The distant chorus of “Naysayer” by Architects can be heard still playing in the background as the sweating and slightly blood stained figure of Raiden Ishimori walks into the backstage interview area, his half of the Double Down Championship sitting in his hand with a tight grip as he holds at the back of his neck with a grimace. Reiss Smith-Rowe approaches from outside the frame as Raiden looks to the side, seemingly looking for Fenrir but there’s no immediate sign of the masked talent but it can be assumed he’s somewhere nearby. Reiss adjusts his dark brown suit jacket, microphone in hand as he cautiously approaches Bone Cold.
Reiss: “Ehm…Mr. Ishimori, a few words?”
Raiden (groaning): “What?”
Reiss: “Well…congratulations on retaining the SCCW Double Down Championship alongside Fenrir after beating The Immortals in that lengthy contest of that Landmine Deathmatch. How are you feeling currently?”
Raiden: “Like I got fucking bulldozed five times over. Christ alive…I knew he had some serious power in that arm but it’s a very, very different story when you’re on the receiving end of it.”
He faintly chuckles.
Raiden: “It matters little though. We came out on top and that’s all that matters. Harbingers still reign supreme in the tag division of SCCW and at the rate we’re going, it’s only a matter of time before we decide to cash in an opportunity to hunt those who are hanging onto the Global Tag Titles. What success we had in J-ROK during our tenure though, we’re bound to repeat it but this time with more gold to our names. The Sakura Tag League was robbed from us two years ago but I promise you by the end of this year, if not by the beginning of 2023…The Harbingers are going to be the ones sitting at the top of the tag team division. Period.”
Raiden lightly shoves Reiss out of the way, taking his leave from the area. A minute later, Fenrir shows up with not one, but two title belts in hand, having won the XHF Junior Heavyweight Championship earlier on in the night. His breathing is rather heavy, no doubt the wear and tear of having to wrestle twice in one night, though he probably would be off worse at the moment had he not managed to somehow avoid tripping one of the landmines earlier in the night. Compared to Raiden, Reiss regards The Chaotic Son with a lot more caution, extending the mic out to Fenrir at an arm’s length with a silent gesture to get the man’s thoughts. The masked wrestler looks down at the microphone, chuckling with a bit of a sinister tone as he drapes his half of the Double Down titles over his shoulder and keeps the JHW belt in hand, snatching the microphone from Reiss before turning to the camera.
Fenrir: “Chaos reigns supreme!”
A near hysterical laugh erupts from the man, pressing his face up to the lens so only his eyes are the one thing visible.
Fenrir: “The longest reigning International Champion has now become the top Junior Heavyweight in the entire Network and now chaos sits upon the throne as its ruler! Fenrir has achieved what some thought wouldn’t be doable given Dar’s feat of winning Cruiserfest but it was SHE who was first eliminated tonight!”
He pulls away from the camera, still laughing in between breaths.
Fenrir: “This…is only the beginning, but no longer as Fenrir. No…like Raiden, that masked era has now reached its conclusion…”
He grabs at the white mask and aggressively pulls at it, yanking it off from his head to reveal a faintly familiar sight of black hair with some measure of red at the ends of his hair. His gaze comes to meet the camera’s, tossing the mask aside.
“Fenrir”: “Those who might remember my face, you all once knew me as Kazuko Shirai, the nephew of NLW’s Daisuke Miyazaki…but no more am I that young man of sunshine, no…for the past couple of years I’ve been a man of chaos and a harbinger of bad things to come for those who step up to me. No longer do I carry the mantle of Fenrir, no longer am I the man who was once Kazuko Shirai, I am…Chaos Tiger, Daigo Arakawa. Don’t you fucking forget it from this day forward.”
Daigo turns to Reiss and shoves the microphone back into the man’s grasp before taking his leave from the interview area, leaving the interviewer to adjust both jacket and glasses with a bit of shudder.
Reiss: “Well…unexpected but that seems to be typical Harbinger fashion these days, and…now we all know who the last remaining member was. Ehm…up next is the Barbed Wire Deathmatch between Alan Galloway and Hunter Storms for the SCCW World Heavyweight Championship, so Aleister, back to you at ringside.”
The camera fades to black before opening back up to a view of The Gambler’s Den, ring crew still scrambling to put together the ring for the main event while Aleister sits with a momentary look of surprise before resuming his ongoing duties.
