JUNE 2018
The past month has seen some humongous changes and moves in the AWF! With June now a rap, we can look back on the highlights and awardees of June and our annual slamfest, Clash of the Icons.
With former champion Jackson Steele turning his back on the federation and stealing the AWF Heavyweight Championship in the process, there was a rush to find a new belt. Current AWF Champion Hyperion faced off against Bobby Barratt in a record breaking match to unify the titles.
The State of Ohio Championship was hard fought for too, with Seth Dillinger and first-ever champion Jason Justice biting for the gold. However a last minute surprise entrance by Maverick really set things off!
The XHF Phoenix Championship got no rest in June, with stars gunning to take home the prize. Current champion Thomas Reece had a war on his hands, with not one but five other challengers in one match!
#5: The Nihilists
Who are the Nihilists? Where did they come from? Rumors have been flying around backstage and throughout the fan base. They know a lot about the company, from ownership to past clashes, to current superstars. And they have wasted no time in getting started, by putting the hurt of past stars like Kira Izumi, Furanku Furetcha, Danny Ray and Villalobos. Their plans are uncertain but their mission is clear; to inflict pain and destroy the AWF one team at a time!
#4: Bobby Barratt
The first ever AWF Prestige Champion. Bobby set a record with his victory at Clash of the Icons, and secured his name in AWF's Hall of Fame. Not only beating the 'God' Hyperion, Bobby KO'd him so hard he forgot who he was! He knocked the Hyperion out of James Knox, and unified both his Prestige Class championship with Hyperion's AWF Heavyweight Championship. Bobby has locked in his name as the AWF's Icon.
#3: Natasha
Entering the AWF with her partner-in-crime Chris Card. Managing the star for near 18 years, the duo have broken bones and records across the wrestling circuit, now looking to make the AWF their home. At Clash of the Icons Natasha walked int the match as the underdog, the vicious snarling underdog. She took on current champions and former champions, beating everyone from preachers to stoners, to weirdos. Natasha won her first match in the AWF and went home with a couple of big wins...the XHF Phoenix Championship, AND becoming the FIRST EVER FEMALE AWF CHAMPION!
#2: Jack Diamond
The Ace of Spades, Jack Diamond. Jack has had a string of success since his return to action, putting down opponents left and right. However the biggest game of all, his biggest catch...the X*Crown Championship. Defeating Rob Arnold at Blood Money, Jack brought home the bacon and returned the Crown to the AWF where it belongs. Jack added his name to a long list of champions, however following a controversial loss to Michael Storm at Clash of the Icons, Jack Diamond is now looking to fight for his title at Night of Champions once more.
#1: Michael Storm
Years have gone by, trying and trying to win the X*Crown Championship. Storm has fought countless opponents, defeated giants of men and faced off against grizzly bears, robots, Gods and pigs. But finally, after multiple failed efforts Michael Storm finally gets to hold the X*Crown Championship over his head!...if he wakes up that is. Following a heinous battle with Jack Diamond at Clash of the Icons, Michael Storm was able to put down the Ace of Spades and win the prize he covets the most, but at a cost. CTE and hydrocephalus have lead Storm to falling into a deep coma and his future is uncertain. We at the AWF wish Michael a speedy recovery, and look forward to seeing him in battle once more as our X*Crown Champion!
