The scene opens up in a garage of sorts. There is a black Ford Mustang 65 in the middle of it and Lynx standing near the car. He looks at the piece of art, slowly caressing it over and over again. After some instants he stops, looking at the camera, takes a deep breath and starts speaking in a calm tone.
“We are made of bones and water, if it wasn’t for the dreams, we bear in us, we would be not much more worth than toilette paper.
Been busy the last couple of days, been fine tuning this piece of art. Getting it ready for the trip ahead. You see, I have a dream that I have been wanting to realize since I was a whippersnapper. I want to take a trip through the vast and deserted highways of the USA. Feel the wind and drive against it, without any speed limits. I want to look around and see nothing more than the desert engulfing everything. I want to embrace the loneliness for a good while and treasure that feeling of freedom it brings with it.
That’s a dream I’ve treasured, since my early years. I am a step closer to realizing it for good.
Dreams. We all got them.
Lynx dreams of being free from obligations. Able to drive into nothingness.
Gordon Carlson dreams about being recognized, as the great wrestler that he is, all over the world.
Solomon Graham…
Well, I am sure that Solomon Graham has his own dreams he wants to achieve. One of them is, probably, being able to hold the North American Cruiserweight Championship in his hands and stand tall, above the competition, in this tournament of sorts that the NPW is holding. The problem is that there is one obstacle in his way.
A battle forged athlete. Second to none when it comes to skills in the High Flying Puroresu style. The young, swift and strong Lynx. Yes, Solomon, I stand in your way and I do not intend to let you pass through so easily. If you want to be the NPW Cruiserweight Champion, you need to defeat me, first.
And that, friend, will not be an easy task to achieve.
I know that you are no easy opponent. Decorated athlete, to boot. Got your accolades and achievements in the wrestling world. While me, Lynx, I am in the beginnings of my wrestling career. Got a single belt to show. Although that very belt is an accolade, I cherish like it would be the greatest of treasures. It is the MJPW Junior heavyweight championship belt.
It is an accolade I hold dear in my heart, for MJPW was a place I called home. It was a place with greatly skilled fighters and a federation that inspired quite some other federations that were built after MJPW closed its doors.
I know, you will say that you do not care, for what is gone is gone and can not be saved, and you would be right in saying that. Yet, what is gone can sometimes forge the future in front of us. On my way through federations, I always looked to find something that resembled MJPW at least a bit. I was about to give up hope, when Gus Arnold made that call. He explained the NPW idea to me and I was convinced, almost immediately.
I am still a fresh face in the NPW, yet I must say that, until now, I like what I see and I can say that this place has all the potential in the world, to become a great place and a place I can undoubtedly call home. And since this can be an important place for me, I will do anything in my might to be a major player in the company. It all starts now, in this number one contender match for the NPW Cruiserweight Championship. It all starts with this match against you, Solomon Graham. I know it will not be an easy task, be it for me or for you. We are both skilled fighters and I am sure that you will give it all, so that you can be the victor, but I won’t stand there doing nothing either. I will make sure to be a great challenge for you and I will give it all I got, so that I can emerge as the victor in this match.
Dreams, we all got them.
And without them, life would be full of emptiness.
To be able to follow your dreams and achieve them. That is what makes a hero out of a normal human being. I am here to achieve my goals and my dreams, so that when I grow old and grumpy, I can look back and have no regrets about my life.
And you, Solomon?
Do you have the power to follow your dreams?
To follow them and laugh in the face of any adversity?
Well, we shall see about it. Our match, our fight, it will be a testing ground for you and me.
And only one can emerge victorious…”
