I've never done this on a message board before, so there may be some teething problems. Once we've sorted out peoples characters I will begin to post what is happening, and cue you all up to respond. A DM post will go something like this:
You look around the room, and see an overweight, balding man bent over what could only be explained as piss bucket - vomiting wildly. He mumbles something to you, but all you can understand is the word "Mongo"
What do you do?
[Reply open to -character name-, -character name-]
If you are called to roll a dice, you simply post the number you got. If you're doing an action/attack/something fancy that needs a dice roll you simply type "I'd like to do ACTION" and then I will reply.
We'll see how things go for the first couple of threads and if we need to change anything.
A key note to bring up. DM is GOD. If I say something doesn't work, it doesn't work. If you disagree with something, i.e. the rules from the book say something else? Message me privately, do not bring it up in a thread.

Would it be a problem that the we’d be self reporting our rolls? Sounds like we could lie and say we passed the DC right?
I’d say, if we weren’t gonna do this on roll 20 or with a web cam? The DM would have to be the one to roll everything.
So is this a made up D&D campaign? Like not from an official D&D module? That’s kind of cool. Will everything else work like D&D leveling up and such?

Yeah. I think the mod doing it is fair.

Also what’s the deal with the parenthesis? Looks like code?
Is there a reason for that? Couldn’t we just type whatever we say or do?

It was just an example (in reference to the "code") it is a reskin of the Forgotten Realms, i.e. this is just another realm within the world of D&D. Experience, levelling up, skills, abilities, magic are all the same.

I have no issue rolling my own. I find an epic fail as entertaining as passing a roll.

I have no problem with people rolling their own. If you cheat, your cheating yourself really. Certain rolls I will take over, but I'll state as such in a post.

I'm easy however we decide to play it. Though I think we should all do the same thing. As you say cheats only cheat themselves.
