Take a look around you, admire everything you see, let it all be soaked in as you watch life take its course.
That's what I taught myself when I look up to the night sky, right now I think about home and how I miss it so much. The simplistic lifestyle of being in Japan is far more different than being here in America, but we all have to make the most valuable changes in life and right now, I made that choice for not only myself but for my family - Safil and Kiko - to make sure they are happy with the changes and help them out more than it helps me.
I welcomed myself to FIRESIDE, a place that accepted me for who I was and what I am, there was never the doubtful questions of my legitimacy when they asked me to come along. There was never the doubt of me being new to the changes I'd have to make to be here, albeit they are small changes like learning a new language and learning about how Americans use body language a lot more than the people back in Japan does, but they are changes I can adapt to. FIRESIDE gave me chances that not a whole lot would be willing to allow, they allowed me to be who I am and be an uprising wrestler at heart. I have been doing this for what's been five years now. I started at the age of eighteen and I was taught by the most popular names in Japanese Wrestling history. They told me I was one of their brightest students, and if done right, I was destined to be a star very soon. So... FIRESIDE allowed me to be that humbled star in the making.
I always questioned how I would do on my very first night, and now, I wait no longer. My first obstacle is a bright young man going by the name of Elijah Townsend, and this one, I am very excited about. I have been paying very close attention to you, sir, and you have amazed me with what talent I’ve seen from you. You’ve always imagined yourself to be a Professional Wrestler like I have. That’s what makes us very similar I feel, we both look for our beginning moments, our first-time shots in the spotlight. I honestly cannot await for it. Elijah, we’ve both come from very different lifestyles and we’ve both came into the professional wrestling scene in a very different fashion from one another. I wouldn’t know about how you were taught but I was taught by cleaning the gear of those who performed on the bigger shows, fed them their supper when it was time to eat, I even got hit a couple of times when standing outside of the ring and observing the action. They were not little small slaps on the wrist for not paying enough attention, I could be hit stiff for just being there. I'm sure that you could say that you might feel pity but honestly, you wouldn't understand.
I wouldn't be wrong to assume that on your first night you want to prove to the entire world and the XHF Network itself that you can be as good as you say you are but at the end of the day, Elijah, there is nothing more I have in mind than to make sure I bring honor to my name. I fight like a warrior and I will die like a warrior if I must. Elijah, I wish you nothing more but the best of luck to us very soon but come to the very first show of FIRESIDE- you will soon learn that the Golden Dragon never extinguishes.
I shall see you soon, friend.
Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Home is what it was to Kyosuke and his family as they sat in their back garden, staring up at the night sky, watching the stars sparkle and shine. Kiko was fast asleep in Safil’s arms, who was already laying into Kyosuke’s arms. The music that played through a small speaker right next to the couple and child was some classical music to set the mood, Safil checked on Kiko to see her baby girl fast asleep before lifting her head to see Kyosuke staring up to the sky still.
“(Kyo, is everything okay?)” Safil asks.
“(Perfectly fine, just feels so… different. Changes are taking place, my love, and the feeling of learning those changes are what I can be afraid of.)” A simple reply leaves his lips. “(I couldn’t find anything like this back in Tokyo. Bright lights of the city, too illuminated for the night sky to handle, it was all a bit too much. This right here though… I have begun to love it.)”
“(Do you see this as a permanent change or something temporary?)” she again asks and then pauses for a moment. “(I feel like we might not be going back to Japan any time soon- with the current pandemic and other things. I know you love how this place you signed for is giving not just you what you need but for all of us as well, but I would like to know if this is an environment where Kiko will be living with?)”
Kyosuke is hesitant to answer at first, of course, this wasn’t his first choice to stay as he had planned for New Orleans in Louisiana but Atlantic City was more cheaper and affordable than New Orleans.
“(For the time being, yes, this is where we will say.)”
“(What about that house you looked at in New Orleans?)” Again, asking for a third time.
“(Simply could not afford for it, my dear.)” Kyosuke kisses Safil on her forehead. “(But maybe sometime, later on, we can move if Atlantic City is not the right place for Kiko. I care about you and our daughter more than I should care about myself- though that might be the problem, I want to make sure my daughter is grown up in time to be educated properly and taught with the right tutors about her future.)”
“(I know that’s what you want, dear, and soon it will happen. Kiko is a bright little girl and I know she has a whole new future ahead of her, seven months old and her parents are looking down on her with hope for her potential.)” She stated. “(Her father a professional wrestler, her mother a modeling magazine cover girl, who knows what Kiko will be when she grows older.)”
“(All I know is that I’ve made the right choice for my family, I hope people can respect that for what I’ve done.)”
“(Soon enough, everyone in FIRESIDE will know about you, Kyo. Just got to have a little bit of faith.)” she softly spoke “(If you believe in our future, then I can trust you with it. Your first match here in the United States, I know you will show the world exactly what makes you a Golden Dragon.)”
Kyosuke sighed. A sense of doubt struck him. “(The name of the Golden Dragon was something that Nagata gave me before we left to come here, he told me to keep it and show the world what I can do, make sure I bring honor to that name. I wouldn’t let him down but I made a promise to bring honor and pride to his work, that is something I cannot break for even a second.)”
“(I understand.)” Safil replied.
“(Come on, let us go inside and bring Kiko to bed. We can talk about this another day.)”
Safil sat up and stood as Kyosuke stood up and brought them inside, switching off the back garden lights as he heads into their home. The stars were bright but soon enough, Kyosuke Nakata was going to be the brighter star in the sky.
