Next Level Wrestling Presents
ASCENDENCY VII
LIVE from the Avron B Fogelman Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana
Saturday, January 9th, 2021
The opening riffs of "Obey" by Bring Me The Horizon and YUNGBLUD echoes throughout the arena as the fans begin to cheer loudly. The camera focuses on the announce team of Dan Simmons and Tommy West.
Dan Simmons: Happy New Year folks and welcome to the first edition of Ascendancy in 2021! As always I'm Dan Simmons and I'm here with my broadcast partner, Tommy West, Happy New Year Tommy.
Tommy West: Happy New Year to you Simmo! Now that the pleasantries are out the way, let's talk about the night we have ahead of us, because I'm excited, are you?
Dan Simmons: How can I not be? We have a main event that since BB Gunn announced it I've been wishing it could have been here sooner! Maze, Leon Chant, Gerhard Bishop, NLW Heavyweight Title on the line! I cannot wait!
Tommy West: You and me both Simmo, and it's not just that, we've got the first Southern States Champion to crown, Frank Dylan James has the edg in my book as he goes up against Jason Justice!
Dan Simmons: Frank's been constantly reminding Justice that he's not afraid to manhandle him, but this time there will be no distractions, it'll just be them one on one, I think it's too close to call. That's not all we have tonight though, we have a huge ten person tag team match!
Tommy West: A circus if you ask me. Joe Blow, Nathan Parker, Cats Dundee, Rafe White, Rex Brandon, Red Wasp, Malaika, Mr Bollywood, Al Jabroni and Big bone. I don't know what we'll be subjected to here, BB Gunn is a mad man for making this happen.
Dan Simmons: I wouldn't go that far, but it certainly will be...interesting! We also have the debut of Wallace as he goes up against The Whaler, Nate Pierce, and we get our first looks at Eli Dresden and Ghost, which is coming up right now!
MATCH ONE
Eli Dresden vs Ghost
The two debutants started off with a display of chain wrestling that got the crowd hot right from the get-go. The more athletic Dresden seemed to have the edge, ending the sequence when Ghosts ent her to the ropes and she surprised him with a head scissors takedown. Ghost regrouped in the corner and they opted to lock up once again, this time Ghost took control, slipping behind and using a waistlock to take Dresden to the mat, keeping her grounded with some nasty looking knees to the back of her head.
Asserting control, he began to show off some of his repertoire, delivering a picture perfect delayed vertical suplex, and adding a standing elbow drop for good measure. Ghost didn’t show a flicker of emotion as he continued his assault, throwing Eli into the corner and planting boots into her gut until she collapsed to her knees, gasping for air. The referee backed Ghost up, but no sooner as he let Ghost resume, he charged over and hit a knee to Dresden’s jaw, making the cover but only getting a two count.
Still no emotion as he continued, he lifted Dresden up to her feet by the back of her neck and whipped her to the corner. He charged, but Dresden flung both boots into his face, backing him up. She hopped to the second rope and as he came back at her, she hit a tornado DDT, dropping Ghost immediately!
After a quick moment to recompose, Dresden took charge, whipping Ghost to the corner and before he could think about a reply, she was in his face with a handspring elbow. A smirk flickered across her face as Ghost stumbled out of the corner, and she slipped through the second rope, and took off with a springboard cross body, making the cover but getting a two count. She immediately dragged Ghost back to his feet like she knew he would kick out, and again threw him into the corner, this time she returned the kicks he’d only delivered to her minutes ago. Much as she did, ghost dropped to the floor, but was in a seated position, seeing the opening, she ran and hit INCOMING [shooting star cannonball] to her prone opponent.
She took a moment to flicker another smile at the crowd, who were loving this. She walked back over to Ghost, who was on his knees, attempting to get back to his feet. As she grabbed him however, he caught her cold, surprising her with The Reboot [jawbreaker]. Dresden dropped back, and Ghost stumbled back to his feet. Cobwebs cleared, he stalked Dresden, who was a bit woozy herself, as she turned to face him, he went for the Fatal Error [spinning head kick], but Dresden ducked, and once ghost has spun a full three sixty degrees, she didn’t hesitate to hit the G.D.I [Arabian moonsault slam], making the pin and getting the three!
