OCTOBER 9, 2019 5:30PM - CANTON, OH
*The cameras zoom all around the arena in Canton, OH. The XHF Network proudly broadcasts the live show of MCCW Wednesday Night Voltage from this arena in just thirty minutes. We get a good view of the arena with the thousands of fans inside as a couple hundred all file in from outside. We see the tour bus the talent ride in (hey it's still a small promotion yo) and see a man in the luggage hold getting his bags out of the hold. He pops out and puts on a bowler hat and walks into the talent entrance. We cut to a camera just inside that entrance as Death Trap makes his way into the arena. As he enters we see Nelly Angel hanging out and stretching in the back area. While DT will be flying out to Ireland tonight for End of Days 3, Nelly will be out to Las Vegas with the rest of the MCCW touring crew.*
: Hey Nelly, how's it hanging?
: Still working on that singles losing streak. But hey I have a tag title shot ready for whenever Randy and I can get ourselves up to challenge. Those Cure guys are nasty pieces of work.
: Yes they are, talented as fuck though man. Reminds me a little of back in the day, promos like a Reeshi or an Apollyon but in ring talent like an Ishnari or Gravedigger. The future is bright for XHF Network. But then ... the past seems to keep holding its luster as well these days. Wink wink nudge nudge.
: Yes you are a world champion again. Thanks for reminding me how I beat you twice then you still stepped over me to get TWO title shots.
: Glad to help!
: Ya know sometimes that arrogance really dims the light around you DT.
: It's who I am, I ain't about to change because I'm older and wiser. We all know I thrive on the fame, the bright lights, the cheers from an adoring crowd. And we all know I have an ego the size of ol' Koch.
: Speaking of, you should be getting ready for him.
: Oh I am prepared. The guy may be big and strong but he can still be broken. A fitting warm up for the next EOD as well. Duke may not be a fat fuck but he is a big dude who uses pure power to try and overwhelm people same as ol Knocker here. At least Big Koch keeps his sense of humor and rolls with the shit ... no pun intended. Duke doesn't have a funny bone in his body. Dude is really a big downer.
: Look Koch is tough and you shouldn't look past him but there's no stakes for this match. How are you going to beat Duke? Dude is a monster. He's beaten some big names including one of those Arbiter/Nihilist guys.
: Nelly. How do I always do these things? I go out to the ring, I rain down the strikes and martial arts finesse and then I make people tap out. But I think as champ I owe a little more to this crowd here tonight. My match isn't a title defense so maybe I will give them a little more of what they paid to see.
*DT walks away and heads to a locker room. He tosses his bag down and changes into his ring gear quickly (behind a screen you perverts). He grabs the title from his bag and puts it on his waist and begins a march to the gorilla position.*
: Hey Ronnie ... can you cue up my entrance music and lights? Let's get the people who got here early a real show. I'm sure Aleister will be fine with me treating his crowd while helping further MCCW in the EOD tourney.
*Ronnie shrugs and looks at the controls. After a minute of confusion he finally sees a button he has labeled "Champeen". DT shakes his head and puts his hoodie up over his head. He steps to the ramp entrance and waits.
The haunting vocal intro for "The Hard Sell" by Coheed and Cambria hits the speakers and the lights dim and blue and gold spotlights strobe around the arena. The MasterTron lights up with a familiar theme as it reads, "Main Attraction ... Showing Once Again" A foot shatters the screen and we cut to images from DT's matches in MCCW against the likes of Nelly Angel, Weaselpop, and Eichi Yamaguchi. The first verse sets in as the screen shows DT landing on the floor of the arena and being handed the MCCW World title.
"I'm paranoid, and sick of this world's misconception of things I did. My language poured across this wrist in a metaphoric disaster."
DT slowly walks into a red spotlight on the stage with his head down hidden under a hoodie. It's black and has his custom interlocking DT logo with an italian flag and mariners compass on it on the back. He stands in the spotlight and slowly looks up showing off his signature bowler hat and sunglasses under the hood.
"My guess, I'm missing out the punchline, unless this hanging noose is fitted to be all mine. I stood by everything I loved, while you never understood me much..."
He flips the hood back and throws his hands up into a cross over his head before slowly dropping them into his signature pose (the orton one, you know it). The strobe blue and gold spotlights move faster around the arena as he soaks in the adoration of fans who were just now getting to their seats with beer, nachos, and merch.
