Location: Osaka, Japan
{Another humid night had fallen on the city of Osaka but by this time of day, most had returned home from work or other activities that kept them busy throughout most of the day and now as the perfect time to unwind and rest up for the adventures that followed...is what it would be like for an average citizen in Osaka. As for the case of Raiden, there was no day of rest in the reality he was living in. Every day was practically filled with some paranoia as the threat of the Akagawa Family moving on him and his friends continued to loom over him like a dark cloud, ready to unleash a storm of torrential fury at any given moment if he was left vulnerable. As Takuma had told him back in Dotonbori, there was no real escape after one had touched the darkness of the Yakuza world but Raiden would argue that he was dragged into it rather than going into it by choice because of Jin and Takuma’s constant harassment back in October. Differences aside, the latter of the two had now become one of Bone Cold’s most trusted allies as he ensured the safety the others, who had been moved to Takuma’s home of Koga for the time being while he, Raiden, and Tenya worked to find a solution to their problems alongside the latter’s former superior, Kohei.}
{In regards to Kohei, the trio had been called for a meeting regarding the current situation but the details given to them were rather vague but nothing seemed out of the ordinary to them and the proceeded from the gym and onto the Ushioda Family residence. The sun was already below the horizon by the time the three arrived at the front gate. Just for insurance, Tenya knocked on the gate to see if anyone was keeping watch on it. No response came, opting Tenya to push the gate open into the empty courtyard.}
Tenya (looking around): “Jeez, is Kohei running low security again?”
Raiden (peeking in): “Is there no sign of anyone?”
Tenya: “Courtyard's completely empty. Not even a single guard or anything. Just dead silence.”
{Tenya steps inside the small courtyard, followed by Raiden and then Takuma who closes the door behind the three. The three looked up toward the top of the residence, light radiated from the room in a dim display thanks in part to the old windows.}
Tenya: “The light’s on at least. Probably just waiting for us upstairs.”
{The three men make their way up the small flight of stairs leading into the building, Tenya pushing the doors open to what laid before them, rendering the one-eyed ex-yakuza speechless.}
Tenya (muttering): “What the fuck…”
Takuma (confused): “What?”
Tenya (concerned): “Something tells me we aren’t alone.”
{He gestures to the other two to move in closer, leading the men into the now trashed first floor. Furniture laid broken and scattered across the room in multiple parts. The walls, once a clean off-white, now riddled with various holes of all sizes ranging from fist to head-sized serving as the new decor. Artwork also laid torn up on the floor with scraps of paper now in ripped up piles with the frames bent and crushed.}
Raiden: “The hell?”
Tenya: “Someone got here before us and this destruction is already giving me an idea as to who.”
Raiden: “You don’t mean…”
Tenya: “Can only pray I’m wrong, Raiden. Come on, we’ll take the stairs to the top floor rather than the elevator. At least we’ll have some room to work with if someone tries attacking.”
{The two others nod in agreement, following Tenya down the western hall in a jog, winding through the building up until they reach the staircase, immediately hurrying up the steps as thoughts begin to race through their mind on what could be waiting for them at the top of the residence. Reaching the top floor, the three immediately race for Kohei’s conference room, Tenya a few steps ahead of the other two. Rounding one last corner, he stops in front of the large double doors leading into the room. Not wanting to waste time, he shoulder checks the doors open, stumbling into the room.}
Tenya: “Kohei!”
{Raiden and Takuma just catch up to the entrance in time to here a body hit the floor with a loud thud. Stopping a few feet from the entrance, the two pause in their sprint to and try and determine what just occurred. Before long, a familiar figure to both men steps out from the room, pistol in hand as he greets the two a smug grin that they easily recognize as belonging to one man: Jin Kojima.}
Jin: “Took you two long enough to get here.”
Raiden (angered): “Where’s Tenya?”
Jin: “On the floor, taking a snooze. Relax, I didn’t kill him...yet.”
{Raiden’s fists quickly curl up into fists, looking ready to pounce but Jin quickly aims the gun at the AWF talent.}
Jin (smugly): “Easy there big boy. I wouldn’t try anything rash unless you want me to cripple your chances of wrestling with a few bullets. Same goes for you, Takuma. Fucking traitor.”
{In turn, Jin turns the gun on Takuma, who only gives him a blank look but looking at the man’s eyes, one can easily detect the burning hatred that Big Tiger holds against his former oath brother.}
Jin: “Now that you guys are here, business can finally get on its way. Raiden, you got someone in the room who’s been wanting to chat with you for a while. Takuma, you’re staying out here with me so we can talk out our…’differences.’”