[WINNER: Eli Dresden Via G.D.I at 04:01]
Outside of the back entrance of the Avron B Fogelman Arena, a black town car pulls and parks. The driver quickly jumps out and runs to the back to open the door. Jolene, manager of the New South exits wearing a black business suit. She looks at the arena with a big smile on her face.
While taking in the sight of the arena, Jolene is approached by NLW interviewer, Kelly Ross.
Ross: Hi, Jolene! You’re the manager of the New South, correct? I’d love to get a few words with the guys if they have a mom…
Jolene cuts off Kelly.
Jolene: First of all Kelly, these are not just “some guys” that you come and bombard. They are the New South, Beau Traywick & Waylon Kirk.
Ross(clearly taken aback): I’m sorry, I meant no offense. But I would love to talk to Beau and Waylon now that they’ve joined Next Level Wrestling.
Jolene smirks and looks to the car before looking back to Kelly.
Jolene: I’m sorry but the New South doesn’t have time for questions right now. You can try stopping by our locker room tonight and they will consider it.
With that, Jolene turns her back to Kelly. Out of the car comes the New South. Beau Traywick is dressed in a navy plaid suit and Waylon Kirk in a light grey suit. They briefly look at Kelly before walking silently past her.
MATCH TWO
Nate Pierce vs Wallace
Pierce started slightly cautiously, knowing that Wallace was a bit of a tricky customer. After some circling, they lock up and Pierce used his physical advantage straight away, he clubbed Wallace to the ground with a large shot to his back, and started working him over with stomps, causing The Windy City Weirdo to slip to the outside and check in with his manager, Angus Bernstein. Bernstein had a quiet word with his charge before Wallace headed back to the ring apron. He attempted to surprise Pierce with a springboard attack, but Pierce was having none of it, flooring him with a European Uppercut. Wallace did somehow find his way back to his feet pretty quickly, but you could question if he knew where he was, and he stumbled into a belly-to-belly suplex from The Whaler.
Pierce looked like he wasn’t messing around tonight, staying on Wallace and throwing him around the ring, first a short arm clothesline that was followed with a standing leg drop, he then sent Wallace to the corner with a two handed choke throw. He ran to the corner but Wallace slipped away, Pierce stumbled back and turned into a cross body, but he caught Wallace and dispatched him with a fall away slam, covering his opponent but only getting two.
Pierce was unmoved, and lifted Wallace back up and had him up for a powerslam, but Wallace slipped behind and as The Whaler turned, he dropped him with a low dropkick, Pierce was on his knees and Wallace followed straight up with a shining wizard, getting a two count as Pierce powered straight out. Wallace knew he had to get the match to his terms as soon as possible, and in a quick sequence, he starts controlling Pierce with a couple of arm drags, and finally a head scissors takedown. With Pierce down he looked to the corner and runs at it, springing up from middle to top turnbuckle and hitting a moonsault. He covered again but only got a two once more.
Wallace dragged Pierce to his feet and hit him with Punch line [fake out punch], which dropped Pierce back to one knee. Wallace went to the ropes and looked for a shining wizard, but Pierce had popped back up and broke Wallace in half with the Puncture Wound [spear]. He got to his feet and called for the end, clearly in no mood to prolong this any more. Wallace got up using the ropes and despite warning from Bernstein, he stumbled into two hands on his throat and the Deep Sea Plunge [chokebomb], The Whaler made the cover and it was all over.
[WINNER: Nate Pierce Via Deep Sea Plunge at 06:34]
[Backstage.]
NLW interviewer Kelly Ross approach both Gerhard Bishop and Karl Hagen as they enter the building through the back door. The Rotterdam Rottweiler his sporting the colours of his home nation in the form of a track suit. Karl Hagen is dressed in a custom suit, and appears prepared for a celebration. Before Kelly can ask a question, Karl jerks the microphone from her hand, and starts his own personal tirade.
Karl Hagen: "It seems as Maze and his Prick have this whole thing figured out. In simple logic for their simple minds - Maze has deduced that A + B must equal C."
