*Death Trap is laboring, he hasn't been manhandled this bad in over a decade. Something isn't right. He has been the best wrestler in MCCW since the Gold Rush started. He is the world champ. What is happening. Why isn't anything working? DT moves in for a move but Jason Justice is faster, faster than usual ... no DT is just slower. Justice hoists DT up and "TO THE HEAD! HE SPIKED HIM ON HIS HEAD!" comes from Aleister Mayfield. DT blacks out temporarily. He awakes to the sound of the ref pounding the mat and instinctively kicks out after the first sound ... but it's already over. DT rolls to his knees and looks at Andrew Carnegie. He holds up 2 fingers with his right hand and holds the back of his head with his left. Carnegie shakes his head and hands the title to Justice. As Justice's music hits DT drops back into a sitting position with his right knee tucked to his chest and left leg bent but on the mat. He just stares down into the mat with his right arm on his knee and his left on his head. Justice celebrates around him as DT stares like a zombie into the mat. Mayfield makes an excuse about the EOD grind and being fatigued but DT is spaced out and not hearing it. As the music dies and Carnegie and Justice have retired to the back, DT stares off at the crowd as they file out of the Prudential arena. He sits there as the set is slowly disassembled around him. Finally the ring crew comes for the ring and DT rolls out of the ring to the floor. He slowly drags his feet to the back. As he passes gorilla position he looks over at Mayfield who shoots him a sorrowful glance but keeps working to close out the arena to move to the next show tomorrow for Voltage. DT looks down into his own hands as he stands there. He is shaken from his stupor by Mayfield handing him a ticket to London for End of Days. DT nods and shakes his hand thanking him and then immediately loses the smile and walks to the locker area holding his head.*
October 23, 2019 - 8PM - Newark, NJ
*DT is sat in the locker room. Nobody else is left in the arena. He is staring out into nowhere. As the janitorial staff enters the room DT takes the cue and stands up. He grabs his bag and closes his locker. He tosses the bag over his shoulder, over his DT Hoodie, over his Metallica shirt and jeans. He pulls on a beanie and rests his forehead on the locker door. He takes a deep breath and leans back ... and lets loose a scream of anger and anguish as he punches the locker denting it in severely. His breathing is now rapid and heavy and his eyes full of rage.*
: Couldn't even defend it once could ya old man? Surprised? Why? Isn't this the m.o.? How often have you won a title here in XHF just to either lose it right away or go down with an injury. Have you ever successfully held a title? Everyone talks about all those title wins ... they all forget how pathetic you were. COuldn't shake the status quo even now. ... Only one option left ...
*DT turns and books from the room nearly shoving the door from its hinges as he leaves the locker room. He heads downstairs and out the performer exit and walks to his waiting rental corvette. He tosses his now significantly lighter bag into the passenger seat and buckles in and peels out.*
October 24, 2019 - 7PM local - London, England, UK
*We catch up with DT coming out of a local pub and chip shop. He has clearly just had dinner and is now walking back to his hotel, hands in his hoodie pockets, hood up, trying to avoid being recognized. He marches with purpose down the street. He stops and looks up. He is bathed in the lights around the Emirates stadium where End of Days is due to be held in three days time. We see his nose curl and lips stiffen. He turns and books it up the street to a hotel. He enters the main lobby and steps over to one of the elevators. We catch up again as he leaves the elevator and heads to his room. He walks over to a desk and props up his phone to use as a camera.*
: Hope I'm bloody doing this right.
*Sure enough the screen shows him broadcasting live to the XHF network like one of the new crop of stars so love to do.*
: So ... not so fine after all am I? I'm not going to lie, I'm embarrassed. My exploits here at EOD had more eyes watching us than ever before. A Maverick match where he had to handle all the Big Koch could offer and Raiden Ishimori debuting ... most watched show of MCCW history barring maybe Master Clash and the headline show of the Mastery Tour? And I went down like a chump. I can't explain it. I don't know what happened. Justice and I have had two bangers of matches before. And somehow ... I had nothing in me yesterday. I can't remember the last time I felt that feeble and helpless. It is not a good feeling. On a show that saw Mav taking all the Koch, Raiden looking like a champ, a Bane knockoff wrecking house, and a librarian upset an XHF legend ... all people will remember is that limp noodle of a main event. And it's my fault. I failed MCCW, I failed my title, I failed my fans, and I failed myself.
