“Momentum. Call it the word of the day.”
We open on Joseph Mack, walking along the streets of Montreal on a beautiful, sunny early spring day.
“There’s a tournament coming up, right? Openweight title, sounds like a good fit for me. Three belts in NPW including that one, and only two I can challenge for. And hey, look at Dominicus, that’s proof right there a man can hold two. And I sure as shit ain’t getting myself down to cruiserweight status to go for that belt.”
Mack pauses at a crosswalk, adjusting his mask slightly before continuing to stroll along as the light changes.
“But that’s not my next upcoming challenge. On the horizon absolutely, but before that I’ve got a triple threat against Gaz Maybury and ‘The Man of a Million Monikers’ Jonnie Valentine. Whole lotta beef in the ring right there, I tell you. Not beef like heat, I got no problem with Valentine and I don’t think I’ve even met Gaz. Just talking like-”
Mack pulls back from the camera a little to flex a bicep under the thick fabric of his hoodie.
“Y’know, beef. Anyway, I’ve been on a bit of a roll lately. Me and KUMA beat the Shooter’s Club, me and Dominicus and Timeless beat Dane and the Syndicate, no complaints here. But that was tag team action and while I’m happy to get in the ring and put in work in whatever situation Gus Arnold decides he wants to see me compete in, I am, first and foremost, a singles wrestler. Sure, opportunities come up and I might take ‘em, wherever they may be, but right now the focus is on me standing in my own spotlight.”
Mack turns a corner, walking parallel to the St Lawrence river now.
“So I’m looking at this triple threat as a chance to build some big momentum before it’s time to attack that Openweight title. I beat these two men, Gaz and Valentine, I roll into that tournament on a nice solid winning streak and I just keep streaking all the way to the gold.”
Mack pauses, turning with his back to the water, looking into the camera.
“Jonnie, Gaz, see you on the 30th. I’m happy to shake both your hands beforehand, but I’ll be having mine raised when we’re done.”
