Willy Wonka is a prequel to Ronaold Dahl's novel Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the 1971 movie of the same name that starred the late Gene Wilder. It all begins with a young Willie Wonka sailing to Britain on a ship and no sooner does he depart the ship he gives his Sterlings to various people in need not realizing he would only have one Sterling leftover. Willie needs a place to live so he finds a rooming house run by a greedy and obnoxious couple, who use legalese to keep and force their boarders to work off their debt to them. Willie also encounters Noodle, a girl who he bonds with and they become friends, and she tries to warn Willie not to stay there but he does and winds up working off his debt. He does sneak out one day and begins to sell his candy on the corner to make some money since he wants to open up his own shop, which attracts the attention of the three company heads of The Chocolate Cartel and they do everything they can to close down his business. Needless to say he finds ways of escaping through the manholes untiil he finally gets caught and roughed up by a Bobby, who's on the cartel's payroll but still it doesn't stop Willie Wonka who helps the four other tenants escape and he brings them to the shop he saw when he arrived and they hide there while he works on his creations. When he does open it's quite a successful debut only for it to be sabotaged by the cartel and the customers trash the store. Unknowing to him a Ooopa Loompa tracks him down and demands his candy back and The Chocolate Cartel tells him to leave town. Willie does but changes his mind and dives into the harbor just when the ship explodes. He hatches a plan of his own to get even that even the gang in Ocean's 11 wouldn't have dreamed of involving stealing an accounting ledger and getting rid of The Chocolate Cartel once and for all. I liked this movie and the performances were excellent especially Timothee Chalamet, last seen in the movie Dune Part 1 with Dave Bautista, as Willie Wonka. I admit there were parts that were a bit silly but still it doesn't take anything away from this prequel. I hope people see this movie while it's still in the theaters. They will have a great time and leave with a sweet taste in their mouths.