*He breathes deep, fighting the emotion pent up within him*
: Aleister, bless him, tried to excuse that horrific showing as fatigue. Probably had to give a reason not to provide refunds. But I am not one to make excuses. And now my mission is at a stand still again. You see for all my bluster, and all my bravado, and all my achievements ... HOLDING the titles I win has ALWAYS been an issue for me. The one time I really held a title in XHF I got dogpiled on by 8 men. I'm sure Mongo was jizzing himself over that one. Maybe I never truly recovered from that shock. Not being good enough and being headhunted. Because I have always come up short ... not in a Maverick sense but in a unique more painful way. I actually reach the summit of my mountains ... and then I fall down hitting every boulder and branch on the way down the hill. I cannot let this keep happening. This was my chance to be better than old me, better than Eichi, better than anyone. I was going to dual wield a briefcase and a world title. And now all I've done is show Jeremiah exactly what I have left in the tank ... fumes.
*He sits on the bed*
: No this isn't how my story ends. I have a rare opportunity to immediately get back all that I lost. I can take this and use it. I have a chance this SUnday to turn it all around and leave it all in the ring one more time. I have a chance to win a briefcase for a guaranteed title shot. To forever be etched in history as a winner of this grueling tournament. Nobody can take that away from me. And that is where the next step for me lies.
*He looks to the camera with a drive and fire in his eyes*
: This is no longer a desire. This is not my big showcase to the world for MCCW. No this is personal now. This ... is a NEED. I no longer just WANT to win ... I can't afford not to. If I lose this now after all this work ... putting in all those all star matches, getting to the top here and in MCCW, just to fall twice in rapid succession ... who can I claim to be? Not the best, not the main attraction, not a main eventer, not even worthy of your TV time. No this has become a career defining moment for me. I have to come out bigger and better or I don't come out at all. I will hit my 40th birthday as the End of Days winner, or I will die in this ring trying. Cyborg opponent with laser vision or no ... this is MY tournament to lose. It has always been. It's shown me I still have a ton to give ... but I still have so much to improve. It's taken everything from me. And I will take everything back in response. I will take this win, I will take the briefcase, I will take the history and the adoration that accompanies it. I will rise back to the title picture using my grit, discipline, and determination, and I will use that briefcase ... to claim the ultimate prize. Either from Maverick ... or in January from whoever holds the X*Crown ... I will either take possession of the X*Crown from our representative or I will be the first to bring that title to MCCW. For so long AXW and AWF held claim on that title ... TGK got it for a brief moment ... and now it finally went out to another fed newer to the network. And just as it became the Destiny for Subject #42 ... I am just the Master ... to bring that home to our little class here.
*He stands up and gets close to the camera again*
: Vastrix ... hear my words. You can take me lightly at your own peril. You may be a literal machine of a man ... but I am something so much more. And losing my title has understandably made me bitter and driven. I will not be playing games with you. I will not be feeling you out. I am coming out of the chute guns blazing and I am claiming my rightful prize. At End of Days, as the title suggests ... your "luck" ... runs out. You have done very well to come this far as a visitor to our realm. But you will be returning empty handed with the loser's purse from this event. And you will succumb to my onslaught of offense. You will tap out. Because I ... NEED ... THIS. And I will not be denied again. My body will not give out again, I'll make sure of it. I hope you had fun broadcasting your heroics to the XHF Network ... because Sunday ... fun goes out the window. I ... WILL NOT ... BE DENIED!
*He tosses his phone onto the bed where the feed cuts out*
