Isabel Rios sits cross-legged on the floor of her home gym, drenched in sweat in a sports bra, shorts and sneakers, clearly just finished a strenuous workout. She takes a long drink from a water bottle before addressing the camera.
“Kirsty, I just want to assure you of something before our tag match on the 16th. I do not care in the least if you hurt either of the Dark Novas, not one bit. If those two end up going back to Shocker or Chaka Khan or whoever they pray to spittin’ chiclets or holding broken noses I won’t lose a wink of sleep. Hell, I’m here to help. I’ve got no love for either of these space-cases. As long as you don’t go over the line and get us DQ’d, you and I are gonna get along just fine.”
She pauses for another drink before continuing.
“As far as your feelings about the last time we were in the ring together, I get it. I know I’ve been on a hell of a roll since I came to the XHF, but it’s not like I haven’t had my moments of frustration. Knowing the effort you’ve put in, the work, and not getting the results because the other person’s getting their hands raised after the bell rings, I've been there and it sucks. And that’s why I believe you when you say you’re not looking to put a knife in my back, because that’s not gonna get you a win. So cheers to that.”
Isabel raises her bottle of water to the camera as if for a toast.
“As far as the Dark Novas, I’m pretty sure I’ve made my feelings clear towards the two of you. I’ve got no use for either of you. Sure, you’re big and strong but let me be absolutely clear: if Kirsty McKinney doesn’t end you two I just might. I have no respect for you, no regard for your wellbeing at all. If you don’t like it, go hop back in your flying saucer and send it straight up Uranus.”
Isabel smiles a little before continuing.
“And just a heads up for Nicole Anderson. I know you’re not the one picking your opponents, so I’m not gonna act like you’re ducking me by facing the likes of Dangerous Donna and April Hamill before I get the title shot I earned back at No Man’s Land. But, and I say this as respectfully as possible, every match you’ve got between now and when I finally get my shot at the gold? I’ll be watching, studying, prepping for when the time comes. Just like Kirsty assured me, I’m gonna assure you: no backstabbing, no cheap shots, nothing like that. But with every day that passes I’m just getting more and more ready for my shot at the gold.”
Isabel stands, stretching a little with a grin on her face.
“I hope you’re the one still holding that Amazons belt when my shot comes, I won’t lie. You and me, two technically gifted, tough as nails athletes going toe to toe for championship glory? Tell me that doesn’t sound like a good time.”
Isabel turns and leaves the gym as the shot fades out.
