The camera opens up to Reiss Smith-Rowe, one of the more recent additions to the SCCW staff as he adjusts both the tie and jacket belonging to the burgundy three piece suit he currently sports. With a small adjustment of his large rimmed glasses, he addresses the camera with a nod, hands folding together atop the curved desk he sits at.
Reiss: “Good evening SCCW and Network fans alike. My name is Reiss Smith-Rowe, backstage interviewer and reporter for Sin City, and welcome to the first edition of a new series we look forward to running in the months to come known as Reiss’s Pieces. The newsbit will be featuring all talks about what’s happened in recent weeks, thoughts and opinions on the power rankings for each championship, and predictions that myself and my guest will have going forward as to who will have a breakout moment and shake things up. We’re hoping to do one edition at the end of every month if possible, but in this case, it is the beginning of October though it’s close enough.”
He gives a small shrug, chuckling to himself.
Reiss: “Though without further ado, tonight’s guest is someone that everyone is pretty familiar with at this point in time in the year that SCCW has been operating, so please welcome with me tonight, co-owner of Sin City Championship Wrestling, Kingsley Solomon.”
The camera zooms out to reveal the enigmatic CEO of SCCW, hands folded in similar on the desk though he’s evidently leaning forward a bit. Reiss offers a handshake to him which the man obliges, giving a firm shake.
Reiss: “Boss, good to have you as the initial guest here on the show, and welcome.”
Kingsley: “Thank you, Reiss. I’m glad I was able to find time to come on board.”
Reiss (nodding): “Of course. In any case, and to get things started since most of the folks most likely have this question itching their brains as does Aleister-”
Kingsley: “Raiden and Storms I presume?”
Reiss: “That would be correct, yes.”
Kingsley: “Aye, I’ve been aware of their increasingly…violent tendencies. Outburst that exceed even Daigo’s chaotic nature and have actually made him look like the most tame out of the three Harbingers that sit atop the roster with all the gold between them, but even with the association and ties I have with them, I know there’s a limit to how much can be done before it’s considered to be overkill and plainly, just too much.”
Kingsley shakes his head, sighing with disappointment etched in his throat.
Kingsley: “Whilst Daigo was away defending the XHF Junior Heavyweight belt in REIGN, I pulled aside the other two to discuss the concerns and liabilities that were falling on their shoulders. It’s one thing to make sure there’s competition to be had, but it’s another thing when you go out of your way to intentionally eliminate said competition by means of brute force or through injury via submission holds. Given the consistency of it, and the amount of concern I have for the health and safety for the roster of Sin City, I’ve ultimately decided on suspending both of them for the next two weeks, potentially with fines to pay though that’s a decision I’m still pending with Aleister.”
Reiss nods in understanding, turning his chair to face Kingsley a bit more.
Reiss: “And how exactly did the both of them take that decision?”
Kingsley (shrugging): “About as nonchalant as I would’ve expected from them. Not in a condescending manner but just…they more so at least understood the why in regards to their suspension. Knowing those two though, this is definitely going to be a long observational period for them to see how things in their respective power rankings get shaken up given where they stand with Storms sitting at the top with the World Heavyweight Championship, and Raiden now sitting at the top of the High Roller Championship rankings.”
Reiss: “I don’t anyone would put it past them to be studying the competition that remains hot on their heels since this is a major chance for all involved to get some serious momentum behind them going into October, which if I’m not mistaken, a pay-per-view is set for the end of this month, correct?”
Kingsley gives a polite nod in turn.
Kingsley: “That there is. I’m still working on potential names for it but October 27th is when the next major event for SCCW is scheduled. After that, at the latest it won’t be until the end of December for the next one which will be the usual New Year’s Slamboree like we’ve always had. Before that though, Aleister and I have been debating on doing some supercards for the week of Thanksgiving since that holiday is always on a Thursday and with holiday season right around the corner, it seems only fair to go big on the occasion.”
Reiss: “That would certainly be a pleasant treat for all the fans to enjoy. Well, since we’re a bit limited on time here, this is a good time to move onto the next topic at hand and that’s the power rankings and where everyone currently sits in them. We’ll start with the mid-tier championships and then discuss the top prize since that one has been an extremely close race but the other two have had a bit more room between each competitor. So to start, let’s talk about the High Roller Championship.”
Kingsley: “Ooof…even in that one I think it could probably still be considered close considering the people in the top two spots at the moment. You have a Hall of Famer in Eichi who currently occupies the top spot there but right behind him is former World Heavyweight champion, Johnny Maverick, who’s been picking up quite a bit of steam in recent weeks with his victories, especially that swift victory over Glimmergrin this past week. Behind them though, you have Rickey Tressler who, despite losing the championship, definitely has the capability to bounce back and claim it right back but just ahead of him is Andrew Daniels. If I’m being honest, where I initially had Daniels listed as the dark horse, he’s evidently been showing that he can be a top game player with the momentum he’s been riding on. A victory over Maverick or Eichi, or even both for that matter, I think would definitely put him in a strong position to be Raiden’s first challenger.”