"Cuz there's only one ... of me. And too many of you, fighting over nothing. There's never enough cool for everyone and before you know it you're selling out to be in."
He unzips the hoodie opens it up and starts marching to the ring pointing to the MCCW World Heavyweight title around his waist and high fiving fans. He rolls into the ring and climbs the far corner and poses. He leaps down and calls for a microphone which is handed to him by the timekeeper.*
: I know I know, not standard procedure but we have a big global tournament happening and that calls for a little more bravado and showmanship don't you all think? And besides its free extra entertainment for you early birds.
*Cheers from the crowd*
: Ladies and gentlemen, your MCCW World Heavyweight Champion is here. Hey you, XHF cameraguy. Turn your camera on and broadcast this to the network promo board. One Duke Kosloff needs to be able to see this and weep. *he gets right up to the ropes and leans over so he is close to the camera.* Duke! Dukey boy. Are you paying attention? Good good. Hate to think you were ignoring me. Letting a little first round win go to your head. See while you are sitting there waiting, I'm here in Canton ready for my second match this week. ANd I feel fresh as a daisy man. Look your ex-wife can bring it but let's face it, this was all a foregone conclusion. There was no way the World Champ was puttering off in the first round. Especially when that world champ is the XHF Legend known world wide as Death Trap. Not quite sure how your wife thought we were on a first name basis though. Bad form really. How she got MCCW's official records is beyond me but it's bad form to go calling someone by a name they don't use. See when I'm in this ring I am Death Trap. And nobody but my closest friends gets the privilege of calling me by the name my family does. But hey I'm a magnanimous man, and I let that one slide. Because what mattered was getting back onto that global stage and showing everyone why Death Trap is still the main attraction. At home, in the ring, on the road, MCCW, XHF, GUNS, it doesn't matter ... the show is mine to hold and mold. These people pay to see me. They don't pay to see Eichi and his five minute punch fests. They don't pay to see Shane Thompson get his ass kicked until he has to defend his title then suddenly hulk up. They don't pay to see Maver .... ok there's probably a few that pay to see Maverick ... but the point is ... these people aren't coming to the show in Ireland to see Ai Moe or Lynn Brewster. They aren't coming to see Duke Kosloff. They are coming out to see the one man show, the walking, talking five star match that is Death Trap.
*DT chants start up*
: When all is said and done there will be a few hundred fans who leave after seeing Bobby Barratt, a few hundred more after Maverick ... and the rest will all be there to see the submission master, the living legend, the main ... attraction. They are all coming to see how many times I can bend you before you break ... and they all break. But hey let's not let you get off thinking I am some one trick pony. I have been honing my craft for seventeen years on this circuit and I have learned a lot. A man can't truly call himself the best if he can't adapt. I may not be able to fly like I did in ECF but I have become a smarter fighter. I have become a better strategist. See I zero in on exactly what it is I need to do to get in that head of yours and make you make mistakes. And you only get one or two of those before your neck is in my grasp and you are wheezing out a cry for your babushka!
*The crowd gets ever louder and are clearly starting to get a bit rowdy as they get this extra show before the show.*
: I am well seasoned at taking down big monsters. I beat Eichi here. I think you'll find names like Reeshi to be more of a monster than you could ever hope to be. I've outwrestled guys like Chris Kanyon and JL. I've outbrawled guys like Reeshi and Destruction. I've outclassed guys like Kuroi and Apollyon. And tonight you'll watch me take the biggest guy on this roster and wrap him up like a pretzel. Rest assured you can take tonight as an example when I squeeze the shit out of Big Koch and make him cry for his mommy. You see it's been the story my entire career Duke. Everyone is either bigger, or stronger, or faster, or more devious than me. And I always find ways to win. Because that's what I do. I win. I overcome odds, I break barriers, I shatter expectations. You all assumed I was some old man looking for one last taste of glory. You all thought I didn't have what it took. But the fans believed. They watched me shake the rust off with Nelly and then come out in force and take the Gold Rush by storm. You all cried fluke when I beat Nelly to get the match with Eichi. The guys in the back all thought I was a dying ember casting off the last of the warming glow when it all crashed down in one unexpected German Suplex. But I vowed to get back to the top and I beat guys like Jason Justice and Weaselpop to earn my way right back to where I belong. When everyone thought even then it was a flash in the pan because I didn't REALLY want to do this anymore, I couldn't do this anymore I showed up and dominated Eichi and showed him mercy by leaving the cage and leaving him some dignity.
