Next Level Wrestling Presents
ASCENDENCY XII
LIVE from the Avron B Fogelman Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana
Saturday, April 3rd, 2021
The opening riffs of "Obey" by Bring Me The Horizon and YUNGBLUD echoes throughout the arena as the fans begin to cheer loudly. The camera focuses on the announce team of Dan Simmons and Tommy West.
Dan Simmons: Ladies and gentlemen, Saturday night means only one thing, we're live once again for Ascendancy! A big welcome to all of you watching at home from myself and my partner, Tommy West!
Tommy West: Thanks Simmo! We're gonna see some action tonight folks, our main event will be slugged out by two guys who love to fight, Nathan Parker defends his Southern States title against David Goon.
Dan Simmons: We know Ricardo will be at ringside, how much of a distraction will he cause? Parker will need his wits about him to keep the gold in his hands! But there's plenty more action than that folks! We have an intriguing match, Eli Dresden will team with The Academy, just two weeks before she faces off one of her partners in Leon Chant for the Heavyweight title! They join forces to face the equally dangerous and equally intriguing combination of Joe Blow and The New South!
Tommy West: Strange bedfellows and all that! We've got singles action between Al Jabroni and Tommy Kelly, as well as El Rey taking on Big Bone!
Dan Simmons: But first, we have Joshua Darkwood teaming with two debutants in SHIVANI and Finn Whelan, they're going up against Mystique, who came so close in beating Leon Chant, and she teams with newcomers Graham Baker and Wellington Dunne!
Tommy West: I can't wait for this one, SHIVANI, Whelan and Baker all come with solid repuations, and XHF fans know all about Dunne, a former AXW and AWF member, I just have no idea how some of these guys and girls get along!
Dan Simmons: I'm not sure they will partner, if I'm being totally honest! Don't go anywhere, they're on their way out right now!
MATCH ONE
Joshua Darkwood, SHIVANI, and Finn Whelan vs Mystique, Graham Baker, and Wellington Dunne
The match begins with SHIVANI and Wellington Dunne standing inside of the ring, staring one another down as they both circle around the ring before both meeting in the middle of the ring with a Collar and Elbow Tie Up as the sheer weight and height from Dunne compared to SHIVANI overpowers her and he’s able to push her into the ropes, the referee counting up to four before Dunne releases and takes a few steps back. Dunne lands a kick right into the gut of SHIVANI as she stays back against the ropes, bent over after the kick lands, and the referee pushes Dunne back further away from SHIVANI but she fires off a Roundhouse Kick to the side of Dunne’s head to knock him down. SHIVANI looks to be back in control again and being able to tame the Glasgow Bull early on in this contest as she charges in looking for the Running Knee Strike but Dunne picks her up with ease for the Back Suplex Lift and drops her down onto his knee. Dunne brings SHIVANI back up to her feet again and hoists her up into the air in the Powerbomb position and drops her back down onto his knee. Dunne is going in with the back breaking moves that are just tearing apart SHIVANI here as he backs himself into the corner and charges in with a Lariat- but SHIVANI counters and ducks the arm into the Neckbreaker!
SHIVANI with the quick counter gives her the opening that she needs to tag out but Dunne is back into this, hoisting her up and dropping her back down with the German Suplex with the bridge for the pinfall -- which only gets a two count on SHIVANI, the scotsman is fired up- as he should be right now because he is manhandling SHIVANI right in front of everyone, but The Siren is able to fire off some kicks and then the roll up release into a Charging European Uppercut! SHIVANI with the smart thinking to knock down Wellington Dunne with ease from the European Uppercut as she turns to her partners as they’re reaching out-- well, maybe Darkwood more than Whelan but nonetheless, it’s Darkwood that’s tagged in by SHIVANI and he goes right to work on Dunne, bringing him up to his feet and up into the air to slam him back down with the Falcon’s Arrow. Darkwood is like a wrecking ball in the ring as he goes into the opponent’s corner and knocks off both Baker and Mystique, before turning around and being met with the massive Discus Lariat from Dunne!
Dunne makes the move over to his corner to tag out but there’s nobody on the apron as Darkwood comes from behind- Dunne with the Back Elbow as he leaps to the second rope and springboards off for the Cutter but is caught by Darkwood and turned around for the Wolf’s Bane-- but even that is countered into a Suplex Lift into an Emerald Flowsion, dropping Darkwood onto his neck! Dunne finally makes his way over and tags in Graham Baker and the Gaijin Kaiju storms in on Darkwood, absolutely mauling away at the Dark Wolf as he just crushes his sternum under all of those Lariats in the corner and then Irish Whipping him across the ring, Baker charges in and connects the Splash, grabbing onto Darkwood and dropping him down with the Outside Leg Hooked Fisherman’s Driver! Baker goes for the cover but Whelan gives Baker a kick on the side of the head and The Corsair King isn’t too pleased with that bit of offense from The Seattle Saint.