Gerhard is jogging on the spot, looking to stay loose. His demeanour is that of a wild animal that's ready to pounce.
Karl Hagen: "Let me remind you, Maze. Gerhard Bishop's shoulder have ever been pinned to the mat here in Next Level Wrestling. So your long winded attempt at confidence falls short on may levels. Mr. Bollywood was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time to pick up Gerhard's scraps and then fell into a pinfall situation to get his hand raised."
Karl turns to Gerhard and slaps him across the chest.
Karl Hagen: "A convenient narrative to spin, when you haven't set foot in the ring with Gerhard. Your outlook and refusal to search deeper proves your about as 'deep' as a hole in the head. When all is said and done, Gerhard Bishop is going to have his hand raised, and we're walking out of here with the Heavyweight Championship in our clutches."
Bishop pipes up, with a message for his adversaries.
Gerhard Bishop: "Tonight, I am going to slam both of you through the mat, Greco Roman Style! Tonight, I'm going to become the leader of this promotion with the mindset of taking this company to new heights. After tonight, the Southern Wrestling fans will have a new hero they can look up to. The type of hero who's capable of carrying the mantra of Champion while elevating the championship to new heights."
Bishop snarls.
Gerhard Bishop: "Tonight, Mr. Karl Hagen takes his proper place on the throne as the King of Southern Pro Wrestling."
Karl Hagen lets out a belly laugh.
Karl Hagen: "That's right, and a proper coronation will be arranged at the appropriate time. Our reign will be mighty, it will be fierce and it will be life changing."
Kelly Ross is left holding the mic, unable to get a word in edge-wise. Hagen delivers another jovial slap to Bishop's shoulder, as the two of them walk off camera.
[Cut.]
MATCH THREE
Ten Man Tag Team Match
Joe Blow, Nathan Parker, Michael Dundee, Rafe White and Rex Brandon vs Al Jabroni, Big Bone, The Red Wasp, Malaika and Mr Bollywood
As predicted by anybody with even half a knowledge of Next Level Wrestling, this was weird. As the bell rang, Joe Blow wasn’t on the apron, he’d taken a seat near to the commentary team, and was enjoying a beverage that was covered by a brown paper bag, a brown paper back that was leaking something that probably wasn’t from the contents of the beverage. He offered a small child a sip at ringside, but upon smelling the bag/beverage mixture, the child began to cry, possibly because of the smell, possibly because the fumes were that toxic that even an elephant may shed a tear. This of course wasn’t all that was going on, as Blow’s beverage seemed to catch the attention of The Red Wasp, who joined the hobo and asked if he could share some of it, which in turn seemed to aggravate Nathan parker, who had dropped down and couldn’t get over the fact that Blow seemed willing to share with Wasp, but had turned him down earlier in the night, Blow simply replied “that’s the point” with a smirk on his face, which incensed Parker, and required Michael Dundee to hold him back from possibly attacking the man who had urinated on him weeks ago.
Meanwhile there seemed to be discussion between The Director of Doom, “Disco Boy” Johnny B and Jinzo Kurosaki about who on their team should start the match. The Director seemed to be insistent on Mr Bollywood starting this match, and was arguing the case to the other two, despite neither of them really disagreeing. Big Bone watched on with Mono Despiadado. There was no expression to see from Big Bone, given that he was masked, but his shoulders suggested that this was all a bit weird, even for him.
Rafe White was stood waiting for the match to start, and was getting pissed off with each passing second, and in fairness the bell rand about three minutes ago and we hadn’t had a single bit of forward motion in this match. In fact, he’d had enough and tagged Rex Brandon in, who didn’t seem at all thankful, especially as White announced that even he “couldn’t cleanse this much of a mess” and bailed out of the ring and to the back, making this a five on four situation. Brandon looked around and realised that he was pretty much on his own, Blow was with Wasp and they seemed quite happy in their activities, White had bailed, and Parker was still having a temper tantrum and was being pulled from the proverbial ceiling by Cats Dundee. Brandon puffed his chest out and offered the crowd a simple “screw this” and looked like he was going to follow White out of the match, but finally, finally an opponent was behind him. Big Bone was in and turned Brandon around before he could leave, and dropped him with the Bonesaw [burning lariat].
