HISTORY
Zachary Jordan Swann (Known by his two ring names, Zakk Swann and SWANN) is a Canadian-born Japanese professional wrestler, best known for his time in NEW, EWF and FWA. He is currently signed to J-ROK, where he is in a Tag Team with his brother, Lucas. Zachary was born in Scarborough hospital on October 30th, 1991, and raised in Brampton, Ontario. Soon after him, came his younger brother, Lucas (Known to fans as Lucas Swann and previously before then, Zakk Sawyer). The two grew up watching wrestling and it was the very thing they bonded over. As they grew older, Zach became a tape trader, becoming obsessed with Japanese and European wrestling. He would often watch with his brother, and it was yet another thing that they bonded over. This led to him and his brother starting a Backyard wrestling federation with his friends, Eddie Williams (Known to fans as Eddie Evans) and Cliff Maxwell.
They did it well into their late teens, where their good friend, Solomon Graham, advised them that going pro would be a better idea as it was clear to him that they had a passion for wrestling. He even offered to get them training for free. Eddie and Chris agreed right away, but Zach would only do it on one condition: That once Lucas was of age, he would be trained, too. Sol agreed and thus, all four of them began training. After one long, gruelling year of training, Zach, Eddie, Cliff and Sol all began to compete on the Independent circuit. While their formative years didn’t see them much success, they soon came to be rather successful and critically acclaimed on their local circuit, which caused them to branch out, all on different paths.
After a few years of wrestling, Cliff received an inheritance and took that inheritance with him to Orlando, Florida, where he currently lives to this day. Eddie branched out and competed all across Canada for the rest of his career, even signing with CHAMP Wrestling (No, not Champoon Wrasslin’, but CHAMP Wrestling, the EWS Affiliate) before they soon after shut down again. Sol wrestled primarily in Ontario and Quebec, but would take occasional bookings in the Northeast of the United States, South Carolina (where he has since become a Minor Celebrity for his charity work) and Puerto Rico, where he made even more friends (and A LOT of enemies). Zach, however, travelled to Japan. He’d wanted to wrestle there since first breaking into the business and now, he’d finally gotten his chance. He’d taken a lot of inspiration from the tapes he’d seen as a young teenager and when he finally got to have his first match in Japan against Kojima Yoshimoru (Better known now by his ringname Dragon Kojima)… he lost. He lost in front of an entire sporting arena full of people. That didn’t stop him, however, and he soon moved to Japan to pursue a long standing career.
During his early Japanese wrestling years, Zach was not a very successful guy. He would often lose and when he did win, it was by the skin of his teeth and often not a clean win. This caused the fans to turn on him, which only served to disappoint him. He really wanted the approval of the fans, but his dirty wins caused him to lose their favour. Eventually, after a few weeks of earning wins that weren’t clean or honourable, he took a chair to his opponents back, getting himself disqualified, and then beating down on the poor guy. He stated that all he wanted to do was please the fans, entertain them... but they rejected him and as such, they unleashed a Demon. The motherfuckin’ Demon Of The East!! He renamed himself SWANN and fully cemented his heel turn. From there, he only moved upwards in the Japanese wrestling scene, winning championships and even forming his own stable in the Bone Gang. A group which consisted of SHW Wrestlers Andrew Cross and the Stryker Brothers, and Jared Storm, a man who’s now retired. Eventually, he and the Bone Gang left Japan, taking a contract with an American federation.
In late 2018, Zach and the Bone Gang signed with Brett Hartley and the Eastern Wrestling Federation, needing to be rebranded. He changed SWANN’s ring name back to Zakk Swann and renamed the stable “The Banditos”. He figured that “The new, hot indie rock album is “Trench” by twenty one pilots, so why don’t we make that your new stable name and dress you up in black and yellow?! It’ll be AWESOME, pal!!”. Needless to say… they were hesitant. However, Zach really wanted the money, as did his stablemates and as such, they agreed. Zach was slated to face Aiden Reynolds for the EWF United States championship and The Banditos were slated to become the top stable in EWF, however, a dispute over their contracts and the merger of EWF and IBW, led to them abandoning ship, never to set foot on EWF soil again. A few months later, once they’d gone around the American scene a little bit more, they signed with Kaiden Cole and New Era Wrestling, where they would see most of their success. Zakk nearly won the NEW World championship, which to this day, he blames on the bias of the locker room leaders, whom Kaiden confided in to help him make the decision. However, just a few months after it opened, NEW shut down, thanks to drama between Kaiden and the owner of Ice Coalition Wrestling, Brad “Ice” Jones.
Not only that, but discontent and resentment had grown within the once close group, which ended in all of them walking away from each other on bad terms. Then, in mid-2019, Zack reunited with his childhood friends, Solomon Graham, Eddie Evans and Cliff Maxwell and helped them build the early days of the FWA. From there, Zakk Swann and Cliff Maxwell were a Tag Team, known as The Renegade Revolution. They weren’t successful in the slightest and mostly used in a comedy angle with the Kumquat Kid, which ended in KK walking away the second ever Unlimited champion. From there, Zakk went back to Japan, reclaiming his original moniker of SWANN, and once again being the Demon Of The East. Upon his return, he was met with thunderous applause, which is something he didn’t expect. Then, after spending a bit more time in Japan and rediscovering himself, he returned to the FWA at the tail end of Season 1 to face the Kumquat Kid for the FWA Unlimited championship in a victorious effort. It seemed he was finally going to go on a role in the American scene and get the push he deserved… However, that’s not quite how things went down.
On December 23rd, just two days before Christmas, the FWA held a Christmas themed event titled Seasons Beatings, where the infamous Christmas Chaos match was held. In that match, Donald Dream picked the Unlimited championship out of every other championship (granted, it was wrapped in wrapping paper and he couldn’t tell which belt it was, but still). Immediately after that, SWANN pinned Ace Sky… and won the Hardcore championship, becoming the first of two to hold both of those belts. He then immediately lost the belt to Dempsey due to the 24/7 rule. A few weeks later, on the Season 2 premiere, SWANN then defeated Blair Sigma to become a 2-time Hardcore champion before being pinned by Dempsey again. Then, he would turn face and go into a short feud with Anonymous, which ended in him switching heel once again and revealing that he was with Anonymous the entire time. From there, he went on to become part of the Title Unification/Canadian title match at Reckless Warzone, in a losing effort, and revealing that Anonymous consisted of both SHW Rookies and recent FWA signee and resident psycho, Jeffrey Shaw, whom has his own motives for doing such a thing.
However, things did not go well for the stable. The fans rejected them on the grounds that they weren’t believable and soon thereafter, at the FWA/J-ROK Xtraction event, after a banger 4-on-4 elimination style tag team match, SWANN, Jeffrey Shaw and Jooey Grymm were all fired. However, all was not lost as soon after, the owner of J-ROK picked up the pieces and signed Zach to a contract with J-ROK to be in a Tag Team with his brother, Lucas. And now, we arrive in the present day, and Zach is now living in Nagasaki, Japan, full time, with his brother Lucas and his sister-in-law, Bella Lockhart. Things seem to be turning around… and hopefully it’ll stay that way.
