Victory.
It doesn't happen too often for Marcus Anderson. He has not lived up to his father's standards in winning at any cost. Though he gave a good representation of his father in wrestling Andi Snow. He was vicious. He was merciless. Andi didn't stand a chance. Now he has a match against Dexter Payne and rumor has it that the winner of such a match will go on to face Shane Mitchell at Shadow Wars for the World title.
Marcus Anderson walks outside of the staff entrance to the arena in New York City and lights a cigarette. He blows smoke into the air in contemplating his own future. Should he even be a professional wrestler? When does he decide that enough is enough and become a wrestling manager like his father did? Though mind his father had to become a manager after he was blacklisted from actually wrestling in the ring. Too many injuries had resulted from opponents taking him on. The roster had taken too much of a hit for him to be allowed to continue his ways in the ring.
The door opens behind Marcus and Nelle walks out into the warm air. She has a tight red dress on, recently purchased just before the show. She accepts a cigarette from Marcus and lights it.
NELLE: You were a bit strong in the ring, but it looked good.
Marcus nods, flicking ashes onto the ground.
MARCUS ANDERSON: I was a bit too strong. A little over rambunctious in my drive to become the winner. I'm glad Andi wasn't hurt and hope she comes back soon.
NELLE: Did she go someplace?
MARCUS ANDERSON: Her sister is having some trouble with the pregnancy and needed help at home so she went to help.
Right about then a limousine pulls up and a man in a business suit steps out of the back. A man in the corporate business suit of the Warhammer Corporation. Marcus narrows his eyes in recognition of the man.
Enoch Camble. Head of Acquisitions for Warhammer North America. The very man responsible for Allen Anderson joining the Warhammer Corporation in the first place. He's in his seventies though looks like he's in his fifties. Marcus used to play with Enoch's grandchildren way back when before his father began doing dark deeds for the company. Enoch's family has been working for Warhammer North America since the Jalabert family founded Warhammer North America.
MARCUS ANDERSON: Why are you here, Mr. Camble? My father has been long dead. There's nothing for us to discuss.
Enoch Camble smiles in familiarity.
ENOCH CAMBLE: Oh please. It's Enoch. I've come to talk to you! Though I am here to talk to you alone so you will need to lose the harlot for awhile.
NELLE: Excuse me?
Marcus takes her by the hand before she decides to smack Enoch and remains firm.
MARCUS ANDERSON: Whatever you have to say to me, you can say in front of her as well.
Enoch looks from Marcus to Nelle and back to Marcus before slowly nodding.
ENOCH CAMBLE: We would like to offer you a position as manager of Tarrasque in GCW. This comes with ownership of the Tentare Corporation and all the assets owned by that company. We don't have anyone who can control the beast and since your father was capable of doing so, we wondered if-
MARCUS ANDERSON: If I could as well. The Tentare Corporation was my father's company within the Warhammer Corporation. He sold to Armand von Krauss!
ENOCH CAMBLE: We have determined that Armand is no longer a fit for the additional assets that he had extorted from your father. We would like to offer you the assets free of charge if you would see fit to take your father's place at the table so to speak.
Marcus tightens his grip on Nelle’s hand. This was his chance to ensure that Armand died for his sins. He could make sure that his father’s memories would not die. His family would be taken care of forever and he would be doing what he wanted to do in being a manager.
However, he would be a part of the Warhammer Corporation. He would be trading his soul in for the power. He would be asked to do...horrible things. Things that would make Armand Von Krauss look like a saint.
MARCUS ANDERSON: Nelle? Can you give me a moment with Enoch?
NELLE: Are you sure?
MARCUS ANDERSON: Yes.
Nelle gives Marcus a kiss and heads back into the arena. Marcus watches her walk into the building before rounding on Enoch.
MARCUS ANDERSON: Tell whomever is currently handling Tarrasque to grow some balls. I'm not joining the Warhammer Corporation now or ever. I will not become my father in following his footsteps through the dark.
ENOCH CAMBRY: We've told him to...do exactly as you say, but we need that Anderson magic to do the trick. We can leave you alone in the wrestling department and you can have control of Tentare. We just need you to manage Tarrasque.
Marcus flicks his cigarette butt to the ground and lights a fresh one.
MARCUS ANDERSON: Let me think on it. I'll get back to you after Shadow Wars.
Enoch stares at Marcus for a long time before answering.
ENOCH CAMBRY: That will be fine. Give me a call once you have made your decision.
Enoch gets back into the limo and it drives off. Marcus continues to smoke his cigarette, knocking at the door to the arena to let Nelle know to come back out, which she does.
NELLE: What are you going to do?
Marcus flicks ashes onto the ground with a small shrug.
MARCUS ANDERSON: I'm going to get ready for Dexter Payne for now. He's a jailbird who thinks that he's bad. Someone should let him know that I eat bad for lunch.
Nelle gives Marcus a WTF look and he laughs.
MARCUS ANDERSON: That sounded doofy even from me. I mean, I'm going to kick his butt. The question really is it going to make me a title shot at Shadow Wars or not? I wouldn't mind for the chance to face Shane Mitchell again.
NELLE: Shane Mitchell? You faced him before?
MARCUS ANDERSON: He creamed me before. I think I can do better this time around. That is once I defeat Dexter Payne. He has been on a roll here. I only hope in Chicago I can continue my roll.