Realising what had happened, The Director of Doom was up on the ring apron screaming blue murder, and demanded that Big Bone gave his client the tag in. Big Bone stared at The Director for a moment and shook his head, before obliging him. He picked Hard Knocks Brandon up and threw him in the corner, tagging Bollywood in and exiting the ring. Bollywood started to showboat immediately, hitting a delayed brainbuster to Brandon and carried on flaunting to the crowd. Brandon was crawling to his corner but by the time either Parker or Dundee could pay attention, Bollywood had grabbed Rex once again and nailed him with the New Dheli Driver [double underhook piledriver]. Instead of going for the pin, he once again played up to the crowd, which prompted Johnny B to tell Jabroni to get in there, Jabroni did what he was told, making the blind tag as Bollywood strutted towards his corner.
This made The Director of Doom apoplectic, and he was screaming both at Bollywood and Johnny B. He walked towards Disco Boy with his clipboard raised, but was floored before he could get in there as he was taken to the floor with a Monkeybone, as Big Bone had decided enough was enough, and picked his little pal up and launched him at the now quietened Director., Bollywood quicly went to his manager's aid asking Bone why he did it, Big Bone simply turned his back on the Sensational Singh, Malaika and Jinzo were looking on in utter confusion and Joe Blow was simply having a great time with the Red Wasp.
Meanwhile Al Jabroni was on the top rope, and as Brandon stumbled to his feet he was taken back down with the Catch 22 [flying hurricanrana] and made the pin, Dundee and Parker heard the impact and slid into the ring but it was too late, the referee had made the three count.
[WINNERS: Al Jabroni, The Red Wasp, Big Bone, Malaika & Mr Bollywood Via Catch 22 at 09:45]
With the three count, Jabroni made a quick exit, not risking an attack from a clearly upset Parker. He exited and was followed by Red Wasp, Malaika, and Big Bone. Parker and Dundee sighed and soon followed leaving Brandon to eventually get to his feet and looked down at Joe Blow, who seemed to have finished his drink and was still laughing at the events that had transpired. Brandon screamed at Blow, asking where the hell he was in all that, Blow just smiled again, causing Brandon to get out the ring and in his face. Blow, unmoved simply started to roll a cigarette as Hard Knocks kept shouting at him. This only annoyed Brandon more, and he knocked the paper and tobacco from the Hobo's hand. Blow's expression souered, and he replied by grabbing the bottle and smashing it over Brandon's head, and with Brandon staggering back, he hit the No Effort. Brandon was down, his head covered in a mix of his own blood and some residual liquid from the bottle/bag combination. Blow wasn't done, and with a smirk reached into his trunks and proceeded to apply the Stink Hand to Brandon, mercifully at this point we went to commercial, but those in attendance watched on...
We open on El Rey, backstage at Ascendency VII. He may not be scheduled, but that doesn't mean he won't be scouting potential opponents for the next show. He jogs in place for a moment, before a voice says from behind him.
??: Who the hell are you fooling. You? The kid of El Combatiente? Give me a break.
We turn around to see Dylan Black leaning against a wall behind El Rey. Rey puffs his chest out, squaring up. Dylan smirks.
Dylan: Please. Your charade can end. Ain't nothing to prove to anyone here.
The smirk fades.
Dylan: You know, if I knew a little more about you before you came to me, specifically you were "El Combatiente's son," I would have thought a little harder before giving you my official endorsement. You thrived for a bit under that mask, but it seems unmasking has done more than expose your identity - you've been exposed as a fraud. I hope you realize how much of an idiot people have said I am for giving you such kind words.. Do you have anything to say for yourself?
El Rey: Not to you or anyone else. I am the son of a legend trained by another legend. I have earned my way here and I do not answer to anyone. Now stop pushing your unmasking flaws on me and move on.
Dylan waves hands, dismissing El's comments.
Dylan: Whatever. I'm not here to diss you for your lack of performance. Instead, I wanted you to know that I am banking on you to win at Battle for Hegemony. In fact, I'm even putting money in a betting pool that you'll succeed. Because despite how you've soured my opinion on yourself, I want to see guys like you succeed. Young guys like you and Pepe Morales, not guys who are already striding in success like Adam Sanders, or guys well past their primes like Jonnie and Timeless. Guys like you...
