Hello! Caffrey/Anthony here. Let me give you the quick start guide to what this company is:
Core Beliefs:
Community: We’re advertised as “for everyone”, and I mean it, but I understand that’s not for everyone. If you are one of those people who gets mad at a form for having “pronouns” on it, this might not be the place for you. I believe everyone has a story to tell, everybody’s got the right to have fun and be happy doing this weird-ass hobby of ours, and that’s that. All handlers and characters are also treated with the same decency/understandings regardless of race, gender, orientation, et cetera. I ask that you don’t make a character that’s completely unbelievable or offensive to be offensive, but that’s about it. As I read bios, I may send you a PM if an issue arises, but I’m expecting things to be fine for 90% of people.
Competition: This is an RP fed, meaning you write against someone else. Many people love the storytelling aspect of e-fedding, but I need that war of words to keep myself going week-in/week-out. However, I’m open to angling matches if both opponents agree for whatever reason. Hell, you could even roll dice for the match result if you both really want to. In this spirit of competition, one of our three championships is going to be a learner’s championship, aimed at catering to those who aren’t the most experienced or comfortable writers. There also is no upper or lower limit for our world championship/tag titles, which will be explained later on in this post.
Collaboration: Our RP limits are going to be “freestyle”. What does that mean? When a card goes up, you’ll have roughly twoish+ weeks to RP as shows are every three weeks. (They may transition down to two weeks if we get more staff, but it’s just me for now.) During that first week, you’ll communicate and negotiate with your opponent to set your RP limits. Let’s go into this further.
Only comfortable writing 500 words in an RP? “Hey, can we do 500 words x 2 RPs?” “Cool, I’m super busy, that sounds great.” And bam, you’re off to the races once you both agree.
Big meaty writer that loves to describe everything? “Hey, what about 5000 word word counts?” “Oh hell yeah.” And there you go, go write your new War and Peaces.
“I have this idea where what if we both go back and forth in one RP thread”, “Well, what if we go roll dice on Discord for this” --= I’m open to different ways of solving who wins a match as long as you both agree. Some weeks, however, you won’t quite come to an agreement.
So what if a 500-word time-crunched writer is booked against someone who loves 5000 word manifestos? There’s two solutions:
1) Agree to Disagree: You and your opponent just wanna tell dueling stories of however many words you want. Your competing two RPs have unlimited word counts, but the word count doesn’t matter in judging. Saying this now: I personally do not care what length RPs are, as long as they’re well-written and entertaining.
2) Advantage/Disadvantage: Similar to DND or handicaps in golf, this is best explained with an example. If you love writing 500 words, but your opponent loves 5000 words, you can decide on an RP limit like 3K but with advantage/disadvantage. This means that your opponent who loves 5K writes with disadvantage, meaning they have to clearly beat you (not a close match, no ties) in order to beat you. Because you have a bigger challenge, you are writing with advantage. This can also be implied vice versa, like if you both decided to only write 750 words.
Please be aware: if you do not communicate in advance to both me and your opponent that you're going to end up sandbagging (RPing very close to an established deadline, like within ten minutes of it), there will be a penalty.
SPOTS!
To further bolster the collaboration aspect, each time you are booked I will strongly, strongly request that you PM me 1-2 spots for pre-match, during the match, or post-match. These are actions or some speech that helps establish your character further. A few examples:
"Can I have my wrestler sit in the crowd during one of the earlier matches?" Sure, okay.
"Can I have my wrestler get really mad about the things my opponent said and go on a punching fest during the match?" Works.
"Can I have my wrestler try to shake my opponent's hand as the bell rings or after the match?" Doable.
As long as it doesn't screw your opponent, or bury the match result, I'll allow it. You may not get exactly what you want, but trust me if I make an adjustment it's in order to better serve a story/narrative/the characters involved. I have pretty good instincts for this.
Championships:
FIRESIDE World Championship: Open to all handlers/wrestlers, RP limits are decided by the competitors. This means that someone who writes incredibly long or short could be champion, and also then get unseated by someone who writes the inverse.
FIRESIDE Tag Team Championships: Same as worlds, but in pairs. Teams will either form on their own or may be thrown together. Please let me know privately if you really don’t want to tag or tag with someone.
Learners Championship (to be named): Open to new/inexperienced writers, RP limits are decided by staff. These will be short RPs (less than 1000 words each), but come with a special challenge aimed at improvement attached to scoring. “Please introduce a character from your wrestler’s life”, “don’t mention your opponent”, “write less than five lines of dialogue”, and sometimes even a silly challenge may appear, but they are all meant to get you to improve your writing.
RP Feedback:
Available upon request. I believe in helping people get better but you have to want to get better.
Who Are You:
My name’s Anthony, I’ve been e-fedding for over ten years. I’m a former AWF admin and AXW/AWF/SWAT wrestler. I’m a two-time X-Crown champion (one with Subject #42). I also wrote the XHF Rumble and stole Night of Champions with Swann’s Kingdom. I do have plans to write big cinematic matches at special points for the company, but if I do that every show it loses being special pretty fast. Matches will be fully written though for every show, thought there may be differing lengths here and there.
Lastly, How Do I Sign Up:
Go to the Applications/Roster section, grab the app, make a new thread, and complete the form. Welcome!
Thanks,
Caffrey
