I have with me, Audrey Alfaro, the current owner of Next Generation Wrestling. I really only have a few questions for the latest in a series of owners for the classic wrestling company that once remained in Mt Vernon until it's destruction, but they should promise to be enlightening at the very least.
1. You are the current owner of Next Generation Wrestling. You bought it from the Summeroffs at a bargain price after their financial issues caused the company to close. What kind of numbers are we talking about here?
I am not sure that matters. This company is priceless. You can't put a price on perfection.
2. Tell me about WCE. Why would the casual wrestling fan care about a former company that, if rumors are correct, you ran into the ground? Beyond the fact that you are in charge of yet another wrestling company with the ground looming fast with recent events around Rip Bash seeming to show.
This is a very loaded question. Wrestling Championship Entertainment was an incredible company but, I wish to move on from it. Things happen for a reason. They thrive and they fail. This happens to every company. I actually was asked to co-run WCE, not because I knew much about the sport but, because I was a good business woman when it came to my shoe line. I used to watch wrestling with my father as a child. But, I was never the biggest of fans. WCE, however, opened my eyes to all the possibilities that surrounded it. And in regards to Mr. Bash, are you implying that he alone makes nGw what is currently is?
3. How long have you been in the wrestling business?
About three, three in a half years.
4. This business has the habit of chewing people up and spitting them out with even owners not immune to this. Do you have a retirement plan for when you're done here?
Always have a backup plan to everything you do. From A to Z, I always have something in my noggin'. Only the foolish do not plan ahead.
5. What is your relationship status? Married? Children?
I am single. I am married to my job, nGw. A spouse and children are distractions from what make people great. The only people who remember how great parents are, are their own children.
6. So will you always remain on the sidelines or do you envision a day where you might step into the ring yourself? If do, what talents do you bring to the ring?
Going back to WCE, I have fought in matches myself. Stephanie McMahon, Ian Richter, my former business partner. I try not to make trouble in that aspect anymore. I leave it to the professionals.
7. Now that Rip Bash is out with injury, is this upcoming match that's for contendership going to be for the World championship instead? Or will the title be held in place until Bash gets back?
This will be answered at a later date.
8. Why do you depend on Marty Ginsberg so much when you know he's such an idiot? Maybe he could do your taxes only...
Like myself, Ginsberg is a dependable, incredible mind. However, he needs a bit more time out in this world. He became to used to all the bone headed thugs he had dealt with before this job.
9. There have been allegations that you have been keeping some of the talent in the company held down for not toeing the line with new policies that you have brought with you. Any response to this?
Well, tell me about these 'policies'? People can blame me for whatever they desire. Barely anyone likes their boss, right? I will say, I have noticed a decrease in people willing to push themselves since my take over. Maybe they just enjoyed the previous owner more. Or maybe, just maybe the old owner coddled them?
10. Speaking of policies. Let's speak on the policy where title matches, excepting being certain "forgettable" titles, only happen during supercards. This sounds like sapping the televised show to try to increase buy rates for the pay-per-view, but it really just saps the drive of the talent. Why bother during Revelations when their efforts won't amount to spit when the champion can save weaseling for the big show to keep the title and lose EVERY SINGLE MATCH between big shows?
The bigger, singles championships are only exchanged at pay-per-views for build up purposes. Tag Team Championships are defended at the 'Revelations' after the pay-per-view. This is done in hopes that people enjoy appetizers, as much as they enjoy the whole meal. If people grow tired of this or dislike it, I urge them to find a better company,to either watch at home or participate in. This is a free country. The way I do things, gives the titles credibility, not normalcy.
11. When even the people you counted as allies suddenly turn on you, who do you have left that you count as supporters? Is there anyone who does not count you as nGw's cancer and wish to tear you out before the whole dies?
You should never enter a business, of any sort, expecting everyone to love you or even like you. To do so is a fairy tale, a fallacy. And even outside of an industry. We have ourselves and only ourselves. Something I learned when I was about eighteen or nineteen... always expect the worst out of people, so if they do something nice, you are wonderfully surprised. But, if they live up to your expectations, then you're not let down. You simply move on. Anyone who believes I am a cancer, has no idea what they are talking about. If I were a cancer, this federation would have died months ago. Actions speak louder than words, my friend.