He pokes his finger, a little rough, into ER's chest.
Dylan: ...you should be on top, main eventing with me. But you need to earn your stripes kid, and being a disrespectful bitch won't get you anywhere.
El Rey: Disrespectful? I have to have had respect for you to even be able to disrespect you. You came into the Network a big shot in a small pound. Then you thought you were so big you could do double duty. You may have thrived in the mask but we all remember your failures without it. I was in the crowd when my dad and Uncle James beat you and your insane partner. I saw how pathetic you were without the mask on. You may be on top now, but you are still that pathetic loser.
Dylan opens his mouth to clap back,, but shakes his head, opting to ignore the rookies comments and turns his back on him. As he turns, he sees the edge of a mask. He pulls it out, and frowns at the sight. He takes the mask of his partner El Combatiente, before throwing it away from El Rey.
Dylan: You don't deserve to wear any fucking mask of my friend.
He slings the X*Crown over his shoulder, walking out of El Rey's room.
We cut backstage to NLW Interviewer, Kelly Ross, armed with microphone and a smile on her face.
Ross: NLW fans, joining me at this time is NLW General Manager, BB Gunn!
Gunn walks in shot, a beaming smile on his face.
Ross: BB, first of all, how are you feeling ahead of 2021?
Gunn: Kelly, I’ll tell you now, I feel almost on top of the world. These first few months of NLW have been a success, we have inquiries from all over the world about coming to join our already impressive list of talent, we’re making our name hard across the XHF Network, 2021 can only get better!
Ross: We’re being well represented at the next XHF Network events as well.
Gunn: Exactly, El Rey heads to Battle for Hegemony, and whilst he will be challenged, he knows full well what an opportunity to go to Supremacy means. He saw how close Big Bone came to taking Dylan Black’s X*Crown away and he told me he thinks he can go one better. We also have Eli Dresden and the Academy representing NLW, and you just know they’re going to cause a stir.
Ross: What are your feelings ahead of this blockbuster double main event?
Gunn: What can I say? They’re going to be off the chain, Kelly! And that’s partly what I wanted to talk to you about today, I want all five of those men on notice, whoever comes out on top, their next opponents are going to be queuing up, and both titles will be on the line on February 20th, which is the date of our second Pay Per View offering: Masquerade.
Gunn beams again.
Gunn: Next week, there’s going to be a six-person tag team match, and the winners of that match will go from team mates to contenders for the World heavyweight Title, as all three will face the winner of our main event in a four corners ladder match at Masquerade!
Ross: Any clues as to who may get the shot?
Gunn: Expect an announcement in the next twenty four hours, I’ve got names in mind but I’d rather not take any more shine off these next two matches, I suggest you try and find a front row seat as well Kelly, nobody wants to miss this!
Gunn winks and walks off, Kelly turns back to the camera.
Ross: Well, there you have it folks, NLW Masquerade, February 20th, and the NLW Heavyweight Title will be defended in a four corners ladder match!
MATCH FOUR
NLW Southern States Championship Match
Frank Dylan James vs Jason Justice
Before the bell rings, the referee pulls the championship out of the bag and shows it to the crowd for everyone to see.
The bell rings as the NLW Southern States Championship is now going to crown its first champion. Both men stare down one another and look to scout an opening as they meet in the middle of the ring, starting off in the Collar and Elbow Tie Up as both men going back and forth pushing one another, pushing one another against the ropes with both men digging their heels into the mat to hold their position but the taller and heavier Frank Dylan James tosses Jason Justice across the ring with the Biel Throw which leaves Frank to go into attack mode, trying to claw away at Justice but the Here and Now is kicking away Hilbilly Jesus with everything he has in him, making sure that he tries to not let Frank get any sort of advantage here early on in the match. Justice rolls out of the ring, narrowly avoiding Frank stomping a mudhole into him. Justice circles around the ring as the referee makes the count, he reaches up to six before Justice slides back in and then back out to break the count, knowing well that once Frank sees an opening, he’ll chomp down on it. Justice grabs the legs of Frank and pulls at them, knocking down the larger man as he slides into the ring and pounces on his opponent, wrestling him to the ground as he tries to get back to his feet. Justice is able to keep Frank down as he holds him down to the mat, pressing his knee down into his spine as he applies the Neck Crank on Frank. Justice soon is able to straightjacket the arms around the neck of Frank and pull them as he begins to choke out the big man but the referee starts his count to five which makes Justice release almost instantly.
