Hey guys!
(Sorry DT, didn’t realize you were posting today)
For three years only the XHF Network Admins and a few members of a secret cabal (mostly former XHF admins) had access to the old Xtreme Hardcore Federation archives on the board. That was because they looked terrible and I wanted to hold off on releasing them until I could re-edit everything. However, that takes forever to do and between life and work and other stuff I’m not sure when it’ll get done.
So I’ve swallowed my pride and have decided to release the whole set in its rough form. Now you can see all of the XHF’s history; from the Original Seven Years, to the Beta Trial of the XHF Network, to the return year: XHF ’09.
As the title alludes, the archives are mostly complete. We’ve lost some shows largely because in 2005 the hosting company (ezBoard) got hacked. The XHF was actually lucky though, many feds were entirely gutted. We were able to keep going without missing a beat (though missing some shows for sure). Thankfully, between pure dumb luck and some diligent former admins we have almost every PPV- which is pretty darn cool if you think about it.
Also the rather rough appearance… So originally the XHF was on ezBoards and everything was ez and fine. Then they merged some of their properties and rebranded as Yuku and the format of stuff changed. A couple years ago, Yuku (with several other companies) sold out to Tapatalk- and all the formatting changed again. So everything is generally there (there’s a few times when code ate the text) but it doesn’t look real pretty, lol. But hey, we’re thankful we’re able to display the XHF’s massive history at all!
I wanna take this time to give a massive thank you to the people who made these shows possible: The admins, the writers, and the rpers. The XHF was a labor of love for all of them and they did an amazing job even while I was mentally checked out for large swaths of time. This is a testament to their great passion.
I also wanna thank Pat/Rage for moving over nearly every weekly show from the old boards. This was not an easy process and you can do the math on how many shows that was (probably around 600) and he did it over the course of just a few days. Baller bro, baller. Also big ups to some of the guys who dug up their old personal archives and found some missing shows. Usually you’ll see them getting the post credit for those ones.
The graphics on the shows right now are mostly original to the XHF Era as well (though not from the exact times). Just like currently, we changed the layout monthly so there’s a fair few graphics laying around still. There’s more in the secret archives that I hope to add to the shows in the future (but yeah, no real timeline on that)
So yeah, all you guys who wanna not feel dumb when Kuroi is in “XHF History” mode, time to BONE UP on about 8 years of history. BONE UP HARD. Teehee.
Now then, THE XHF ARCHIVES NEED YOU!
As noted above, most of the shows look…..rough. The problem is that for one person to do everything the task is pretty Sisyphean. So I’m asking for help in cleaning up/editing shows. Basically, if you wanna practice show editing, or show off your style for people unfamiliar with your fed, or just get some big props from me let me know and I’ll give you a copy of the show you wanna do as-is and you can edit it how you like (but it needs to look good and there can’t be content loss). After that I’ll copy your version and replace the current version with your edit and give you credit for it at the bottom of the show.
If you’d like to add graphics to a show your editing go right ahead! Just ask me if you need pic bases or anything. The goal of letting people edit the shows is to let them display their style.
“But wait, aren’t you just trying to get me to do work?”
Yes. But a man can dream. Besides, some people like show formatting and it’s a good hobby for somebody wanting to read the old shows as it helps them to actively engage the show at the same time!
So yeah, enjoy the archives guys and if you wanna help clean them up let me know!
