Caleb stomped down the steps towards his apartment on the Koresh Compound. He turned the key and pushed open the door and stooped his head to get under the door. Being close to seven foot tall, and weighing at least four hundred and twenty five Pounds was good for combat but living in this basement was a bit of a bit for a monster like him. Caleb seemed to have a form of regressive atavism, meaning that he had inherited traits of a reptile. His skin was hardened making him look like a real life Kaiju. He carried with him a plaid bag.
He walked up to the large shrine made of animal bones that was sat to one side of the room. He looked at the human skull that was sat on it. There was a ratty couch, with rat bones scattered over it directly behind it. The fluorescent lights, old and flickered, barely lit this hellhole, but Caleb didn’t care really care about lights these days.
“So I’m back Jebediah, I’ve brought you a tribute of sorts,” Caleb reached into the bag as he spoke to the skull of his cousin. “I humiliated my opponent at Anarchy that I don’t think he’ll be back, well not in one piece anyway. He was totally destroyed. Joe Beb was broken in two.”
He pulled out a jar full of some kind of weird liquid. There was something floating in the murky liquid.
“Jebediah, this is for you cous, I don’t think Joe will need it anymore,” Caleb said. “I had to come in and make an example for those other mere mortals in the company. The King of the Monsters has to get out of the shadow that Nocturnal has left for us to get out of but I think I am doing that. Emily was key in selling it as I know she was big in helping to put over her brother for this long. I’m sick of being a Supreme as it’s my time to be Diana Ross.”
“Diana Ross? What sort of weird ass shit you talking about cous?” a voice said. “You are a monster amongst men and the sooner you work that out the better it will be for the family.”
“Jebediah, I know what you are saying,” Caleb said to the skull. “But you know as well as I do that he is a big character to follow. But this monster is going to eclipse him and be the premier big man in this industry. And with whatever match that I get booked in at Pandemonium I will prove it. I want to prove to Alexander that he needs to take me serious and think of putting me as the number one contender for whoever wins between Shane Mitchell and that painted freak D.”
“You think you deserve that do you?” asked Jebediah. “You’ve only had a couple of matches in Riot Star Wrestling whilst those two have been wrestling for decades. I know you think that you’re the next big thing but you’re just a rookie when it comes to them.”
“Rookie?” said Caleb as he bared his sharpened teeth in a smile. “I have been this enforcer sort for the family for years as well as you know it and I haven’t ran from any goddamn challenge Jeb. This is what I am. The King of the Monsters will destroy anyone they put in front of me and maybe those guys on the Network will hide their X-Crown as Caleb may come for that one day as I know Nocturnal never got his hands on that strap.”
“Now that is a thing to go for,” Jebediah said. “You should just challenge that homeless bum who had the network belt on that other network we were a part of? Casper Carter, right? Being the first person in RSW to bring anything back from that Network other than crabs like those Awoken punks did will be a worthy thing, don’t you think?“
“Never a truer thing has left your lips Jeb,” Caleb muttered as he knew his cousin told the truth. “But until that happens I will bring you tributes for you. I think that the company has had it easy for a while, and now that the family is back in the ring it is time for us to make an impact. I was sick of all the happiness that we had brought to the company. We went from being one of the most hated entities within the business to a much loved faction that was cheered by not only those in the arena but those punks sitting on their couches in Koresh Family merchandise at home. I had to grit my teeth through that all as I just wanted to destroy everyone. Even when I was partnered up with one of Nocturnal’s little science projects Eddie Havok I wanted to break the kid’s freaking neck.”
He looked at Eddie Havok’s biker gang jacket that was laid at the back of his altar of sorts.
“Did you know he wrestled a bear once? Where’s this guy now anyway?” Caleb said. “Last I heard they’d deported him back to the United Kingdoms for being a douchebag failure. Too bad, as I’d have loved to pull off each of his limbs and clubbed him to death with them. Now that would have been fun; real bloody funny don’t you think?”
“Who you talking to Caleb?” a voice said from out of the darkness. “I’m sure there were two different voices I heard as I came down your stairs.”
Emily Koresh exited the darkness and stood before Caleb. She was dressed in her usual dark, provocative clothing, leaving nothing to the imagination.
“Who were you talking to?” she asked again. “Anyway, just got a message from my brother, you’ve got a match to prepare for at the next pay per view. Pandemonium is going to be where you show people that you are the real thing Caleb.”
“So I got a match?” Caleb asked as he turned back to Emily. “Have they given me what they would class as a tough match as punishment to what I did to Joe Beb? Is there someone else that I can leave in a broken mess in the centre of MY squared circle?”
