The rain and wind from Typhoon Hagibis hits the side of the hows as Fukushima Zombie sits by her window. There is no paint on her face or any makeup. She hides under some covers and holds her knees to her chest. Her entire body shakes and she moves back and forth to control it. She holds a flashlight up to her contorted face full of fear.
“Do you know what I remember from childhood? I remember the tsunami. The destruction of my house and the floating bodies of my family under our roof. That is what I fear. Nature is a beast and the only source of magic in the world. Everything else is in here.” She points to her head. “In the process of playing with our competition sometimes we try to use fear and sometimes we try to use trickery. You tried Mr. Vastrix. I saw your offer and I ahh-”
She covers herself with her quilt as a large surge of wind and rain makes the window in front of her vibrate. She mumbles to herself in Japanese and takes it off her head again after a moment.
“So you learned that I give away most of my money for charities? Do you want to give me some code for money? I do not believe that you will just hand it over. I believe that this is for some reason. Is it out of the goodness of your heart? No… call me cynical but I think you want something out of this. Do you want me to feel some sort of way towards you so that I may be more lenient in our match? Is your intention to distract the people from your selfish ways so that they won’t be swayed by my words? No, you just want to distract me.”
She is getting angrier now and she removes the quilt down to her shoulders.
“Everything I have owned and given since I started fundraising as been earned the right way. I give from my prize money for my matches and I promote my causes with my appearances. Nothing is given for free in this world. You may call me paranoid or cynical, but that is the way things have devolved. This is why I question you, Mr. Vastrix. I will only take your money if I defeat you. If not I am not worthy of a prize like this.”
She reaches out cautiously and puts her hands against the window to feel some of the power of the typhoon.
“I believe I still live for a reason. I will not pervert this reason by taking a handout from the likes of you. Who knows where this money came from? Your dubious company or some other nefarious scheme? I will only be able to cleanse this donation if it is won in battle. If I have offended you then try to make me pay for it in the ring. We will leave it up to fate who is in the right and wrong in this battle. We will let cruel mother nature decide who the strongest is!”
