We open on Isabel Rios stepping out of the locker room in her street clothes; warm leggings, high top sneakers, a toque with the High Voltage™ logo and a rather festive sweater, her winter coat draped over her arm, pulling her wheeled gear bag behind her by it’s handle. A few journalists approach and Isabel offers a smile and a nod, stopping against the wall so that they could form a semi-circle before her.
Reporter 1: “Isabel, any comments on your victory tonight?”
“I’m just really happy to walk out with the win, honestly. Deco brought it; she almost had me a couple times and if she’d managed to get out of that Koji clutch we probably would’ve ended up going to the draw.”
Reporter 2: “Do you feel lucky that you won?”
Isabel’s brow furrows a little, a momentary look of annoyance on her face before shaking her head.
“Absolutely not. Yeah, luck comes into play in matches, for and against, but I won that match because I took every shot Deco could land, avoided the big ones when I had to and found a way to finish her when I had the chance. I won that match because I earned it, not because I was lucky. This wasn't a Christmas miracle fellas, just the results of a shitload of hard work.”
Reporter 3: “Were you frustrated when Deco kicked out of the Redtail Driver?”
Isabel lets out a little laugh, her smile returning as she gives a little shrug.
“I mean yeah, for a second I was, but you can’t let feelings like that take over, not when you’re in there with an opponent as good as Deco was tonight. Feel it, acknowledge it and get the fuck over it so you can get back to the job, y’know?”
Reporter 2: “It looked like you might’ve been out when Deco hit the dotHACK on you, but you got your foot on the ropes to save the match. What were you thinking at that moment?”
Isabel laughs a little, shaking her head.
“Honestly? I wasn’t. You have enough matches, spend enough time in the ring, it just kinda becomes instinct to reach out for the ropes when you’re close. If I’d been a foot closer to the middle of the ring, maybe a different story tonight. But I wasn’t, so it wasn’t, y’know?”
Reporter 1: “I noticed you’ve been wearing a lot of stuff with the High Voltage logo on it, something going on with that?”
Isabel visibly brightens again, giving a nod.
“Yeah! I didn’t want to announce anything before the match, didn’t want to take my focus off Deco, but I am officially the newest athlete sponsored by High Voltage energy drinks. They make a great product and I’m a filthy caffeine addict so it’s kind of a match made in heaven. Really looking forward to working with them to expand their fanbase within the pro wrestling world and maybe get a few more eyes on me and NPW in the process too. Anyway, I’m gonna get out of here, I’ll see you guys around.”
With that Isabel pulls her coat on before maneuvering her way past the reporters and towards the exit as the shot fades out.
