The shot opens up to the inside of The Gambler’s Den where the seating has been adjusted and compared to the usual spots where most go, has now been turned to resemble that of an auditorium with a stage sitting before all of them. Within the large crowd, several talents of SCCW can be spotted from SCCW World Champion, Hunter Storms, to SCCW International Champion and Hall of Famer, Jason Justice, to SCCW High Roller Champion and Hall of Famer, Eichi Yamaguchi, and SCCW Double Down Champions, Esmur and Gebin. Many are dressed quite formally for the event and there’s a certain buzz in the air amid all the murmurs and varying conversations that are actively being exchanged. Off in one of the corners of the stage, Brayden and Ronnie are actively lounging around, though more so the former as he’s evidently chewing on something, which one can only assume to be an edible of some kind. In due time, the lights gradually begin to dim and darken, silence progressively washing over the crowd until there’s hardly a whisper emitted from anyone. The prolonged silence progresses…until…
FEED ME ADRENALINE!
“Adrenaline” by Bridge to Grace slams on the speakers, as the lights return to their initial brightness and above the stage, several clips are played, highlighting the history of the company ranging from Eichi Yamaguchi taking on Death Trap for the MCCW World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions X, the Five-Way Dance at the first ever Master Clash to crown the inaugural Apprentice Champion, Jason Justice holding up the MCCW World Heavyweight Championship to signify his second reign, Death Trap with one of the X*Crown belts held above him to signify his time in MCCW as X*Crown Champion, The Harbingers holding up their accumulated gold, a side-by-side of Alan Galloway and Richard Energy holding up the SCCW World Championship, and of more recent clips, Vincent Draven winning the most recent edition of the Gold Rush.
After another minute, Aleister Mayfield walks out onto the stage to thunderous applause as the crowd rises to their feet for the long-time commentator and announcer. He raises both hands in acknowledgement as he approaches the podium sitting center stage, further acknowledging the praise and applause being generated until it gradually dies down and everyone returns to their seats.
Aleister: “Much like last year, thank you for that warm reception. It’s great to be hosting this event again, so, welcome to the 2023 SCCW Hall of Fame Ceremony.”
More applause rings out in The Gambler’s Den.
Aleister: “Last year was pretty straight forward with who we decided on being our inaugural inductees, but this year, in all honesty, was a bit challenging. In this company, whether it was when we were constantly touring the country or remaining within our own home here in Sin City, talent can flow in and out here at times like water while others decide to stay and commit themselves to busting their asses off week in and week out. Some people who have done that in the past saw one of two things: Either they managed to bear fruit from their tenacious pursuit, or found themselves still chasing down some sort of prize to reward their efforts. As the way cause and effect operates, it’s imminent that the latter eventually leads to the former provided the hard work continues and even when things seem extremely rough and at times, pointless, there is still a never-say-die aspect to the person in question so long as they see their personal missions fulfilled.”
He clears his throat for a moment.
Aleister: “All this in turn, leads to me introducing this year’s first inductee. A man who has been with us since the very beginning, and someone who was one of the very signings that his company saw in its early days when it was first blossoming before becoming the big name that it is today. I’ll admit that while he is not the most decorated individual among most others, he has fought countless times, tooth and nail, to get what he wants. A man who managed to battle back and bring his record even in both columns, and eventually, lead to him finally winning his first championship with the company after four years, as well as an award to go with it as well. Ladies and gentlemen, I give to you, the first inductee of the SCCW Hall of Fame Class of 2023, The Right-Hand Man, Alan Galloway!”
"God of Waar" by Dirty Wormz hits the speakers as Alan Galloway shows up on the stage in his usual gear. This may be a Hall of Fame ceremony but no way in hell is he getting fancy.
Galloway: "I don't have much to say. This is a really big honor guys. I've been a pillar of this company for years and years. Other people have come and gone but one thing has ALWAYS remained consistent - GALLOWAY IS SCCW!"
Galloway: "I know that my career hasn't been super successful. I don't have a lot of wins and I'm the butt of a lot of your jokes but one thing is certain. NONE OF YOUR TITLES, YOUR WINS, NOTHING MATTERS TO GALLOWAY."
He smirks.
