The wind blows her black hair with purple streaks over her face as the moon forms a halo around her. Fukushima Zombie takes her hands away from the railing around the ledge and moves her hair behind her ear.
“There is one thing in common with Mike Lio and Ai Moe in our upcoming match. This is something that is most dangerous for a fighter to have. It can be the difference between a commanding performance and complete and utter failure. You may not know that you have this. It is one of those things that can hide out in the back of your mind until that crucial moment that it strikes. It is born from memory, experience, or just strikes you like a snake. It has a paralyzing effect. When it hits you pause for that fraction of a second that it takes to lose. Have you guessed what this is yet? I am talking about doubt.”
Fukushima steps under the railing to get on the ledge. The wind makes her dark dress billow in the wind. She holds on to the railing and leans out to look at the scenery below. She turns to face the camera while holding on to the rail.
“Doubt is the killer of confidence. The tricky part is that if you actively try to avoid it you can still get caught in its trap. The thought is always there until you get caught in it like quicksand. This turns anything you try into an ordeal. When I look at my opponents and hear their words I know that this match will be just that. I will make this an ordeal that they will remember. In the end, the hardship will serve to improve who they are as fighters and help them grow as people. Those are the positive effects of fear. You can either run away or you can head towards the danger knowing that you have it in you to overcome.”
She leans back and claps a few times but she catches the railing just before it is out of her reach and her knees buckle trying to get it. She does and stands back up again.
“I asked myself if I can do this. I asked if this was my time to advance all the way to the end. I know that it is. I have to adopt this attitude in order to achieve victory. I know there is a fine line between arrogance and confidence, and I know exactly how to cross over. This is just as dangerous but I also know that I am safe in coming out the other side victorious.”
Fukushima extends her arms over her head and leans back until she tips over the point of no return and falls off the ledge. Her body tumbles down until she suddenly stops and the ledge is at waist level. She laughs as the cameraman frantically rushes to the rail.
“Knowledge is key. Knowing yourself is just as important as knowing your opponents. I am not going to make believe that I have mastered myself. I am still young. I do know that in a match it is where I feel free to act out as much as I want to. The makeup reflects my inner beauty and attitude. Most people think it is grotesque and barbaric. I look like a monster, but I believe that it is beautiful. It is me at my most confident. So as I jump into the abyss soon and start on this journey, I assure you that I will get past this triple threat match. This is not a threat or a promise. It is a fact. So I can make this jump with no doubt.”