“I like it,” Emily smiled as she sat down on the couch. “I like this new change in attitude, gone is the chilled man that happens to look like a real monster and now the real monster is amongst us. This King of the Monsters is going to put you into the eye line of the whole promotion. This is freaking cool Caleb.”
“Are you going to tell me who I’ve got or are you going to continue to blow smoke up my ass?” Caleb asked as he got even more frustrated with the way she played with him. “I need to know who I’m going to destroy; so don’t keep me in suspense.”
“Okay,” Emily said taken aback by this new attitude from Caleb. “As you know Pandemonium is all about stipulations right? Well your match is a four way dance; but with a difference. There will be three stipulations in the match.”
“Three?” Caleb asked. “Should I ask what they are? With Nocturnal and that Esmeralda chick being thrown together to sort out stuff for RSW it could be anything. Please tell me it’s not a Bra and Panties match, right?”
“Who knows,” Emily said with a smirk on her face. “The stipulations are random and can change at any time which is the whole point of the show; but you in a bra is just wrong on so many levels. Anyway the four people you are facing are, Joe Beb…………………..”
“What?” Caleb interrupted her. “How is he even walking? He should be in a hospital after what I did to him. How can that eunuch be cleared to wrestle? Is he that pissed off with me that he’s gone against medical advice? Maybe he wants something back that was taken from him but it’s not his anymore as it’s my trophy.”
“Trophy, what?” Emily said. “Nocturnal said that the medical staff couldn’t find his penis after the match? Do I want to know? Never mind, anyway, yes he’s wrestling. As well as him is the self-proclaimed hard-core legend Steve Murdock and some new comer called Mila Rader.”
“Mila?” asked Caleb. “Wait, that’s the little girl that was in the locker room last show right? She is a professional wrestler. Does she think she can stand in the ring with someone like me? What is she? Like sixteen or seventeen? She is just a kid and the King of the Monsters will not let her get one over on me because they want to do some kind of Beauty and the Beast scenario down the line. Not on my watch. She will get destroy like anyone else they put in front of me.”
“And Murdock?” she asked. “He’s used to a bit of hard-core shenanigans. He won’t be one that will take this lying down, well until the end when he’ll be looking at the lights for the one, two, three.”
“He doesn’t know what hard-core is Emily,” Caleb said. “He’s probably had it so easy over the years that he’s been wrestling and has never faced anyone like me. He will probably be sitting in his trailer park at the moment crying into his cereal at the thought of facing the King of the Monsters. Screw him. Now this is going to be fun.”
“And that’s not even the fun part of the match,” Emily said. “The winner of this match gets to be the number one contender for the RSW Anarchy Championship belt. So when you destroy the three of them you get a chance to face either Senor Vinnie or Isaiah Zepp for that strap. Whichever of those two punks wins at Pandemonium loses. It’s going to be fun stuff.”
“Now this is very good news don’t you think Emily?” he said. “This world is rotting beneath our feet Emily. But what can we do about it when people are bacteria that infects and destroys it. They King of the Monsters will end this world not just for them but because of them.”
“You know that as a child, I wanted nothing more in life than to be powerful like Nocturnal,” Caleb said. “I did my best to appease him. I tried to be just like him but it was never good enough. As a child, I wanted nothing more in life than to be powerful like him. Nocturnal, instead of entrusting me with his dark kingdom, he kept me down. He deceived me with scraps; but now this is my time Emily. And with this match the time of clobbering will have started. Have you never wanted to do something just for yourself Emily? Has it always been about him?"
“I did do stuff for myself,” Emily stuttered. “Remember I was a professional wrestling in NEW and UTA all by myself. Especially my stuff in NEW when Alexander had disappeared with that brain thing. I do know what you’re saying especially now he’s taken on a managerial sort of role we need to step up and keep the families name out there. He could have chosen anyone from the family to do it but he chose us. You’re up for it right?”
“Do you need to ask?” Caleb said sarcastically to his cousin.
“I know,” she replied. “Anyway another piece of news is that the show after this will be Anarchy 50, the anniversary show Caleb. There are going to be so many people showing up from the past; Alexander has an idea to not only put you on every bodies radar but also he might even come out of retirement for one night only and compete at that show.”
“Really?” Caleb mocked. “The old man’s going to strap on the boots again?”
“Don’t let his age hide that he can still bring it Caleb,” Emily said. “This is a big thing for not only the company but especially for the family. We will be out there as a group at Pandemonium as we’ve got to speak as one group Caleb; you down with that?”
“Of course,” Caleb muttered. “Now leave me to my meditation.”
