Yo guys. It's Rumble season and I think this would be a fun chat.
So let's post sone summary info:
Rumble: - 50 to 75 Entrants - Only one winner. - once a year. - anyone can enter - no promo limits. No word countlimits. - Style is one long over the rope elimination. - the prize is the X*Crown Championship.
Fired Up: - Usually about 32 entranrs. - 0nly one winner. - once a year. - anyone can enter. Approximately 75% are AWFers. - 3x 2k limits. - Style is tag elimination. Final match are the tag partners. Stemming over multiple matches. - Prize is Prestige Championship
I have some deep thoughts to why I think it's close and I'd probably explain more tomorrow but it boils down to different things appeal to different people but not everyone likes both. I feel the numbers of serious contender is probably approximately the same in both.

I feel the rumble is harder to win, simply based on the writing limits. You could put out the same amount of writing as you would for Fired Up, maybe 6k worth of writing but then get absolutely pantsed by someone else who does 10 RPs.
I know it's quality over quantity, but if someone goes that extra mile, chances are they are in favour. I wish I was wrong but 10k words of an amazing story will beat 6k words of a similar story, mainly as there is more room for competitive writing and story/ arc building.

Alright, so there's a reason that I ask this question. A huge factor that comes into mind is essentially who's attracted to these events. There are a ton of people who would rather not do the Rumble because of the lack of limits. And sometimes the lack of limits can be limiting. So let's say Hyperion is in the Fired Up tournament (which he HAS been AND won. ), I only have three promos and 2k words to come up with something that comes close with what you have. That's not easy. If I had the Rumble, I could try to out-RP you, but that would be easier in the Rumble than the tournament.

Yeah, a lot of it hinges on one's perception of limits. Some people see it as an equalizer, but it can also limit the content you can do. When I did the heist rp with LD, I honestly could have used a higher limit like 2k to do everything I wanted to but I had to condense that to 1k, lol.
So if you're wanting to tell a larger story or have a cool idea that might take more words- then the Rumble actually could be easier. But I think Hype brings up a solid point where if everyone is clocking 2k it's a lot harder to gauge effort. If you come in for the Rumble and you REALLY want it, that's gonna show- assuming you're dropping quality in the process. If you can work on that level it might be easier to grab the Crown rather than win Fired Up vs a bunch of people putting out equal material that may or may not be less hobbled than your work

It is an interesting debate but I'm more tempted to pull the scope wider and suggest End Of Days, or at least at it to the debtae.
Fired Up: 6k, needs to be solid quality over three rps, top 10% of rp'ers in it will be very strong
Rumble: Clusterfuck, BUT overall quality probably drops because of it. As Kuroi alluded to, top tier talent perhaps gives it a miss in order to charge batteries or avoid burnout, so maybe top 5% very strong (maybe less because of the inflated numbers)...maybe I'm being too harsh?
End of Days: 4 matches, all 2 x 2500, so the top four will do 20k words across the tournament which comes pretty thick and fast, usually half of the people entering are going to making strong efforts.
Let's be clear, they're all freaking hard to win, but to a certain extent if you bring the right sort of planning and good material you can win any of them. I'm just honoured to have won one.
If I had to pick? In theory it's still the Rumble, but some years are tougher than others.

End of Days is singles matches and a bad draw can doom you but a good bit of luck and someone like me can win it.
Fired up and the rumble are similar beasts and I'd be inclined to say the rumblein the OLD days was harder (70 peeps usually and everyone did a million RPs and quantity mattered more than now). Fired Up is a set limit while the unlimited nature of the rumble means you can do different styles of stories. I think thye both have their merits and difficulties.