{The two exchange glances, Takuma giving Raiden a nod of assurance before turning his attention back to Jin who still his sights aimed at Takuma. Letting out a disgruntled sigh, Raiden heads into the room, carefully moving his way past Tenya’s unconscious body as Jin closes the doors behind him. Across the way, sitting on the black sofa is a man with short hair, parted down the middle on both sides with a bit of stubble, dressed in a brown suit with tan pinstripes with matching pants and shoes. He looks up at Raiden from his position with cold eyes, causing Bone Cold to tense up even more.}
Man (nonchalant): “About time the man of the hour showed to see me personally.”
Raiden: “Where’s Kohei?”
Man: “In a safe place. Wish I could say the same for the men he had guarding the place tonight but Jin took liberties in dealing with the unconscious schmucks.”
Raiden (seething): “Who the hell are you?”
Man: “You’re honestly asking me a question like that? I thought bringing Jin along would’ve been a bright enough sign as to who the fuck I am, Raiden. Satoshi Akagawa, Second Patriarch of the Akagawa Family.”
Raiden (stunned): “...!”
{Satoshi points to the pin on the left side of his jacket, the light easily capturing the gleam of the gold.}
Satoshi (rubbing his hands together): “Lately, information regarding you has finally been reported to me after Jin finally got out of hospital thanks to you putting him in a coma for a few months time. To think you went from a salaryman to just...this.”
Raiden: “You know nothing about me!”
Satoshi: “Says the man trying to play the hero. You’re not exactly well-hidden like you were before I had Jin get you involved in this kind of shit. Almost know everything about you practically. Born in Kyoto, moved to Osaka after graduating from university, saw your friends get killed off by my old man, and now we’re here. Finally having a one-on-one talk.”
Raiden: “Grrr....”
Satoshi (folding his arms): “Allow me to be upfront with this: There’s no way you’re escaping this rabbit hole you’ve fallen into. Once you assaulted Jin the way you did, that’s when I knew you had stepped over the line and accepted fate. Tired of being bullied around you finally lashed out and just about nearly killed the man on the spot. Had that baseball shot been any lower and you would’ve snapped his neck probably. Be thankful you didn’t kill him though, otherwise, I would’ve personally seen to your little remaining pack of friends eradicated in a fashion much more brutal than how your buddy Jotaro and his little gang wound up.”
Raiden: “...Fuck you.”
{Satoshi flashes Raiden a bit of a smirk as he stands up, unfolding his arms and sliding his hands into his pants pockets.}
Raiden (fuming): “If you even so much as send one man after my friends, I will personally see you get put on the Express Train to Hell.”
Satoshi (laughing): “Please, as if you could even get to me.”
Raiden: “I will wipe that shit-eating grin off your face right now if you want.”
Satoshi (smugly): “Need I remind you who’s out in the hallway right now? Unless you want a hail of bullets to the back for your efforts, don’t even think about trying to test me.”
{Raiden’s fist immediately tighten at the thought of it, knuckles turning white as Satoshi continues to laugh at him.}
Satoshi: “You really do try to play the tough guy. Can practically see your legs shaking, Raiden.”
Raiden (blankly): “.....”
Satoshi: “Allow me to give you a lesson real quick, matter of fact, let me re-educate you on something here in the yakuza world: I run this city’s underground world and you don’t have a damn say in what goes because you’re just a civilian. It’s the common folk that needs to learn to keep their noses out of the shadows but you just had to go and search for answers after the whole Jin debacle. Should’ve learned to deal with it but of course, Takuma had to go and have a change of heart there. Heard he even burned all the paintings he had of my dad.”
Raiden (fuming): “And what of it?”
Satoshi: “If he’s asking for a death sentence with that treacherous act, you and your friends may as well serve as collateral if he keeps ducking us. You two are walking on very thin fucking ice and I suggest you get off it quickly and learn to roll with how I run things. Dogs are supposed to obey their masters, not go against them.”
Raiden: “Fuck you!”
Satoshi (smirking): “Gonna take a lot more than curse words to hurt me, Raiden.”
{Satoshi paces around the sofa and slowly makes his way over to Raiden, standing shoulder to shoulder with him as they face opposite directions.}
Satoshi: “Re-educate yourself on how you’re supposed to go with this show, Raiden. Once you learn how to properly run with, then life will get easier. Keep resisting the change...well, guess we’ll have to see what happens. If anything, either Sora or Reina will serve as good practice for my boys in their...free time.”
Raiden: “...!”
