The screen is black. Nothing. Nothing. Then all of a sudden...
Then the picture comes to view. It was a blink. There's a television with a skinny woman in a tight dress telling us that the weather is going to be in the high 50s with a chance of afternoon showers. The camera swaps to Michael Storm, sighing. He's been looking at the television, but not watching it. He's been hearing her words, but hasn't been listening. He's shaking his head as he knows what's going to happen.
Storm: That's what I hate about blinking. It happens nearly every god damn second. It happens to everyone, but they don't really notice it. But I do. How can I not? Every time I close my eyes, Seth is there. His memory remains, mocking me. Tormenting me. It's another scar on my body, but it finds a home among the other scars. I have plenty. I am a blemished monster, but I can see myself for who I really am. I am a cold, calculated monster that has seen and walked through the plains of hell. From this experience, I have looked to everyone else and realized that everyone else is as well. It's quite a paradox, really. Obviously I'm broken, but I'm together enough to realize that I'm broken. I can see the cracks outlined like I'm a porcelain vase. But you can look at everyone else - The Tom, Dick and Harrys of the world, the Brittany, Sally and Amandas of the world. The ones who you are together who don't realize that they're broken. No one in this world has a perfect. Not even the perfect Chris fucking Card - nice to see your return, by the way.
Michael Storm gives a respectful nod. At least, it appears to be respectful.
Storm: Bones can heal and memories can be repressed, but our souls? Our souls don't forget. It can't be healed. We wear our past and we react as such. That's why these pathetic idiots join Legion. They want to feel strong. They want control. Their lack of control scarred them. That's why I spent a lot of my past in search of financial success, because I was raised with absolutely nothing. And that's why Anthony Caffrey pledged to remain undefeated throughout 2020. It's because he saw himself last year and all his embarrassing losses, and he was sick of not matching the level that his own personal ego expected of himself. But regardless, we are all broken. The only big difference here is how much we realize and accept this.
Michael Storm grabs the remote and points it at the television - which at this point is showing the traffic of the main highways within the area. He turns it off.
Storm: In a way, I think that's why I've been drawn to the X*Crown Championship. It's not just one championship. The BDDWF Ultimate Title, The RWF World Heavyweight Championship, The XWA World Heavyweight Championship, The ZWEF H- You know, I could keep going on, but I'm sure you could just go the XHF Network website if you want to know them all. Regardless, the X*Crown Championship is comprised of twenty one different championships and it has a lineage of of its bloody past. Rather, it IS the lineage. It's nothing else. The X*Crown Championship is a reflection of the very nature of this business, and it's tailor made for who I am as the wrestler I am and the person I used to be.
Michael Storm turns away. He walks towards the kitchen and stops at the counter where there's a small picture of him. There, he's smiling with the XHF Hardcore Championship draped over his shoulder.
Storm: I'm not so sure I'm a person anymore, but I can tell you that I sympathize and even empathie with the X*Crown Championship. It's broken, just like me. But yet, it persists. It continues on and it refuses to falter. And just like the X*Crown Championship, I don't crumble when I face adversity. Instead, I grow. I multiply. I become larger than I was before. And that's just who I've always been. When I grew up, I was poor. Then I made myself rich. I started out in the XHF in 2005 and I was a nobody. Then I won the XHF Phoenix Championship and the XHF Hardcore Championship multiple times. Then I was essentially laid off from the XHF when it closed, and I focused myself on amassing a corporate empire for myself. After I came back, I've faced adversity from many strong opponents. From Jackson Steele to Rob Arnold, I've been in matches where I've given it my all and lost. But I didn't just stop when feeling blue. I just doubled mymself again. I ended up winning the X*Crown Championship, defeating Jack Diamond in his first defense. Of course, we all know that I died.
Michael Storm squeezes his hand into a fist before looking back at the camera. He grits his teeth.
Storm: I didn't even let DEATH stop me! And yes, I'm pissed off about losing to Seth. I took some time off so I can improve myself, so I can work out the thoughts that Seth have imbedded into my mind and now I'm here and I'm ready to bounce back from that. Because that's what I do. bounce back. I win, and even when I take life-threatening losses, I can pool in my resources and allocate them JUST where I need them to be so that I can succeed. And that's going to happen at the XHF Rumble. I'm going to win. I'm going to become one with the X*Crown because in all ways that really matter, I AM the X*Crown. I'm broken, but omnipresent. I'm not going anywhere and I'm not letting anyone stop me. I'm just another guy wearing my past and letting it lead me into the future.
Michael Storm reaches above him and grabs a protein shake mix. He takes all the other supplies he needs to put it together. He looks back toward the camera once more.
Storm: It's time to get this done.
That's when the scene fades to black.
Hawke: AND NOW HE’S LOOKING FOR THE EXCLAMATION POINT!
King: HERE IT COMES!
SETH JUMPS OFF THE TOP ROPE- ACID RAIN ONTO STORM, AND HE PRACTICALLY LAYS ON TOP OF HIM FOR THE COVER!
ONE!
TWO!
THREEEEEE!
AND SETH DILLINGER HAS DONE IT!
Hawke: THE PRESTIGE CHAMPION HAS RETAINED!
King: WHAT A MATCH!
Seth crawls slowly to the ropes to support himself as the Prestige Championship is handed back to its rightful owner. He holds the title and falls on his knees, staring at it as the crowd chants his name again and again. Storm sluggishly rolls out of the ring and falls onto the floor.