“Tag him in, bitch boy.” says Baker as he throws Darkwood over to the corner and just like that -- It’s Finn Whelan versus Graham Baker! Finn having to look down onto Graham as they both stare eye to eye with one another, and with it being Finn’s first time in the ring since his injury last year, these two are going to clash with one another-- and they do! Both men throwing the lefts and the rights and they’re going to kill each other before anyone else could ever try to break them apart! Mystique charges in and tries to bring the fight to Whelan and pushes Baker out of the way, trying to get her hands on Whelan for his choice of words spoken in her direction earlier in the week. Baker is already looking to take off Finn’s head but with Mystique trying to get involved, he’s visibly confused by Mystique bringing a fight to their challengers like so. SHIVANI finds herself back in the ring and Baker throws her over the ropes with a Back Body Drop to the outside! Darkwood comes back inside the ring… Bastard Surprise [Bicycle Big Boot] to the head of the Dark Wolf and now he’s going to push him back and preparing for the finishing touches on Darkwood, but Mystique backs herself away from Whelan in the corner, crouched down and ready for something to happen as Baker rebounds off of the ropes… HALF! LIFE! BOMBER! [Pumping Bomber Lariat] TO MYSTIQUE!
Graham Baker just turned his own tag partner inside out with the Lariat and the SSW Tag Team Champion makes his way out of the ring, he’s walking to the back and Dunne is following him-- Baker turned around and caught Dunne on the jaw with a Knockout Punch! Whelan shakes off in the corner and notices a slumped over Mystique as he picks her up and into Revelation 6:4 [Pumphandle Flatliner] and into the one… two… and the three!
[WINNER: Joshua Darkwood, SHIVANI, and Finn Whelan Via Revelation 6:4 at 16:23]
We cut to the office of NLW General Manager, BB Gunn, who is sat at his desk in a pretty lounged position, so much so that his feet are on the desk.
BB Gunn: Ladies and gents, would you believe it’s been six weeks since Masquerade? Six weeks! Felt like only last week if I’m totally honest with you! We’ve had the X*Crown Title change hands since then, right in this very arena!! We’ve also had exciting prospects joining our ranks, but here we are, suddenly into April. For NLW, April signals the beginning of a late spring and full summer that’s going to live on in everybody’s memories. Why do I say that? Well your boy’s been planning out a few special treats!
He holds his arms out, comfort never looked so cool.
BB Gunn: First of all, after the XHF Rumble we will be holding Open Fight Night II! That’s right, anybody can challenge anybody, it’ll be mayhem, it’ll be awesome…it’ll be Next Level.
He smirks.
BB Gunn: But what else? Well, you already know that in two weeks’ time, Eli Dresden will get her one on one shot with Leon Chant for the NLW Heavyweight Title. Well whoever comes out on top will next defend that title at our next big event…
Gunn pulls his feet from the table and stands up, behind his chair is a small cord, which Gunn stands to the right off and grips, with a broad smile he pulls the cord to reveal a banner.
BB Gunn: May 29th, NLW Hostile Intent. The NLW Heavyweight Champion will defend that in a Cage Match, against who? You’ll soon find out. The Southern States title will also be on the line against multiple competitors. Ladies and gents believe me when I say that the action will match the intent, it won’t be for the light hearted.
Gun’s smile looks a bit sinister but only briefly, quite quickly he returns to his more jovial self.
BB Gunn: That’s just what we have planned for the month of May, what about the summer? Well you’ll have to tune into Open Fight Night to hear all about it. One thing I can and will tell you, it’ll have the entire XHF Network standing up and taking note.
He smiles again.
BB Gunn: As always Next Level Wrestling, I gotcha covered.
MATCH TWO
Al Jabroni vs Tommy Kelly
The bell rings and Jabroni walks up to Kelly with a hand outstretched and a wide smile on his face, despite the fact that he is clearly outmatched, giving up over fifty pounds and the top of his head coming just about to Kelly’s narrowed eyes. The Stormcrow looks at the hand, then at Jabroni’s face. Then he drops his own face into Jabroni’s face with a savage headbutt. Jabroni staggers back, so Kelly chases after him. He nails Jabroni with several punches that push him against the ropes, and just as it seems Jabroni might careen backwards over them, Kelly grabs his arm and yanks him in an Irish Whip against the ropes, charging as Jabroni hits the ropes to meet him in the middle of the ring with a big spinning back elbow! Jabroni collapses under the force of the strike, landing in a heap. Kelly kicks him over onto his back, then stomps him hard in the stomach, making Jabroni sit up reflexively, clutching his stomach. Kelly takes the opening to do a low dropkick that would normally hit a knee but this time blasts Jabroni in the chin. The Stormcrow then slips through the ropes and starts climbing the turnbuckles, and as soon as he’s roosted, he dives off the top rope on Jabroni just as he’s starting to try and get up again, only to get driven back into the canvas with the Nevermore elbow drop! Kelly assumes a lateral press, grabbing Jabroni’s leg to hook it assertively, but Jabroni manages to get a shoulder up weakly before the third count, making Kelly’s already worried brow furrow further.