Satoshi (chuckling): “I think that’s enough chit-chat for one night between us boys. I’ll leave you and your little crew to yourselves for the time being but if you continue to cross me, I will personally shatter your will to live.”
{He pats Raiden on the shoulder before taking his leave, opening one of the double doors and walking through it with Takuma entering the room moments later.}
Jin (sarcastically from afar): “Have fun cleaning up our shit!”
{JIn lets out a maniacal laugh as him and Satoshi head into the elevator, heading back down to the first floor. Back in the room, Raiden seats himself on the sofa closest to him, holding his head in his hands while Takuma goes to tend to Tenya.}
Takuma: “The hell are we supposed to do now?”
Raiden (at a loss): “...I don’t know…”
{Breathing in and out deeply, Raiden reaches into his right pocket, pulling out his phone and unlocking the screen. Immediately he goes into his contacts list, tapping a name on the screen and raising the phone to his ear as the shot fades out.}
{The scene fades back to Raiden quietly sitting on the sofa where Satoshi was minutes ago, his phone lying face down on the glass coffee table. His elbows sit on his knees with a palm over fist sitting in front of his mouth that he leans his chin on, blankly staring at the phone.}
Raiden: “If there’s one thing that I’ve known for a while now, it’s that no one likes hearing or being told the truth. Mostly we refuse to accept such things that have occurred and live in a state of denial until we cave in and with grief and anger, we finally accept the circumstances. Normally, I’d be one to just move on with it and go about my daily life with the thought in the back of my mind but lately, seems like testifying against certain things that hold some truth are actually quite...enjoyable.”
{He eyes flick up towards the camera.}
Raiden: “One such case I’ve been finding myself amused with is the man I beat a little over a month ago: Bobby Barratt. Man’s now standing at the top of the organization with the X*Crown just like his buddy Jack and he’s also got that End of Days Briefcase to use should things not go the Iconic way. If I were you, Bobby, I’d be prepared for things not go all according to plan like you Icons always manage to do no matter what whether it be dirty tricks or sheer dumb luck.”
{He lets out a long-winded sigh.}
Raiden: “Things just always seem to fall into your laps because of your antics but then you cry wolf when you get a taste of your own medicine. Remember Prestige 26, Bobby? We were having ourselves a fun little match and then The Icons’ favorite person, Seth Dillinger, walked out to just spectate for a bit but you thought he was gonna try some funny business and look what happened. Pinned with a schoolboy and how do you react? By assaulting me with some brass knuckles and a few kicks for good measure because you don’t know how to accept a loss with grace. No wonder all the Icons blend so well with one another. All these massive, inflated egos thinking you’re the best in the company and that you deserve everyone’s respect and that everything is just Iconic.”
{Raiden shakes his head at the thought.}
Raiden: “I bet that’s how you imagine your perfect world if Jenny hadn’t been murdered. Maybe then you’d be a happier soul but no, we got this British brat who takes anything in whatever way he can like a dirty bastard. A man who thinks he has the world in the palm of his hand and that he can control it in whatever way. Lemme clarify something for you Bobby: All you’re doing is serving time as the person that Jack once was before that fire of yours gets snuffed out at Supremacy. I’ve had the chance to vie for this title twice and both times your Icon buddy managed to get away lucky because Jackson Steele served as the wedge. Now with Jack and Steele out of the equation, I’ve got a straight shot at claiming what should’ve been mine several months ago. Only difference is that you’re now the man on the chopping block and I’m the executioner, ready to bring the axe down on a false king and strip him of his title.”
{He lets his arms drop to where he’s leaning towards the camera with his elbows on his knees.}
Raiden: “I’m not letting your little group escape with the X*Crown for the third straight time. I’ve been out for blood since I had the chance to compete for the belt at Night of Champions and if taking the belt means spanking you back into the ground, then I’ll gladly make sure that I’m the one who sends you back for an early shower after I bash your brains in a little. For so long, I’ve been waiting to see where the blood trail will end and now I see where you’re camped out at, still trying to tend to that wound I gave you. Now...I’m here to finish the job and kill the man that is the so-called Icon Prodigy. I’ll make sure to enjoy every moment of me snapping your arm in half as I watch your hopes of remaining champion fade from your eyes.”
{He stands up from the sofa and starts making way for the door.}
Raiden: “Run all you want, Bobby, but once I’ve picked up the scent of blood, I intend to kill what’s alive. I’ll make sure history repeats itself once I sink my fangs into your throat.”
{He pulls the door wide open, leaving the large room as the door slowly closes shut with the camera fading to black.}
