We open up in a coffee shop. The Guns love their coffee. Venom is deep into his laptop, but Mueller is leaned back in his chair, looking at his watch, and looking quite impatient.
We’ve been here for far too long. We have other things to do V. What is going on man?
Oh man, you don’t understand. This troll tweeted me earlier and…
Dude, I told you, you cannot respond to trolls.
He sent me this link…
Oh man, you for sure can’t click links sent by trolls.
It said “You can’t run the XHF like you used to IRL” what the hell does “IRL” mean? Anyway, it said, “But here you still can. This is the only way you can be back on top lolz.”
You were sucked in by that?
No…yes.
Oh man. What did you do?
I clicked the link.
Why V? WHHHHHHHHY? So no you’re scrubbing for virus.’
No, I’m addicted.
Addicted?
Yes. They sent me a link to this wrestling simulator and I’m stuck. I can’t stop. I took over the XHF Network an hour ago and now I’m six months in and the Guns hold all the titles. I was even able to hire Charlie and make him lose for two months straight for not coming back with us before moving him into title contention too.
Let me see what this is, what you got sucked into.
Mueller moves over Venom’s shoulder and begins reading his screen and reaching in to touch the mouse pad.
This was created forever ago. How are we even in it?
It’s updated every couple months by this guy… Al Johnson.
He sounds like a tool.
Hey, he may be a loser with no life, but he’s updating this game to the point where I can create the Guns as I see them. It’s fantastic.
It’s a waste of time. Come on man we’ve got Supremacy to work towards.
Venom lets out a sigh and shuts his laptop.
It’s been seven years since the last time I had a truly competitive match. Seven years since I’ve fought for anything of substance for a serious amount of time. I came back here and immediately began fighting for the X*Crown, but that was a joke. I was fighting and old drunk and a pig before Curtis Kanyon came in out of the blue and stole a win from me. It was nothing. This, though, this is a real fight.
For the first time since I’ve returned I have real competition. Fighters who are ready for a fight, not a joke like a pig. Not a joke like Harry.
Are they up to par with the Guns? That’s yet to be seen, but they’re head and shoulders ahead of the jokes I’ve faced so far in this joke of a company Mongo brought back to life. Sure, one of the teams might be a washed up old drunk who has had some success in the European company and his friend. Sure, another team is some green kids from Japan. Sure, the last team is guys dressed up in costumes who think they are from the future. Damn, maybe this still is a joke.
Maybe no matter how hard I work to make this place as good as it once was, as good as it could have been if we didn’t shut down and run away allowing all our best talent to run away to New Championship Wrestling. Maybe there is no making this place what it could have been if Mongo didn’t decide to shut it all down. I’m the hero in this story, even if you see me as the villain, the one holding the precious tag team titles hostage.
You may not see it now, but one day you will.