Frank brings himself back to his feet, and not taking too kindly to the way that Justice wrestled him to the ground as Frank pounces on his prey, picking apart his opponent with perfectly timed crucifix elbows right down onto the shoulder and neck area. Frank is able to use his own “wrestling” abilities by rolling around with Justice trapped in his tight grasp. Frank is able to bring himself up to his feet and keeping Justice in his grasp as he throws him across the ring and into the turnbuckles with a German Suplex! Frank Dylan James is showing that dominance as he brings himself back up to his feet and charges into a barely standing Justice in the corner with the splash. Frank looks to go for the Biel Toss again but Justice turns it around and catches Frank with the Belly to Belly Suplex and right into the Juji-gatame submission. Justice is keeping that arm down as Frank is struggling to get the arm out of Justice’s grip but Frank is too powerful, deadlifting Justice with one arm and dropping him down to the mat hard with a Powerbomb. Frank makes the quick cover but Justice’s leg is left under the bottom rope.
The big man drags Justice from under the bottom rope and into the middle of the ring, rebounding off of the ropes and dropping the knee down onto the chest of Justice, almost crushing every bone in his body with the impact of the knee. Frank is well aware it’s nothing like the Mountain Top Knee Drop, but he doesn’t want to finish this as quick as most of his matches has fallen to- he wants to pick apart Justice, he wants to prove a point, he wants to send a message to Jason Justice. Frank falls back against the ropes and rebounds again, dropping the knee but Justice rolls out of the way! The People’s Dude is up to his feet- Palm Strike, Calf Kick, Palm Strike, Pump Kick to the jaw, and the Dropkick sends Frank outside of the ring! Justice rebounds off of the rope and catches Frank on the outside with the Baseball Slide Dropkick! Justice stands on the apron and looks over to Frank trying to get back to his feet and as he does, he’s met with Justice soaring through the air with a Cannonball! Justice wipes out Frank and he’s running around the ringside area, doing a full lap around the ring as he nails Frank with the Shotgun Dropkick into the barricades!
Justice can hear the referee’s count for both men on the outside as he tosses Frank back inside the ring, and the mat wrestling of Justice comes back into play with Justice looking to lock in the Justice Served submission but Frank rolls onto his back with Justice underneath, squashing him in the process as the referee allows the count to be made but Frank gets just a one count as Justice applies a Rear Naked Choke. Frank uses his foot to break the submission before both men could stand up and charge at one another but Justice was able to lift the knee up with the Jumping Knee and catch Frank right on the jaw before Justice is able to somehow power up the big man with To The Head [Brainbuster Fisherman Suplex] that spikes him into the mat, Jason hooks the leg and grabs a two count from it. Frank stumbles into the ropes trying to get back up to his feet as Justice comes in with the flying Forearm to the face- Big Boot takes down Justice and the whole match changes on a dime!
Frank Dylan James drags Justice to the corner of the ring, heading out to the apron and going all the way up to the top, looking for the Mountain Top Knee Drop but Justice is back up to his feet and quickly climbs to the top rope- Final Judgement [High Angled Uranage] all the way up from the top and right into the Justice Served [Twister] submission! Frank is struggling, he’s trapped and he’s got nowhere to go, he’s not even able to roll over onto Justice with his strength and Frank might be looking to tap out… he doesn’t! His foot touches the bottom rope and the submission is broken! Justice keeps the hold locked in until the referee drags Justice away from Frank and gives the warning to The People’s Dude, but as the referee gives that warning, Frank is back up and lands the second Big Boot to the face before guzzling at his throat and picking him up- West Virginia Spike [Choke Lift into a Thumb Spike]! Frank got all of it as he hooks the leg and Justice kicks out but the bell rings as well!
