"Unconventional Training"
- 5:32 PM (Eastern Time) on September the 21st -
- A small apartment in inner Boston -
(One might think that the homecoming of Arik Kaige was one filled with friends and family welcoming Arik home from his long sabbatical. It seems like a logical place to start for a homecoming, but this is not conventional. And the reasoning is about to unfold.)
[The scene opens in a modest apartment living room overlooking the energetic city of Boston. However the room has a haze to it, perhaps due to the lack of attention, or perhaps due to another matter entirely. An exhausted Arik Kaige enters the barren room not wearing a shirt but wearing black track pants. He's holding a somewhat sloppily rolled cigar that has a distinct aroma to it. As Arik centers himself in the room, he takes another drag from the cigar. He then begins stretching out his legs.]
"To practice under even the strangest circumstances is to work until failure. Anyone can practice with perfect mind and body, but to fight at half or a quarter of your normal strength yet still overwhelm the opponent?"
Punch, cut the air, damn it, faster...
"...That's what strength is. To take into account that you may not be at your peak, yet still taking the journey to reach a new peak... that's the power of the mind at work..."
One more rip...... Alright, back to work. AGAIN! Cut the air! DUCK! SWEEP! Not good enough.
"I don't know any of the opposition here, the name Brad Kane doesn't really mean all that much to me in terms of recognition, and while I feel like that is insulting, I feel like this Brad character would understand that I've never kept my fingers on the pulse of the wrestling world in terms of names."
Visions getting blurry, I can feel it now, now's the time, don't get sluggish. EVADE! SPIN KICK! DISCUS ELBOW! DAMN IT! Fast, but not fast enough, the work needs to pick up.
"I heard somebody mention he was a former World Champion, that means that this is going to be extremely difficult... but I feel like management wouldn't put me in a contest of this nature unless they felt like it would at least be a battle fought on even ground... Or maybe they would.
Once more... Yes. Now wind palm, right elbow, twist into the left... better, but this is a time to keep going... constant movement, flow like water, strike like rock, leave no room for error.
"I've always been a warrior no matter the circumstances, so it looks I will just have to come in here and leave it all on the table for Brad Kane, and then world collide, and all we can do is put our respective maximum efforts to the test, and the stronger will be rewarded, and the weaker will just have to train more, that's all there is to it."
Continue the flow, rip it again... my eyes are beginning to dry out, this is what I'm looking for. Throw the knee! No, more snap! Throw it again! Better, front kick! Twist into the elbow!
"I have to lay down the perfect amount of work, because this is my first chance on the main stage and I cannot and I will not leave the building with anything less then a victory, it is the way I have to go if I want to climb the ladder... There must be time to build up..."
They want to see what a real warrior is, they want to see a heart on fire, this is what they get. PUNCH! AGAIN! FLURRY! EVADE! KEEP AS THE WATERFALL WOULD! Unwavering in its pattern, swallowing all there is, I'LL SHOW THE WORLD!
"I'll show the world..."
BACKFIST! MULE KICK! WIND PALMS! I'LL SHOW THE WORLD WHAT A TRUE...!
"...I'll show the world what a true trump card is..."
[And he finishes his strike combo with a final kneeling upward palm strike, he then exists his fighting pose and throws the strange smelling cigar into the ashtray next to his couch. Arik sits down on the couch, his body somewhat winded, his mind strong albeit altered and his eyes look pained and red...]
"Brad Kane... I hope you've prepared for me... because I certainly have prepared for you... and I will be sure to bring everything I have... and I expect the same courtesy... And soon I can unveil my true trump card... soon I will let the world watch my heart catch fire in the throes of combat... I can barely contain myself, it's almost here. I can't wait."
[Arik Kaige stands up and walks away, towards the bathroom. The door shuts and the shower begins to run... as the scene draws to a close.]
