HISTORY
Sydney Maxwell Irvine was born in Apter, Tennessee, on July 21st, 1992. As he was growing up, Sydney and his older brother, Colt, would watch the WWX each and every week, and they both developed a passion for the sport of wrestling as a result. The brothers joined the Apter High School wrestling team, and both were predicted to be state champions in their respective weight classes. However, during the offseason before Sydney's junior year, right as he and Colt were about to be named co-captain of the team, a nasty accident occurred during a mock wrestling match between the brothers on their backyard trampoline. Colt, ever the jokester, grabbed Sydney's head and went for a DDT, but the mesh trampoline could not take the pressure of both men landing in the same spot and ripped, sending Sydney careening into a metal bar underneath, substantially injuring him while somehow leaving Colt without a scratch. As a result, Sydney missed the wrestling season and had to watch as his brother won his second individual state wrestling championship.
Jealous of Colt's success and apparent lack of care for his brother's health, Sydney hopped on a Greyhound bus and left town for the bright lights of Los Angeles, California. Without a penny to his name or anyone to connect with, he worked at a decrepit gym to both hone his skills and save up enough for bonafide wrestling school, which he soon began attending. After a few short stints in some small Los Angeles-based federations, Syndicate received a "prove-it" contract offer from the World Wrestling eXistence in 2013, which he gladly accepted.
After defeating the legendary Tommy Lipton in his first match in the company, Sydney (now going by the name of Syndicate) spent the first year of his WWX career working in the midcard. After finally reaching the top of the card by being part of the main event of Hall of Pain, the WWX's premier pay-per-view event, in 2014, Syndicate soon emerged as a viable contender for the WWX World Championship, which he won for the first time in August 2015. From there, the Los Angeles Outlaw spent the next three years as one of the WWX's biggest stars, winning a total of 8 World titles and defeating nearly every superstar and legend thrown his way, most notably Tommy Lipton, one of the company's all-time greats who had taken issue with Syndicate's cocky attitude and confident behavior. Their bitter rivalry has persisted throughout Syndicate's entire WWX career, from his debut match to today.
When the WWX closed in 2018, Syndicate was the then-final WWX World Champion. For the two years that followed, he began working at a sports agency, married his then-girlfriend, Sophie, and settled down in Los Angeles. To him, his wrestling career was over, and he was satisfied with what he had accomplished - after all, he WAS the final champion of the World Wrestling eXistence. However, this period of peace came to a grinding halt in the summer of 2020, when his mortal enemy, Tommy Lipton, asked him to come out of retirement for a revival of the WWX, one that would begin with him facing off against Lipton for the championship. Syndicate hesitantly accepted this challenge, and in a grueling two-out-of-three falls match (one that took place on a bonafide pirate ship, no less), the Los Angeles Outlaw saw himself lose the title that he had so greatly cherished.
This loss drove Syndicate to the brink of insanity; he could no longer imagine the WWX World title not being firmly within his grasp, and he could not stand to see his most heated rival, Tommy Lipton, being the one to hold it instead. After a few weeks of soul-searching and isolation, Syndicate transformed himself from the Los Angeles Outlaw into the Wrestling God. He saw himself not only as the best professional wrestler on earth, but an immortal being that has been tasked with saving all of humanity from the dark influence that is Lucifer himself, Tommy Lipton. In the ensuing months, Syndicate ran roughshod over the WWX in what he called his holy Mission to "save" the federation from certain ruin at the hands of Lipton, and even though resistance came at him from all sides - including from his own brother Colt, when the two spoke for the first time in twelve years - Sydney Irvine remained dedicated towards bringing the WWX to Valhalla. However, his plans were dashed as he was defeated by his enemy at Hall of Pain, thereby failing to recapture the World Heavyweight title.
Following the loss, Syndicate's mind was broken beyond repair. He had believed he was the "hero" of the story, bringing the WWX to eternal glory, but in reality, he was never accepted by his peers in the first place. Even as his wife, Sophie Irvine, has adopted the similarly-crazed persona of "The Oracle" in order to appease her husband, with the eventual goal of restoring his original persona and reuniting with the man she married, Syndicate has vowed to burn down the WWX by all means necessary. To him, the company is beyond saving. It must be destroyed and rebuilt...with the Wrestling God standing atop the rubble with the World Heavyweight Championship placed over his shoulder.
His wife could not save him. His brother could not save him. The agony of defeat could not push him off course. And now, Syndicate, a man that has been disrespected and underestimated throughout his entire life, is out for revenge. The world of professional wrestling does not deserve happiness. It does not deserve peace. It deserves pain and domination, both of which shall be provided by the holy hands of the Wrestling God himself. Praise be.