Both men are confused, wondering what had happened as the referee heads outside to find out, and that’s when everyone sees it on the screen- Justice kicked out from the West Virginia Spike a millisecond after the hand goes down and hits the mat. The People’s Dude cannot believe it, he feels robbed of the title as the new NLW Southern States Championship is handed to Frank Dylan James.
[WINNER: Frank Dylan James Via West Virginia Spike at 22:02]
NLW interviewer cautiously approaches a closed locker room door with a sign that says “The New South” prominently displayed.
Ross (to camerman): Ok, let’s see if I can get them to talk.
Kelly knocks on the door and waits. Getting no response after a moment, she knocks again, a bit harder.
Jolene opens the door slowly and stares at Kelly, daring her to speak first.
Ross: Jo-Jolene - just wanted to stop by to get that interview you promised earlier.
Jolene: Well, now that’s the thing Kelly. I never made a promise of an interview - just that you could stop by.
Ross: Well Jolene, we have fans who want to hear from the New South, they’re…
Kelly is cut off when the door swings wildly open. Waylon Kirk stands there holding a glass of bourbon and glares at Kelly.
Waylon: You’re looking for a quote?
Ross: Waylon Kirk! Yes, our fans would love to hear…
Waylon cuts her off again by shoving past her and throwing his glass against a nearby wall, startling Kelly. He glares at her again.
Waylon: I don’t give a damn what any fans want to hear, what the locker room wants to hear or what little Kelly Ross wants to hear. Clear?
Kelly nods as Waylon pushes past her in to the room, followed by Jolene. Beau Traywick walks to the door, holding a glass which he tips to Kelly and smiles before shutting the door.
A shaken up Kelly looks to camera.
Ross: Back to you Dan and Tommy.
MAIN EVENT - MATCH FIVE
NLW Heavyweight Championship Match
Maze (c) vs Gerhard Bishop vs Leon Chant
The NLW Heavyweight Championship is held up in the air as all three men stare up at the championship itself, they all want to be the champion, and with two challengers, Maze wants to cement himself as a true champion but he’s facing two men who’ve also been cementing themselves since arriving in Next Level Wrestling. The bell soon rings and right off of the bat goes Bishop and Chant with the forearms flying, punches going all over the place and they’re lucky using kicks is not a god damned option with their body shapes. Maze watches on and observes, or even The Prick is barking orders to stand back and let them rip one another apart, which they’re doing with immediate success. Bishop and Chant have spilled to the outside and are damning one another with heavy strikes, slamming one another’s heads into the ring apron, they’re beating up one another on the outside as Maze charges to the ropes and dives through the ropes with the Suicide Dive that takes down both Chant and Bishop. Maze picks up Bishop first and throws him into the barricade as Karl Hagen watches on, the same is done to Leon Chant as both Rob and Riley watch him being thrown into the barricades.
Maze finds himself with Chant inside the ring and their history brings them back to the Fatal Four Way before Homecoming, but Maze is smarter this time, throwing the punches when Chant is still on wobbly legs and throwing the kick into the abdomen. Maze falls back into the ropes and charges in BUT LEON POPS HIM UP- Hurricanrana! Maze was able to quickly turn things around so easily with the Hurricanrana and keep it at his advantage but Maze is stopped by the immovable force of Gerhard Bishop with some clubbing blows to the back, Maze tries to fight it off but Gerhard is having none of it, he drives down the Axe Handles down onto the spine of Maze before wrapping his arms around his waist and sends Maze flying with the Gutwrench Suplex as Maze rolls out of the ring. Chant is back up to his feet and once again, he goes right for Bishop as they clash, Leon with the advantage as he picks up the two hundred and ninety-five-pound man and hurls him over his head with an Exploder Suplex. Bishop quickly gets back to his feet but Chant was scouting him, grabbing him from behind and hooking the leg before dropping him back down on his neck with the Regalplex, Chant bridges but gets the referee just barely drops the hand at two when Gerhard kicks out.
