Do any of you still play? I found there's a community online that still makes updates for both EWR and TEW so when I get the itch I'm able to play with up-to-date stats and rosters.
A couple months ago I played as Lucha Underground, but focused the show around high-flying lucha action. So there were high-flyers and fun masked wrestlers. And gangs; my Lucha had gangs since that seems to be how they do stuff. But...they were lucha gangs. So we had three gangs based on tigers (tiger mask, black tiger, El Tigre, etc), a dragon gang (Ultimo, Black, Dragan Makabe, etc), a skeleton gang (La Parka, Super Parkita, Crossbones, ect), and a clown gang (doinks, ICP, Murder Clown etc). There were two titles, the world title (unchanged) and then I turned the gift of the gods championship into a hardcore title. I was able to tie WWE at 100% global (which I didn't think was possible with the game's mechanics). But it wasn't just a tie, I won. Vince and Shane both retired and became staff members (Vince a really good announcer) so I hired them. So I had more McMahons than WWE. AND, after reaching 100%, WWE offered me a job, I took a screen shot so I'll never forget the day Lucha Underground beat WWE.
Just a couple days ago I decided to see if I could fix TNA. I'm totally changing it to a "legit style" company with some flair added (because my boss likes characters). So weekly show matches are submission matches and PPV matches are I Quit matches. To help legitimize the company I hired Kurt Angle (Technical ability is still in the 80's). He's a non wrestler but works commentary on every show and he's the champ (I only have championship matches on the PPVs anyway). Hiroshi Tanahashi is more over than Angle, but I'm about to hit a 2-month stretch where he'll be in Japan (NJPW takes half my roster, lol) so I just kept it on Angle.
But here's something that's weird. In all the years I've played EWR on and off I've always been fired by Chikara. I don't understand it either. I build the company the way the owner wants and turn it into a profitable venture. Yet as soon as I hit a snag in National, BAM! Fired. Only with Chikara. I've had bigger problems with other companies but the owners give me a pass and let me straighten things out. But not Chikara; always fired from Chikara.
How about you? Still dust off EWR now and then? Any good stories/memories from your times playing?
