Universal has always been known for its monster movies such as Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Werewolf and, of course, the King of the American monster movies Dracula. Well Universal has broken ground by producing the first ever pre teen vampire movie called Abigail and no it's not a dedication to Bray Wyatt...Okay maybe The Twilight Movies came before but they were teen vampires not pre teen. Anyway, Abigail is about a group of desperate people who plot to kidnap this ballet dancing little girl named, obviously, Abigail who was practicing her routine and follow her home to her mansion. When they do kidnap Abigail and take her to another mansion for ransom she warns one of the kidnappers about being sorry for what's in store for them. One of the kidnappers suggests they just let her go but the leader won't hear it which if considered would never be a movie while, Dana the heroine of the movie, uncuffs her. Well needless to say they begin dying one by one in typical vampire ways and they make spikes just to defend themselves in typical vampire movie ways. They also could have either lured von Helsing or Buffy the Vampire Slayer to save them but they wouldn't be available and Buffy is from another studio. There's one scene where they manage to place Abigail in a cell and she reveals all their secrets and admits she lured them all there as revenge for what happened to her family and to play cat and mouse playing with them...Their a well known crime family and her father runs the criminal empire. There is a final three way confrontation between Abigail and Dana and this jerk of a cop, Michael who wants to kill Abigail before her father manages to track her down. I loved the acting, especially newcomer Alisha Weir as Abigail, with her innocence and her ability to go vampire in seconds and Giancarlo Esposito as the Renfield like Lambert is creepy but effective. There are some real fun and silly moments in Abigail as well as gory moments in Abigail but I still loved this movie. I hope this movie has a long box office run because Abigail has bite.
