Marcus Anderson was unused to labor. It wasn’t that he couldn’t do it. He was just unused to the concept. It took some investigating and using Nelle to flirt with a HR rep to get the address to Shane Mitchell’s compound. He gave Nelle enough cash to hide out at a nearby hotel while he went into the belly of the beast to remain hidden from his enemies in the form of Armand Von Krauss’ thugs.
It was a simple matter to slip into the compound. It was delivery day and a truck filled with groceries was being unloaded by the Mopolytes. Marcus merely walked in and began helping to unload bags into the larder. The Mopolytes looked at him funny, but didn't question another hand to help with the work.
Total Mopper did stop him once and asked his name. Marcus quickly gave his name as Marcus Mopperson. It wasn't the brightest to actually give his real first name, but it was the first thing on his mind. The Mopolytes being used to their numbers growing by failed wrestlers, didn't pay him any mind. In fact, they added his given name to the roster, lead him to a room, and assigned him chores to do.
Marcus was especially unused to cleaning, having had a cleaning crew around his mansion all of his life. His father wasn't around to help him in life, but enough money was sent home that Marcus and the others wanted for nothing. Marcus scrubbed a toilet with what could have only been someone's toothbrush...hopefully former toothbrush when Dagvald Moppick walked into the room.
DAGVALD MOPPICK: You don't belong here.
Marcus doesn't look up from his work, though he does notice that the toothbrush has a name on the handle. Dagvald Moppick. He shrugs when he notices this and continues to scrub the toilet.
MARCUS ANDERSON: What makes you say that? I belong here the same as you. Failed wrestler? Long boring promos that no one could stay awake through if they wanted to?
Dagvald shakes his head with a smile.
DAGVALD MOPPICK: You have won matches. You have a title shot against Shane Mitchell coming up at Shadow Wars. You’re no Mopolyte! Why are you here?
MARCUS ANDERSON: How do you know all of this? No one else has questioned my being here or even who I am?
DAGVALD MOPPICK: We all watch RSW to support Shane, but I actually pay attention. You faced Shane before and failed miserably. Like a mopolyte would. What makes you think that you can do it now?
MARCUS ANDERSON: I been on a hot streak. I think if I do my best, I can defeat Shane Mitchell in the ring.
Dagvald nods.
DAGVALD MOPPICK: I can't let you do that. INTRU-
Marcus grabs Dagvald and hits the lifting reverse sto, knocking Dagvald clean out.
Marcus stands up and hears a gasp from the doorway. He turns to see CWO Mopper standing in the doorway of the bathroom.
CWO MOPPER: You wrestle can? Guys! Wrestler have we!
Marcus sighs, approaching CWO Mopper in order to take him out too when several more Mopolytes show up with excitement in their eyes. Total Mopper makes his way through the gathering crowd, his eyes narrowing as he looks at Marcus.
TOTAL MOPPER: Marcus Mopperson...I know you from somewhere.
Marcus Anderson sighs, hitting the lifting reverse sto again. This time to the delight of the throng of watching Mopolytes. Bash Mopson now makes his way to the forefront of the crowd. He looks Marcus up and down with a smile.
BASH MOPSON: Marcus Anderson? Why are you here? (He looks to the rest of the Mopolytes with a grin) This is the man who is going to face Shane for the World title!
A round of cheering goes up amongst the gathered Mopolytes while Marcus frowns. Who knew that there might be some seething resentment amongst Shane’s followers.
MARCUS ANDERSON: Why? I'm going to kick his ass and take the title? Isn't that bad for you guys?
BASH MOPSON: If Shane loses the title, he might be more inclined to retire and live in peace with his daughter, Ellie. Our treatment has gone up in nature since she’s come into our lives. Shane retiring can only make things better. Do you want to train with us? When Shane’s gone, we use the wrestling ring he has here. Mopolyte Wrestling Federation lives on!
Marcus raises an eyebrow. Mopolyte Wrestling Federation? What will they come up with next?
MARCUS ANDERSON: Why not? What could go wrong?
BASH MOPSON: This one time, Jaggermop was throwing a punch and...well...he broke his collarbone.
MARCUS ANDERSON: I guess that's something that could go wrong then. I'll be more careful when throwing a punch. Let's do this!
Twenty minutes later, Marcus is standing in Shane’s personal wrestling ring where he had practiced with Ellie. He waits for Total Mopper to enter the ring. Mopper climbs through the ropes, falling on his face as he trips over the bottom rope. Marcus helps him stand up and Mopper hurls him into the ropes.
On the rebound, Marcus ducks under an attempt at a clothesline. He puts on the brakes, and hits a reverse neckbreaker. Total Mopper is still twitching on the mat when Marcus stands up. He looks to Bash Mopson at ringside.
MARCUS ANDERSON: Did I hurt him?
BASH MOPSON: No. He has a tendency to oversell is all.
MARCUS ANDERSON: Oh. (nudges Total Mopper with a toe) You can get up now.
Total Mopper struggles to make it to his feet, but eventually does. He takes a swing at Marcus, who easily dodges it, and hits a lifting reverse sto to lay him out.
MARCUS ANDERSON: This isn't going to work, Bash Mopson. Not unless there’s someone here with actual wrestling talent for me to spar against.
Bash looks around at the gathered throng of Mopolytes and shakes his head sadly.
BASH MOPSON: I just don't think so. You'll have to deal with subpar talents, but we're glad to help!
Marcus sighs and nods his head, rolling Total Mopper out of the ring with his foot. He spends the rest of the afternoon working out with the Mopolytes. Working to hit his finisher out of nowhere to be able to end the match as quickly as possible. Though Marcus understands that Shane is going to be much more difficult.
Marcus stands in the middle of an emptied ring, getting ready to go back to doing some chores around the compound to earn his keep.
MARCUS ANDERSON: Shane Mitchell, you've been on top for so long that it's hard for you to understand what it would be like to have a real challenger. Not only am I a real challenger, but I'm going to claim that World title. I'm going to cement my own name against my father’s legacy with this win.
BASH MOPSON: You going to finish the toilets?
MARCUS ANDERSON: Yeah.
Marcus rolls out of the ring as Bash stealthily hands him another toothbrush to use. It’s Total Mopper’s.