Reiss: “Out of the lot, who do you think has the strongest chance?”
Kingsley: “Out of three heavy favorites…I’d say Maverick to be honest. While Eichi is also a super solid guy in the ring, J-Mav has that expertise in both a good ground game and also the ability to just throw people around with suplexes and the like to keep them scrambling. If ain’t Maverick in the end, I would say Eichi but Daniels has a lot of potential to snub it from both of them.”
Reiss (nodding): “I’d say those are some solid picks all-round though personally I’d go with the Hall of Famer in Eichi. Considering how lethal his striking game can be in the ring, all it takes is that one shot to the liver to make you keel over and then he’s got you in prime position for that patented elbow of his. Only person who I think was not scared of that was Storms, and for good reason as we know, but everyone else who’s fallen victim to it can vouch just how deadly that strike is.”
Kingsley nods along in turn, shifting his position in his chair.
Reiss: “Right, onto the next championship is the International Championship that was recently won by Vincent Draven after an arduous journey in his own right and managing to get a measure of payback against Gebin for a few months ago when he beat Draven for the right to face Kendrick Alexander and then beat him for the title.”
Kingsley: “Only for Gebin to find himself in a similar position where Draven knocked him off the throne and took his place. Practically poetic, but in terms of rankings and who has a solid chance…it’s anyone’s game really, even with my bias towards Richard Energy just so I can hear Aleister scream ‘Big Dick’s done it’ on TV would be a blessing.”
A hearty laugh escapes Reiss with the imagery in mind.
Kingsley: ”But that’s not to say that there aren’t solid competitors in that area as we speak. Gebin, like Tressler, could bounce back and get it back, but at the same time, Kenneth Casper has also been on the rise again and putting himself in a strong position to be a suitable contender. If I’m to be completely honest, I think a contendership between him and Energy is what we’ll most likely see, but there’s still time for things to get shaken up depending on how the pieces fall.”
Reiss: “Understandable. I’d also say it’s a fair fifty-fifty between those two to see who could be Draven’s first challenger for the International Championship, but time will only tell over the course of the upcoming weeks who truly wants it more. Now, perhaps our final talk for the evening, there’s the World Heavyweight Championship picture to discuss and how neck-and-neck those talents have been.”
Kingsley nods a few times as he straightens his posture, adjusting his suit jacket.
Kingsley: “It’s definitely been…a roller coaster, to put it one way, because every time you look at the rankings in that section, one person is always going up, doesn’t matter who, and another is always falling down a spot, sometimes two. For a while I know it was Alan Galloway who sat at the top of those rankings but lately it’s been Jason Justice who’s been surging up the rankings alongside Kendrick Alexander who’s been hot on his heels. Hyperion I can almost give a pass too because he has End of Days to worry about so while this pool of contenders is important to him, there is of course the whole tournament to worry about on top of it and there’s also David Goon who’s been struggling to climb up, evidently not helped by what Storms did to him last week.”
Reiss: “Ah, speaking of David, what did doctors have to say about him regarding his current status?”
Kingsley: “From what was passed along to Aleister and I, there were no symptoms of a concussion or any lingering damage, just a very bloody mess from the elbows that Storms wailed on him with. Wasn’t deep enough, thankfully, to require stitches or staples but that’s gonna be there a good while before that heals over completely.”
Reiss: “Glad to hear he’s faring well at least. I’ll admit I had my concerns about him after the beating he was given, but knowing his history and who his father is, he isn’t one to exactly let himself buckle and tap out.”
Kingsley: “Pretty much, yeah. He’s the definite dark horse in the power rankings and the strongest out of the bunch are evidently Galloway, Justice, and Alexander, though the latter two have been showing exceptional leaps in form and momentum and I wouldn’t be surprised if a contendership between the two were to take place, but you can never count Galloway out. He’s had his ups and downs, but he’s never one to go down without a fight either like David. As it stands, I’d say Galloway’s the dark horse with either Justice or Alexander the one to be at the top and challenge Storms at the end of the month.”
Reiss: “Fair play, fair play. Perhaps a bit of bias towards the Hall of Famer, but I’d say Justice would be my personal pick on the matter given his ground game which can greatly counter Alexander’s agile offense if The Midnight Hour isn’t cautious around The Warden.”
A small buzzer is heard, capturing both men’s attention, Reiss giving a nod to someone offscreen before turning back to the camera.
Reiss: “Well, that’s the indication that we’re just about out of time here on Reiss’s Pieces but Kingsley, greatly appreciate you being able to come onto the show tonight.”
Kingsley: “My pleasure.”
Reiss: “With that folks, we bid you goodnight and make sure to tune into SCCW’s YouTube channel for the upcoming episodes of Voltage and Ignition, set to air at the usual times of 7 PM, Eastern Standard Time. Until next time, I’m Reiss Smith-Rowe, and thank you for tuning into the first edition of Reiss’s Pieces.”
He gives a small two finger salute while Kingsley casually waves to the camera as it fades to black.
