like I’ll have to skip a third to face Neon Bushido. Speaking of unfinished business, I owe Takaru Matsui a beating. I’ll defend against him before or after the match at Legacy. I’ll face him again that night. That’s no problem for me. That’s up to Mr. Blood.
Watts gets the iggy from Jordan. Watts waves to the reporters before picking up the British TV Title and Number One contendership binder and leaving the room.
