Roleplay for the End of Day's Night Three X*Crown Qualifiers (vs. Lucas Swann)
September 12th
Feargal’s Basement, Earth IX
Another sleepless night for Maverick and another day in the Infinity Realms as we open the scene to him sitting up in the dressing room where he’s been staying this whole time. Nobody’s heard from Maverick since August 13th, nearly a whole month. Maverick grabs his phone from the desk near him, no service still available on his phone, he lets out a deep sigh before looking over at the door to the dressing room. He slowly walks over to the door, grabbing the door handle and pulling it down to open the door ever so gently. He peeks out the door and looks down an empty, yet lit up hallway, before fully exiting the room and closing the door behind him. Though it isn’t the home of Feargal Nukebuster, or anything close to it, the chills are flowing through Maverick’s body. Along the hallway are multiple doors, a total of five doors to be exact, all painted in white. Maverick looks to the first door on his left, a plaque screwed onto the door with “July 20th” etched into the golden plaque. Maverick takes a moment to think back to that date before taking notice on what happened to that day. He opens the door and walks through, a bright light sucks him in as does the scene which turns to a bright white screen.
July 20th, 2019
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, United States of America
Jessie Love: The winner of the match, “TECHNICAL PERFECTION” CHRIIIIIIIIIS CAAAAAAAAAAAARD.
The voice of Jessie Love echoes throughout the beach as fans are cheering on with Chris Card's win. The bright light shines behind a shed from beyond the beach as Maverick steps out. He looks around and takes notice of the event happening close by, walking over towards it. He looks down at a nearby chair, a hat and a mask that covers up to his nose. Maverick walks through the crowd as we hear Chris Card come through the speakers that surround the crowd.
Chris Card: Jessie, This match marks my 20th year in this business...
Maverick tries to get closer to the ring, pushing through some bystanders and members of the crowd.
Chris Card: ...And the dedicated members of this audience? They’re ones who are here right here...
But as Maverick gets closer to the guard rail, he's stopped by security who drag him through the crowd. One of the security guards let the others walk away to mind the show whilst he handles Maverick by himself.
Maverick: Let me fucking go, you cu-
Maverick is then floored by the lone security guard from one punch, Maverick is quick to get back to his feet but is floored again by the man who looks a little bit bigger and taller than Maverick.
Maverick: What the fuck is your problem, asshole?
Man: You shouldn’t have come here without me.
Maverick looks at the man a little bit confused.
Maverick: I don’t even know who you are.
Man: I think you need to know.
Maverick: ...why?
Man: I have been wandering these different realms for what’s been years, I’ve seen everything that you could imagine.
Maverick: Trump’s assassination?
Man: Seen it.
Maverick: Jenny Stackhouse’s death?
Man: Tragic scene.
Maverick: My losses to Seth?
Man: Those were embarrassing.
Maverick: ...fucking prick.
Man: What did you say?
Maverick: Nothing. Anyway, what the fuck did you mean about the realms?
Man: When you walk through these realms, there are rules that you need to follow. The most important of them all is that you cannot interfere or step close to your past counterpart, that’ll cause a rupture in the Time Vortex.
Maverick: Time vortex?
Man: This is exactly it, this is how you’re over a month into the past.
Maverick: But why here? Why at this exact point in time? What’s the significance of this time and the present?
Man: This is what I’m going to tell you… Do you remember the tale of Scrooge?
Maverick: A classic Christmas tale, I couldn't forget it.
Man: Now remember the ghosts. The ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. That's what I am, something like those that travel's in different multi-dimensions at different time eras.
Maverick looks at the man with an eyebrow raised.
Maverick: Get to the point, twatbag.
The man sighs.
Man: This was your last AWF match, and the last match that you had the most recognition from due to the match quality itself. When you ask anyone about your last few matches, they remember Beach Blast and how close you were to beating Chris Card.
Maverick takes a seat on a bench nearby, as does the man.
Maverick: Bullshit.
Man: Jason, I’m telling nothing but the truth.
Maverick: Yeah fuckin' right, you are.
He says in a sarcastic tone, getting up from the bench and walking off.
Man: Where are you going?
Maverick: Back to the Infinity Realms, what about you?
Man: I have to stay with you, Jason. I was told to protect you at all costs!
Maverick: By who? Feargal? Chap hasn't been seen in a fucking month.
Man: Yes, he told me if Big Drag Dark was to take over the realms in his absence then I was to protect you at all costs. These are his words and not mine.
Maverick: So you brought me back in time to the point where I wanted to just fucking leave? If you'd remember, I was ready to just pack it up on this day. Fuck going to Dublin to do some other show, fuck going to do Master Clash with Drago and then fly out to Wexford and fight in front all my old friends and family. That's what was going through my head at that time, do you think I want to live through this shit again? No I fucking don't for god's sake!
Man: I'm willing to go back to the Infinity Realms with you but I need to you accept who I am and why I'm here.
Maverick: All I know about who you are is this some ghost of my past that brings me to these different realms, making me realize how much I hated being a fucking wrestler.
Man: You never hated your passion on being a professional wrestler, you loved it and you retired in the future wishing you had one more match left in you.
Maverick freezes for a moment, soaking in what the man just said.
Maverick: Wishing I had one more match? Did I retire on my own within age, or by something else.
The man freezes for a moment, in silence. Maverick looks at him and then looks away, knowing what the speechless man means by that.
Man: Let's not worry about it too much, it's not happened and there are plenty of futures existing... It'll depend on what path you take.
Maverick: Promise me one thing.
The man looks at Maverick with a bit of surprise in his eyes.
Man: I uhh... Uh, sure. What is it?
Maverick: Promise me it ain't death.
Man: Is this coming from all the death-defying moves you've performed within the last year? Because there was this one dimension of you who wasn't afraid of death, yet was always scared to death doing those moves.
Maverick: If I didn't end up going into the realms, that sounds like something I'd say for sure.
Man: That's because it was, Jay.
Maverick smirks, a first in a long time as he looks out to the sunset on the beach.
Maverick: You smartarse, I knew you'd say that.
Maverick finds a white door, along the middle of the beach. He walks over and examines it and as soon as he opens it, he notices the hallways from earlier back that resemble the hallways from Feargal's Basement back on Earth IX. Maverick turns back to the man who has already followed him from where Maverick left him to the door.
Man: Well, this is what you wanted. You said it yourself.
Maverick: Can I not stay and stop my "retirement" from happening? I've been fucking regret it for the last two months.
Man: What did I tell you earlier? You can't stay, you'll destroy the time paradox entirely. We've had that happen to someone millions of years ago and the whole thing restarted, not going to allow it to happen again, not until I know it's safe for you to return home.
Maverick: Already regretting walking into door number one, already.
Man: And you'll have many regrets to come later on in your life.
Maverick: Oh don't tell me I'm having a fucking child sometime soon.
Man: Oh no, not at all. Not for another six months anyway.
Maverick's eyes widen, he begins breathing heavily as he looks at the man with a slight bit of anger in his eyes.
Man: I was joking! Come on, let's just go before you attempt to do something you've already regretted again.
Maverick seems to have calmed down as he looks back at the door and walks through, we get a camera shot of behind the man where we pan down to his fingers where they are crossed as he enters through the door. The last shot we see is of the man, looking around the beach before closing the door and locking it. The door fades away as the scene itself fades to black.