*Crowd boos at his mention*
: Hey I said I was magnanimous, gotta let the true flashes in the pan have their moments too after all. The point is, I have been the constant underdog ... from being that small guy in ECF who just wouldn't stay down to saving the whole fed from the invasion. From being an ECF nobody in XHF to single handedly dismantling Mongo Corp and then toppling Reeshi to become champ. From being that old senile kook in the gym with Venom to showcasing my talents last year at EOD 4. From being the guy who couldn't handle Nelly Angel ... to holding this.
*He unhooks the title and holds it skyward.*
: Everyone ... always ... looks past me ... and everyone always ... ends up tapping out. Duke you have been here basically since this whole Network concept came about. You have seen a lot in the many feds you've worked for. You have even held two world titles from dead or dying feds. You have size, you have talent, you have ferocity, and you have sheer strength and determination. But endurance, technical prowess, and persistence are what I have always represented. And you cannot outlast me. You cannot outwrestle me, you cannot outsmart me. You just don't have it in your arsenal to do so. I may never overpower you but there is more to striking than strength. Ask Hyperion when he underestimated that power ranger fella. You've proven you can overpower a high flyer with some submission skills, you've shown you can handle the mob in AIW and you can handle match power with a force like the demon Dreadvan. But I am a different monster altogether my good sir. Have you been watching this great show we have here at MCCW?
*"M-C-C-Dub! M-C-C-Dub!" the fans go crazy. Aleister must be loving this extra attention being put on his show*
: If you had, you'd know that I am no nightmare, I am a living master. Got me in a bind? I can reverse like no other, dropping you into kneebars and arm bars and the like. These hands can still work magic in the grapple. My suplex game is still on point. Get too close and I can drop you with the cutter or shining wizard. Get me angry and I'll spike you on your head. Play too cautious and these magic feet will make quick work of you with my karate kicks, my muay thai knee strikes, or my fancy footwork. The point I'm trying to drive home Duke is I am not just a submission master, I am a RING master. I control every aspect of this ring. I am a savvy veteran who knows what moves to employ for maximum effect based on what you do and where I am. You cannot beat me just by coming out slugging. Many have tried. Koch will try it tonight. Eichi tried it in that cage.
*He begins to pace the ring as if talking to the crowd itself*
: Put simply Duke, when it comes to me? You don't have to fall to lose. I can break you on your feet. I can break you on your knees. I can break you anywhere I see fit. I am not ready to relinquish this global spotlight sir. I am not ready to bow out. I want... no I NEED to show everyone in XHF Network that this legend is still writing his legacy. And when they speak my name it will be in awe at what I can do with a monster of a man like Duke Kosloff. When people talk about my legacy they will lead with what I do here and now. The final run. The man who defied time and came out on top. I came to MCCW because they offered me an opportunity, a chance to do what I do best without having to brutalize my body with house shows over and over. And I have rewarded them with the kind of drawing power you would expect from a future hall of famer. I have brought out all the old fans to mingle with the new ones and to talk together about what I am doing now and how it compares to what I've done before. Make no mistake, I am not resting on my laurels. I worked my ass off to get cleared to return and now it all culminates in another run at the XHF. Back on the global stage ready to renew my reign as one of the top names on the lips of everyone in the wrestling industry. And now that path has me fighting your wife, Big Koch, and you in a one week span. And if that doesn't prove the range of my ability I don't know what will Duke. I assure you I am no trick, I am no dream, I am no nightmare, I am the flesh and blood MCCW World Champion and I intend to put you back into the hole you dug yourself out of on those Asylum Islands. At EOD3 ... I will make you tap out. I will introduce you to a world of hurt you can only dream of. I will be the figure haunting your future nightmares. Forget Hyperion, forget Dreadvan, forget your brother, forget everything you thought you knew about this ring.
*He looks out at the crowd and smirks as he climbs the ropes one last time.*
: Duke ... all you need to know ... is that this is no living nightmare ... you can't wake up from this. You can't escape ... after all ... you are simply walking into your own ........... *he pauses and lets the crowd pop* ... well you know the rest.
*He drops the mic and begins jabbering with the fans and showing off his title as "The Hard Sell" hits and DT entertains the crowd as the ring technicians get everything ready for the opening of Voltage*