Chant drags Bishop back up and looks for a second Regalplex but Bishop breaks free, using his elbow to knock down Chant and back him away, Bishop falls into the ropes and comes running towards Chant with the Big Boot and then looks behind him to see Maze re-enter the ring as Bishop strikes with the Running European Uppercut in the corner but Maze grabs the arm and slams Bishop down with the Arm Drag and then cranking the arm as he keeps Bishop down on the mat. Maze drags Bishop back up to his feet and drops him back down again with the Short Arm Clothesline. Chant gets back to his feet and is met with Medication Time [Mandible Claw] and the fingers are being pushed right down the throat of Leon Chant as he feels himself fading away from asphyxiation but Chant bites down on the fingers of Maze, who pulls away with the bite marks left in his fingers. Chant fires off with some slaps across the face and then a Roaring Elbow before following up with the Discus Lariat on the champion. Chant drops to his knees and looks to be falling down for the cover but Bishop is back in and grabs a hold of Chant, dropping him down on the point of his head with the Double Underhook Piledriver, Bishop goes for the cover on Chant but gets a two count.
Bishop drags Chant back up to his feet and looks to Arnold and Richards on the outside as he picks up Chant, bringing him down onto his knee with the Air Raid Neckbreaker and then the Air Raid Crash, dropping Chant back down on his neck as Bishop hooks the legs again but still gets a two count. Chant still fighting through it all as he drags himself to the ropes, trying his best to escape the clutches of Bishop but Hagen’s prospect grabs the arm of Chant and wraps it around the neck, choking him out as Chant struggles, his arm is swinging wildly as he attempts to break free by any means, Chant’s arm begins shaking as he feels himself fading away once again but Maze grabs the hand before Chant could tap out, Maze brings the fight to Bishop as he releases the hold on Chant. Maze is fighting for everything he has right now, making sure that he gets through this challenge for his championship, as he brings the fists to Bishop and just aiming to knock him out with every punch going right for his head. Maze grabs a hold of the arms of and drops Bishop with Just Hold Still [Double Arm DDT] right on the point of his head.
Chant is now back into the fight and targets Maze by pushing him to the ropes to set up for the Pop Up Powerbomb but Maze already knew what was going to happen, holding onto the ropes as soon as he could. Maze goes for the Chop Block to the front of Chant’s knee but Leon moves out of the way, leaping over Maze and rebounding off of the ropes with the Running Big Splash right down onto the back but Bishop is back up and he’s got the Cobra Clutch submission applied on Chant! He’s got Leon trapped in the Cobra Clutch and in the middle of the ring, Chant is struggling- his head is being wrenched back far and his back is bending in a way it shouldn’t. Chant might have to tap out, he might have to tap out and crown Gerhard Bishop the champion bit Maze rolls from underneath Chant and grabs Bishop in Medication Time, he’s got the Mandible Claw applied but Maze wastes no time as he hooks the arms and drops Bishop with Edge of Sanity [Spike Pedigree] as Maze hooks the leg, but Hagen pulls the referee from under the bottom rope, he wasn’t going to let his protege go down like that.
The referee is arguing with Hagen’s choice of actions as Maze almost goes out of the ring to chase down Hagen but Riley Richards takes matters into his own hands, sliding into the ring and launching himself over the ropes with a Tope Con Hilo onto Hagen, Arnold runs across the ring and gives Riley a good telling off as it continues to distract Maze but as soon as he turns around, he’s grabbed by the throat and Leon Chant pops him up and drops him down with the Pop Up Powerbomb! The referee slides back into the ring as Bishop slowly crawls over. Bishop leaps through the air and breaks up the pin but the referee counts three! The referee counts three and calls for the bell! We have a new NLW Heavyweight Champion!

Tommy West: If it wasn't for a certain pipsqueak flying over the ropes and distracting Maze, we wouldn't be in this situation.
Bishop rolls out of the ring, picking up Karl Hagen and helping him to the back as he looks back to see Leon Chant still celebrating until they lock eyes on one another, but Bishop just turns back and heads to the back with Hagen as we're left with the confetti flying down onto Chant, Arnold and Richards as the feed fades to black, leaving the final shot being The Academy in high hopes and the NLW Heavyweight Championship resting on the shoulder of the new champion, The Hired Gun - Leon Chant.
