"At the end of our time in this mortal shell, we are all destined to fall into the great black void for eternity. A calm, serene, dark, inky blackness that overtakes the senses and shapes itself around our essence to contain all that we are in the great singularity of beyond. For a long time we have been preaching about the inevitability of this fate and how we should not fear it or seek it out, but allow it to happen and embrace the eternity when the time comes."
"And here we stand in this monument to the proof of this inevitable end. Surrounded by the shells and bones and structures of beings who have already passed the veil and become one with the abyss. And why are we here?"
"I should think that would be obvious."
~Our scene is set inside of a museum. Not just any museum but an empty and dark Dinosaur hall inside the Academy of Natural Sciences at Drexel University located in the heart of Philadelphia where our fair Fireside federation is based. Standing alone beside the Deinonychus statue are Esmur and Gebin, unmasked but wearing masks … if that makes sense? It appears they have used Caffrey’s connections to get into the closed museum for the purposes of publicity for both the Dinosaur Hall and Fireside.~
"Did you know this is the dinosaur the velociraptors in Jurassic Park were actually based on?"
"It’s true. The real velociraptor was much smaller and covered in feathers. Theropods are fascinating. But this raptor is not the reason we are here today. For so long we have been trying to educate the XHF Network on the truth of existence and what is waiting at the end of it all. And for so long people have either ignored the message, misconstrued it either accidentally or maliciously, or just chose to mock us for our beliefs."
~The two luchadores move into the great hall passed some full skeleton exhibits: Tenontosaurus, Avocerotops, Chasmosaurus, and Tylosaurus. They take a minute to admire the variety and the history. Gebin runs his hand through his flowing black hair as Esmur adjusts his face mask strokes his chin.~
"But this new year’s eve Esmur here has a surprising opportunity. For so long we have been trying to get everyone to listen to a message that they have to hear from living men. Men who could not possibly know for SURE what happens at the end. After all, so many religions have after life teachings, surely one of THEM must be accurate right? And as men who have divested from the very idea of organized religion or the concept of a guardian creator deity or deities … we understand the leap in logic it takes to abide by our words."
"But at Good Riddance I don’t just have my opportunity to win a shot for the Fireside World title against Misha Constantine or Mistress Discipline … but I have the rare opportunity for some one on one time with a being who, by all accounts, SHOULD have some real evidence and experience on the concept of death and the beyond to share with me."
~The men turn a corner from the room full of dinosaur bones to stand beneath the mouth of the very animal that Esmur is coming face to face with at Good Riddance. Tyrannosaurus Rex.~
"The Tyrant Lizard King, Tyrannosaurus Rex, presented here for your perusal as dinosaur bones. Perhaps this specimen was related to our dear undead dracolich, the dread lord. This specimen stands over ten meters in length and was likely over six tons in weight when alive. It roamed the tropical climates of North America 65-68 million years ago. And it would seem it’s brethren also roamed the wastelands of SWAT it would seem in the more recent epoch of … this decade."
~The men stare in awe at the size of the monster before them~
"Of course Dinosaur Bones is not really the correct size to be dinosaur bones is he?"
"Now now Gebin, Fireside is an accepting tolerant place. We will not disparage his history or identity. If he is truly a … survivor? Receased specimen? If he identifies as a monster dread lord emerged from the tar filled wastes of La Brea … then we will treat him as such. And if he is what he says he is then we should take every opportunity to speak to this sentient ossified reptilian should we not?"
"Agreed, after all, the beast has a legacy behind him in SWAT that is respectable. And he did kill … allegedly … that evil Zoran Sainovic. But this is a being who supposedly faced the great beyond and returned to tell the tale. We should be hosting him on a podcast or a talk show. I’m sure Caffrey could set us up with one of those. Think of the information he could have about the end. He could be an enlightening presence in the world to confirm long held beliefs!"
"Dinosaur Bones … as you can tell the two of us are very intrigued about your very existence. I would ask that after you have been treated to a clinic on technical wrestling prowess and your tiny hands have tapped the mat to signify my victory … you come to our locker room and let us talk about the unending emptiness. If our understanding is correct we should simply provide for you some chunks of white meat poultry breaded and deep fried?"
~Esmur makes a golden arches symbol in the air with his fingers and … well he’s probably smirking but there’s a mask in the way. He begins to examine the skeleton more intently.~
"Ok DB, so how do I go about taking you down. Because I am not intending to let this opportunity pass me by. I have a chance to fight in the main event next month and open up the new year as champion again. The attention that title belt would afford us would allow us to get through to a larger audience and spread a message that 2021 can be a better year. After all this pandemic and isolation stuff, we can get people to see that even in the darkest times you can still find things worth existing for."
"What exactly brought you back from the great beyond dread lord? What is it that pushes you to keep on going and finding ways to continue avoiding the peace and tranquility you have surely earned? Because we are starting to wonder, looking at this exhibit and the reverence IT gets, as a casting of a real skeleton of a creature long gone … would you be better off in its position? Would Esmur be doing you a solid by returning you to the cold embrace of the void? I suppose you could enlighten us in that post-match chat about what your existence was between your demise and return…"
~Esmur seems to be focusing on the tail of the skeleton while sparing a moment to glance at the small, feeble hands of the T. Rex. He brushes his hair out of his eyes and turns to Gebin~
"A sound strategy if ever there was one. It’s clear where his offense comes from. DB … your very body structure betrays you. Your hands are useless, your legs are not fit for anything other than holding your body up. If I can cripple your tail, it will destroy your balance and neutralize your most surprising and powerful weapon. It’s no surprise Hayden CALLAHAN was unable to come up with an angle of attack. But I study my opponents, it’s a sign of respect you see. And while it pains me to have to bury other talents … in this case it is a fitting and merciful act on my part."
"Why do we need to go to Target?"
"We got Powerdriver in the FIRESIDE secret Santa … we need to get them some George Foreman Grills."
"Huh, sweet. Everyone loves and needs a Foreman grill."
~The security guard locks the door behind them as they thank him and pay him for their right to use the museum to send out material to the XHF Network. The camera fades on a slow zoom onto the mouth of the Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton’s skull, is that a McNugget in its maw?~
