Bio:
A nasty home life drove Arch Stanton from the desert village where he was born. He tore through Texas in a Hot Rod Ford and drifted into petty crime and the fringe problems of street life. He lost his girlfriend to a horrific car accident and landed in jail for armed robbery at 17. It was in prison that he learned about Pro Wrestling from a cellmate. He was released early and went to train on his cellmate's recommendation. The brotherhood and lifestyle of the Wrestling Business kept Stanton alive and out of jail, and gave him an identity.
Stanton broke in during the dying days of Territory wrestling and learned everything he knows from stogie-smoking vets. Because of this, he is something of a throwback beyond his own age. He adapted the sly and aggressive tactics of these vets and quickly made a name as a rough customer. Early problems with drugs and petty crime sullied his reputation to major companies for many years after, but he rarely repeated his past mistakes. He did, however, live up to his reputation as a hothead and partial sadist. His style, and propensity to make enemies, often saw him participating in special match-types - and much of his reputation was made in Steel Cage / Bull Rope / etc matches in the early 2000's.
After coming close to big money and stardom, several regime changes ousted his international contacts and he was once again working in armories and high-school gyms. He burned a few bridges and began to live on the road exclusively, eventually finding his way to UWL in Knoxville. He would come and go, but UWL was his home-base for the next four years. He began to fight for the fans, but remained a wild-card when fired up. He was able to capture the celebrated Heritage Title, as well as the Tag Titles on two occasions. Stanton became a big name in the South East region of the United States, as well as enjoying a certain reputation in Philadelphia and Japan.
During this time, Stanton had returned to Anholt to claim his family home. A large fire consumed the house, but oil was discovered while razing the property. He sold the land and used his resources to block development in the town. The oil had been a town secret, guarded by the 'old families' for many years. He was able to purchase most of the downtown, but used force to appoint himself Sheriff. Many were divided by his open displays of violence, but they were ultimately united in the fight against development. Though arguments with the 'old families' continued, he restored the Main Street to its original state (complete with dirt street) and set up office above the Saloon. Other areas were improved with modern comforts, but Stanton continues to rule the Main Street section - which hosts events that bring large crowds several times a year.
Stanton was injured in a Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight title, being slammed through a table. He spent nearly a year away from the ring, returning perhaps too quickly. He ballooned in weight and was especially haggard. He took revenge on old enemies and developed a few new ones before UWL closed its doors. Rather than retiring or taking more time off, Arch hit the road. He found regular dates with small companies near his home in West-Texas, continuing to make featured appearances in the North East and in Japan.
In 2017, Stanton engaged in a wild, bloody brawl with old rival Hawk Paladin. Both men were hospitalized and Paladin retired immediately after. Stanton refused to ignore his other bookings, despite being injured, and was forced into partial retirement after PWP (San Antonio indie) sold to a larger company. He managed to find a few featured dates a month, preferring to drive himself rather than fly.
While he remains a formidable veteran competitor, Arch Stanton shows most of his miles. In addition to being a bit haggard, he sports a hulking chest/gut. Despite his age and 'past-his-prime' physic, it may be argued that he is more dangerous than ever to his in-ring opponents.
While he has investments in Anholt, The Business remains his entire life and saving grace. He is not afraid of injury, having no remaining aspirations and fighting for the sheer sake of it. It is a passion that borders on mania, one that has kept him alone for many years. He would rather die fighting than submit and is always ready to make his 'Last Stand'.
