We are in the office of one Gus Arnold. Ethan Mills and Joe Ghaven sit in chairs across from him. Joe has his SEE Floridian State championship belt over his shoulder. Gus gives it a curious look before looking to Ethan.
Arnold: What can I do for you today?
Mills: We would like to exchange this title in for a one on one shot against the X*Crown champion, Dylan Black.
Arnold: You want Ghaven to face Dylan Black for the X*Crown title? Let me see the rules involving that.
Gus Arnold opens a drawer and gets out a small pamphlet given to Fed Heads at their inclusion into the XHF Network. He opens it up and begins to read.
Arnold: It says that a person with a World title from a dead federation may challenge for the X*Crown in a one on one match that will see that the title is absorbed inot the lineage of the X*Crown. Let’s see. Is, what does SEE stand for?
Mills: Shrouded Enigma Entertainment.
Gus wrinkles his nose at the “Entertainment” portion of the name. It makes a company sound weaker.
Arnold: Is Shrouded Enigma Entertainment closed?
Mills: Well, no.
Arnold: Is the Floridian State championship at least their World title?
Mills: Well, no.
Gus looks at Ethan Mills with a general WTF expression.
Arnold: So SEE is not a dead fed, someone else is probably the actual title holder of the Floridian State championship, and it is not the World title, but you are expecting to trade what amounts to be a stolen championship belt for a shot at the X*Crown.
Mills: You know when you put it that way, it sort of makes us sound like we won the championship and then simply left the company without much notice and stole the belt.
Arnold: It sounds exactly like that. What is your current relationship with SEE?
Mills: Well, we don’t exactly-
Ghaven: We left the company and were banned from even their website. We have no idea who their current champion is.
Arnold: That sounds about right. I’m sorry, Joe, but I’m going to have to shoot this entire concept down right here. There is no way that I would stick my neck out over this sham of a deal.
Ethan Mills stands up, looking disgusted. Joe holds out a restraining hand.
Ghaven: Now, Ethan.
Mills: Don’t “Now, Ethan” me! We put a lot of hard work into winning this championship in a match where you hard to make your opponent bleed before winning the match with a pinfall on a submission move.
Arnold: You’re not making your case any better.
Mills: Fuck you, man! I heard rumors that Dylan Black was going to be in NPW and I want my Joe Ghaven to face him in the ring for that title by hook or by fucking crook!
Now, Gus Arnold is on his feet, looking pissed.
Arnold: Now look here! All you’re cruising for is a bruising if you think that you can come into my office and talk to me like that.
Joe Ghaven reaches up with a hand, grabs Ethan Mills by the shoulder, and pulls him down back into the seat.
Ghaven: I’m sorry that my manager seems to have lost his manners. I would like it very much if I could face Dylan Black in the ring, but you are right in that this title is worthless for exchanging. I will just wrestle my already scheduled matches and be happy for the opportunity.
Gus Arnold’s eyes narrow as he regards Ethan Mills for a moment longer, but then he nods to Joe and sits back down.
Arnold: You tag up with Adrien King, a former EWF Television champion against Brad Swann and John Cavanagh.
Ghaven: Thank you, sir. It sounds like it will be an excellent match up. A challenge for my capabilities.
Mills: A challenge? Are you talking about the guy that goes around, crushing the competition, and beheads people?
Arnold: One and the same.
Ethan looks from Joe Ghaven to Gus Arnold like they were insane.
Mills: What if he decides to cut off your head?
Ghaven: We will just have to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Arnold: That kind of thing won’t be allowed. Honest.
Mills: Whatever. If Ghaven defeats Brad Swann in the ring, can we see about facing Dylan Black then?
Gus Arnold looks at Ethan Mills with a grin.
Arnold: I don’t know what your source is, but I think you are mistaken. I don’t think Dylan Black is coming to NPW anytime soon.
Mills: But if he does?
Arnold: Then, we will see who gets to earn a match.
Ethan’s jaw drops and it looks like he’s about to speak in anger when Joe Ghaven covers his mouth.
Ghaven: It looks like we should be going now. Thank you for your time, Mr. Arnold.
Arnold: Anytime, Joe.
Joe Ghaven releases Ethan’s mouth and he looks like he really wants to speak, but does not. He stands up instead, looking to Joe Ghaven.
Mills: Well, let’s get you into training. I don’t know what kind of training allows you to keep your head, but we’ll do it.
Arnold: What can I do for you today?
