The XHF X*Crown Vault, XHF HQ
Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
Dylan: Overrated is such a strong term for someone who's never been rated to use.
We open on Dylan, sat in the X*Crown vault. He chooses to sit upon a small stool, his wall of championships nearly filled out behind him. Dylan clears his throat, and the camera focuses upon him.
Dylan: As much as I want to show off the Vault, tonight isn't about the entirety of the vault, about each championship that graces the wall. It's about you and me. It's about this.
He taps the championship sat on his shoulder. He sits in silence a moment.
Dylan: Perhaps I underestimate you, Señor Bones. You certainly had a lot to say since we first met face-to-face in New Orleans. I haven't had a lot of time to digest what you said, but I made sure to pay extra special attention to you. I want to pay attention to the things you said, especially the parts where you spoke nothing but blasphemies! Hanging on to your theories by the thinnest of threads. Allow me to address the elephant in the room, mate. I do not fear you. I do not fear being a joke. I lived most of my career being hailed as a joke. A loss to you, it would not make me revert to my prior form! You underestimate my ability to adapt, my determination to evolve to be greater!
He turns to the BDDWF Ultimate Championship on his shelf.
Dylan: You know, my choice of Kanyon's grave was less of an opportunity to help you allude your own career to his. Truthfully, I was there to collect my dues. But, you took that as something more. Something bigger. There is no denying the alignments between Kanyon's career and your own. Comparisons could even be drawn to my own. We all had comedic starts, before Kanyon was able to turn his around and take the whole world in his hand. That is where I am now, and that is where you aspire to be.
Dylan: You have the biggest opportunity, with everything to gain from this. But what happens when you back a wolf against the wall, on the edge of a cliff while trying to snatch its prize catch? When that wolf has everything to lose, he's going to fight with everything he has, tooth and bloody nail, to get out of that scrap with his everything intact. That's what will happen on Saturday.
He leans in.
Dylan: At Homecoming, you are going to be putting me in a position that many others have tried to put me in before. Like many others, you're aiming to take the most important thing in my possession, by force none the less. I want you to know, there will be nothing holding me back from bringing a most painful end to you. The Messiah of Mayhem, it's more than a moniker. It's more than a choice. It's a style of life. I live, I thrive on making people hurt. And making you hurt, it's just gonna be the beginning.
Cracking his knuckles.
Dylan: For starters. I will break a knuckle in each finger for every time you swapped back and forth from speaking English to Spanish. We get it, you're bi-lingual. That's no easy task, I'll give you that. But even the most advanced English and Spanish speakers must have had a hard time listening to your gibberish. Perhaps for every time you falsely claimed I feared becoming a joke, I'll send an electric shock through your body. For every time you attempt escape, for every time you try to pin or submit me before I am ready to finish our affair, I'll twist your legs in disfiguring manners. The most acrobatic of people cannot dance when they cannot stand. And when you're a broken, pain-filled carcass, a stain on the mat, I will put you out of your misery.
The look in his eyes has never been more serious. The icy stare almost penetrates through the camera. His upper lip curls up a bit, to a snarl, before speaking.
Dylan: This could have been a respectful match, Señor Bones. But you took the first shots, you wanted First Blood. And now, I have to finish you off. I have to make an example of you, to show the world why you don't disrespect the Shogun of XHF. I have to get Last Blood.
He stands up and picks up his X*Crown. He turns to the door, the camera following him as he exits.
Dylan: Allow me to leave you with a final though, Kanyon poser. You are not as funny as Chris at his best. You are very atheletic, and even entertaining, but blackjack and hookers will only get you so far in life. Regardless, you need someone to aspire to be like. So I encourage you to make all the comparisons between yourself and the great Chris Kanyon. This will allow me to be your Rob Arnold, and... do my best to break your neck. Because I'm Dylan Black...
The cold open reverts to his signature smirk.
Dylan: And I won't stop until I'm the best X*Crown Champion there ever will be.
He walks out of the vault and into the corridors of the XHF HQ as we fade to black, perhaps for the last time.
