I’m not sure how this guy ended up on my YouTube feed but he raises snakes in south Florida down around the Everglades. He has pythons and anacondas but he is also certified to handle live, venomous snakes as well. He has all sorts of vipers and one of them is a 5-6 foot long Mexican west coast rattler. Dude is huge! He even has a 12 or 14 foot monocle king cobra named Kevin. Needless to say he’s friends with other venomous snake handlers. One of his friends hatched a clutch of king cobras back in April and they caught two of them coming out of their shells on camera! These nope ropes are tiny but deadly! But they’re fucking cute as hell! Click the link below to see them hatch. Or, if you’re afraid of snakes, don’t click it. youtu.be/H5YB9L6U-OA

Ever since I found these snake guys on YouTube (or rather they found me) I’ve been watching a ton of their videos.
It’s gotten to the point where I actually want to get one. Not a cobra. Fuck that. Even with the venom glands removed they’re still incredibly dangerous! They can strike up to 1/3 of their length in a fraction of a second!
Instead of a python or a boa I’m looking into seeing if I can legally own a venomous snake in Missouri. I’m emailing a conservation agent to find out if that’s even possible. What I’d like to get is a false water cobra (colubridae), AKA the Brazilian smooth snake. It is not a cobra but has a hood like a cobra, is a rear fanged snake (they’re near the back of its jaw), and it’s venom is not known to be lethal. Although the bites are generally harmless to humans you don’t want this thing gnawing on you.
They get pretty damn big too. Females have been known to reach up to 8 feet in length and weigh 10 pounds or more whereas males often hit 7 feet and weigh about the same.
What about y’all? Any snake fans here?

I’m absolutely not into snakes, lol. But folks who love snakes never stop doing so, so they must be doing something right, lol