Galloway: "Just because I'm in the Hall of Fame doesn't mean I'm hanging this up. I'm gonna be meaner, I'm gonna be nastier. I will BREAK EVERYONE! Because I am Alan Galloway, and-"
Everyone: "GALLOWAY! IS! GOD!"
As Galloway leaves the stage, Mayfield applauds with the crowd one last time for The Right-Hand Man before retaking his spot at the podium.
Aleister: “A man of few words but like most, he always leaves it all in the ring to let himself be known and heard whenever he steps into the spotlight. We appreciate all the work you put in Alan, and down the road, I’m sure there is another title reign waiting to happen. Back to the topic at hand, our second and final inductee for this year was a bit of a toss up on who to bring in considering the pool of talent with us and who’s been with us from previous years. In recent times though, and especially over the past couple years since their debut with the company back in 2019, this man has risen to new heights that many back then probably wouldn’t think him capable of but he’s proven several times over since his resurgence that he is capable of running with big dogs despite his small size and has managed to stand on one of the pinnacles of the XHF not once, but recently, twice. Ladies and gentlemen, the second inductee of the SCCW Hall of Fame Class of 2023, Chaos Tiger, Daigo Arakawa!”
“The Wicked” by Stone Sour rocks the speakers with an audible growl running through as the guitars hit and out walks one half of the current XHF Tag Team Champions, Daigo Arakawa, with his half of the belts sitting comfortably over his shoulder. A proud smirk rests on his lips as he stands beside the podium, raising his title belt into the air as the crowd continues to applaud him. After another few moments, he takes his place behind the podium, setting the belt back over his shoulder.
Daigo: “You know, of all things to happen in my career thus far…this is probably one I was not expecting but like most surprises, this is a welcome one. It’s been a long journey since I had my big stage debut alongside one of my long-time friends in Brayden when we were Tigre Pequeno and Meme Boi and have since then go on different paths to seek and gain success in our pursuits but one thing is for certain, it lead us to Sin City. While it may not be my home, it was the previous branding that helped me establish myself as a serious competitor outside of the slapstick humor we had in Champoon and then after a spell here, I found myself back home in Japan.”
He sighs for a moment.
Daigo: “I wasn’t expecting to go under the mask again but at the time, it made sense with the formation of The Harbingers and we tore that place up before we all shuffled back Stateside. Four matches in and I had gold in my hands after a couple years by that point and it felt spectacular to be one of the talking points once more, and then there was the Junior Heavyweight Championship that came later, further cementing my status as one of the best in not just this company, but the Network as a whole. Nowadays, I have even more evidence to back myself up.”
Daigo slaps the golden plate of the Tag Team Championship with a chuckle.
Daigo: “This company holds a lot of value in my heart because twice now they’ve helped me reinvigorate and reinvent myself to keep ascending and reaching new heights…and, who knows…since I’ve won the Junior Heavyweight Championship and now the Tag Team Championship with Storms, perhaps the X*Crown is somewhere on that list to win one of these days.”
He shakes his head with a small laugh.
Daigo: “For now though, I focus on tonight. To be inducted is one of the highest honors I’ve ever received in my career and I know while my Uncle Daisuke may shake his head at my decisions on how I pursued my victories, I know he’s proud that I’ve come this far and stuck to the business to follow in his footsteps. So, oji-san, this one’s for you, you old geezer. And everyone, arigato gozaimasu!”
Daigo raises his half of the Tag Team Championship once more before taking his leave from the podium and disappearing back behind the curtain while Aleister reclaims his spot at the podium.
Aleister: “Once again, can we get a round of applause for this year’s inductions? Alan Galloway and Daigo Arakawa everyone.”
The applause echoes around the venue as the screen above the podium flashes to show side-by-side images of the two newest members of SCCW’s Hall of Fame.
Aleister: “With that folks, this year’s ceremony is coming to a close. Thank you all for attending tonight’s event, and we will see you all this Thursday night for this year’s Gambler’s Fortune. Until then, take care, and I will see you all then!”
“Adrenaline” starts back up again as the crowd applauds once more and several chants of “S-CEE-CEE-DUB!” begin to break out as Aleister gives a bow to the crowd before walking off stage, camera fading to black.
