“Once again, you are this close.”
As we open the scene to the basement gymnasium that belonged to Ryan Matthews, we watch and see Rebecca drenched in sweat and taking a breather as she is face to face with her brother, only standing a mere few inches away.
“You are this close to the NLW Heavyweight Championship, and it’s only your third match in this place. Your third match. They wouldn’t give you this opportunity for anything, they know how well you work and mesh with others. They’re aware of what you, as a person with your talent, can do in that ring.” A quick turn to face the camera. “But what she can do in that ring is what the two of you should be afraid of, though, I highly doubt you’d be taking her as much as a threat than I’d like to see. Times are tough, and although Gerhard Bishop was exited out of this match due to an injury he had taken, Rebecca sends her best regards. Me, however? Not buying it. There are better things to be worrying about.”
Ryan took a few steps away from Rebecca, who looks to be recovering from her long and eventful training session by sitting back and taking a couple of deep breaths.
“Maze. Mystique. Good to see you two. I’m aware that you, Mystique, have not been in this situation before but for you, Maze-- or even The Prick as you like to be known-- an entirely different story altogether. The former NLW Heavyweight Champion, the very first- if you will. That’s not something for me to knock on, that proves something good. You’re aware of how much a situation like this can drive someone, how much it can bring out the best in you, as you’ve done yourself before winning the title yourself at the last pay-per-view.”
Ryan shook his finger, a smile growing on his face.
“But in this scenario- things are far more different than they used to be.”
Chucking to himself. “The Prick, maybe I’ll just call you P from now on, okay? Okay, P. I’ve watched you from afar. I’ve watched you since your win at Homecoming, I’ve watched how you’ve risen from out of nowhere to then fall down in a blaze of glory like everything you ever worked hard on to make it to the very top was for nothing. These moments happen, but if you’re just going to sit there and tell me that the man who was there wasn’t actually yourself, P, then you’re straight-up lying to my face. Though, I understand that you don’t want to remember who you once were- the Maze that people liked and adored- not who you are today.”
“But for you, Mystique, things are different. This is your first time in the spotlight, and if you win, this’ll cement your place on this roster as if you haven’t done so already standing up to The Brute Squad on the last show… but that’s it, for you anyway. That’s all you have to defend yourself with, that’s all you’ve got within your resume for NLW.” Pointing down to the floor. “Here is where you get to truly make or break, and this is a big moment for you, but in our world- there’s nothing like that because the woman I have right behind me is one of the baddest bitches in the entire state of California right now. Nobody can compare. And in the ring with the likes of you two, she won’t miss a beat because she’s been watching and she’s been learning. She watched very closely on the last Ascendency show and she’s looking to tear each of you apart.”
“Like a young lion being fed some chewy meat, she’s going to tear through you two like it’s nothing.”
Rebecca stood up, still drenched in her own sweat as she walks past her brother to stand in front of him, staring directly into the camera before speaking.
“I know this isn’t no ordinary match, this is a Tables Elimination match- but the facts don’t change for a minute. I work hard and I play hard, you can see that in my reign as OWA Goddesses Champion, and you’ll definitely see that within my reign as NLW Heavyweight Champion. I don’t aim to win this match, I aim for the NLW Heavyweight Championship because it’s simple-- shoot for the stars, aim for the moon.”
Rebecca smiled as she turned her head to her brother and then back to the camera.
“And I’m on a collision course straight for that moon.”
Fade to black.
