*The Following was recorded immediately following the events of 6/25*
[The doors to the press room open and in walks one of the final 3 Competitors in the Battle Royal, Lee Stevens. Coming directly from the ring, Lee had a towel around his neck and was handed a bottle of water. He takes a sip and then pours some of the bottle over his head and shaking it off. He takes a seat, as the reporters clamor for questions. Stevens acknowledges one.]
Reporter: Lee, heck of a performance tonight. You came up short here, but made it to the final three with Zeze Taborda and the man who would go on to inevitably win the battle royal, industry veteran Henri Bryndisarson. Your thoughts on the battle royal and your performance tonight....
Stevens: Yeah, it was a hell of a fight tonight. No excuses here, I fought my heart out. And coming here I knew that I would be at a disadvantage. Going from a high profile place known all over the world in EWS, to going back to my roots, and working the Canadian indie scene. I went from knowing everyone and being able to study countless hours of tape, knowing every single move and working on every imaginable counter possible... to having limited knowledge, limited tapes to watch, and having to solely trust in my skill and ability. And I'll tell you it was an adjustment, but it was exhilarating. And I mentioned before, I came here, I'm touring the Canadian Indies to once again claim that mantra of BEST in the WORLD. And to do that, I gotta climb hills and mountains like this.
[The reporters all begin to shout at once and Stevens points to another.]
Reporter: Thoughts on your specific opponents? Henri Bryndisarson and Zeze Taborda in the final three?
Stevens: While I hadn't had the pleasure of locking up with Henri Bryndisarson.. did I say that right?...Bryn-dis-arson.... fuck that's complicated. Anyways, I was very aware of this man's past in the industry. We have traveled in different circles and never crossed paths, but he was one of the few in this match that I knew of and had plenty of video to study. I'd like to think he recognized the same in me and that's why we squared up in this match immediately and throughout. He's strong as an OX, no doubt. And he's a wily, crafty veteran as it seemed like every time I turned my back, that dude tried to toss me. And eventually he did. Back turned, focused on ZeZe top, he tossed us both... as he should. Veteran move. I took my eye off the ball and he capitalized. I look very forward to squaring up with Henri in the future.
[Stevens smirks and scratches his chin, snickering like he's remembering something funny.]
Stevens: As for Zeze, my god that was funny. The dude legit narrates as he lays down a beating. "Now you wish that you hadn't crossed the mighty ZEZE TABORDA!!!" Haha. I kept getting thrown off my game cause the dude was cracking me up. I thought it was a shtick at first, like a rib maybe, but this is just who this dude is. Taborda looked good in this match too. Apparently the final four of us were all new comers to Northern Pro, and I like to think this new influx of Talent is gonna put eyes on the product and butts in the seats... whenever it's safe to do so. As for Taborda, we had a chance to make a tiny bit of magic in this match...
Stevens: Bahahaha! For real? Oh that's funny. Listen, I cannot wait to wrestle this dude one on one. Arnie! if you're listening, I need a solid. I know you are about to release the card for July 10th, and Ima need you to put me and Taborda in a one on one. This guys shtick is too good. I have to work with him.
[The reporters shout again, knowing that they usually get about three questions with the former World Champ. Stevens points to a female reporter.]
Reporter: What's next for Lee Stevens?
Stevens: Like me or hate me, you're gonna see lots of me. I am working on deals to make my way around this beautiful country of ours. Despite the media coverage of this "falling out" with FWA, all I can say is don't believe the hype. I have worked out a deal and I'm getting the match I want. I have also worked out other deals, and you will be seeing me around... just don't want to spoil that fun just yet. Alright... thanks everybody.
[Despite the reporters still asking questions, he gives them a wave as he collects his things and leaves the media room, as the Reporters reset for the next post match interview.]