Kelly pulls Jabroni up roughly, intending to keep the pain coming, but as he goes to grab him for something nasty, Jabroni points over his shoulder, fear painted on his face. Kelly furrows his brow, but the slight hesitation is enough for Jabroni to stomp Kelly’s foot, causing him to flinch and release Jabroni who staggers back. He then pulls his shoulders back, and as Kelly turns back to him, he starts winding his right arm around and around. As Kelly’s looking there, though, the left hand jabs in and catches Kelly right in the eyes! The Stormcrow grunts as he recoils. Jabroni’s eyes go wide as he senses an opportunity, as Kelly starts turning slowly as he tries to regain his sight. Jabroni rushes over and grabs Kelly by the waist, trying to Get Lucky with a Schoolboy Roll-Up, but Kelly is too close to the ropes and grabs onto the top rope as soon as he feels Jabroni’s attack. Jabroni tries to push him further against the ropes and pull back with the extra bounce of the ropes, but it doesn’t work out the way he’d hoped, and he winds up just rolling by himself while Kelly stays on the ropes.
Kelly turns around to face him slowly, and Jabroni yelps, trying to duck out of the ring, but he’s not fast enough, getting caught on the bottom rope, and Kelly catches him by the wrist there before yanking him roughly back into the ring. Jabroni panics, then on instinct, he twists out of the grip and gets Kelly into a hammerlock! Jabroni grins, cranking the hammerlock as he thinks he’s got Kelly stuck, but Kelly does a well-rehearsed reversal, winding up behind Jabroni. He drops the hammerlock, grabs him by the neck and thigh, lifting him up and twirling him upside down before dropping him in a lethal piledriver, Death Becomes You rattling the ring! This time Jabroni is absolutely motionless as Kelly flips him into position, hooking the far leg with authority, and waiting patiently for the official to count to three.
[WINNER: Tommy Kelly Via Death Becomes You at 08:25]
The feed brings us to inside of the backstage area of Avron B Fogelman Arena where we’re met with Kelly Ross and sitting right in front of her with the denim jeans, white turtleneck, black sunshades and gold chain - it’s Kai D Oh. The Dragon God sits there with a confident smile to his face, his eyes being covered from his shades but you could tell, there was a confident look in his eye behind those shades.
Kelly Ross: Great to be able to sit down and talk with you, Kai.
Kai D Oh: Quite frankly, it’s an honor. I’ve been able to sit down here and enjoy my bottle of Sake, wine and dine in the great food palaces of New Orleans, and just watch the carnage wreak havoc all over Next Level Wrestling.
Kai drank from the closest bottle of Sake he had near him.
Kelly Ross: And speaking of “wreaking havoc”, Kai- You debuted inside of NLW by not only targeting The Prick but also “The StormCrow” Tommy Kelly. What brought you to attack those two that night?
Kai first answered the question with a bellowed laugh before answering with his words.
Kai D Oh: For me? It’s simple, Kelly. When you’re someone like myself, you thrive to take on the absolute beasts that overlook the valleys and you have to see that both of them had some value to their names, and when it came down to it, if taking them down was easy then what could I have done to just about anybody right now? My path to the largest war of them all was seemingly met with a quick shortcut and two moderately weak men. ‘Twas nothing more than just a shame that they suffered different fates - if I had the chance, I would have ended that crow’s legacy right where he stood. Smart enough for him to roll away before I could unleash an unmerciful wrath of the gods onto him quite like what I did with The Prick boy.
Kelly nodded her head.
Kelly Ross: And if there ever is the chance to finish what you had started with Tommy Kelly-
Kai D Oh: OF COURSE! I leave no man unharmed when it comes to battling in the great wars! They all suffer the same fate as the many that have fallen before them, just look around you and see my path of destruction. Take a look at the Prick boy, and then to the Nyan catgirl, although Crow might have walked away unscathed from it all - that doesn’t mean that I am not watching with a keen eye on him. High alert for you, Crow! WORORORORORO!
Kelly Ross: ...tell me- what is that chant you do?
Kai D Oh: Chant?! CHANT?! That is the call of MY PEOPLE! WORORORORORO! See?! That is a call upon those that sends a message to oncoming prey that THE DRAGON GOD is amongst them.
Soon, a chimp with a jacket on him comes into the shot. The name tag on the jacket reads “BENNY” as he climbs onto the shoulder of Kai.
Kai D Oh: My good chimp, Benny! Normally, he’s kept on a leash but in instances like this, he can behave whenever he wants to and I let him be the free chimp that he is.
Kelly nods slowly and just soaks in all of the information she’s receiving.
Kelly Ross: I guess we can wrap this up with one final question of what do you intend on actually bringing to NLW?
Kai lowers his head and the bottle of Sake he drank from, staring down at Kelly,
Kai D Oh: Really… you’re going to ask ME of all PEOPLE what I actually INTEND on bringing to this place? WOMEN LIKE YOU BELONG BACK INTO MY KITCHEN! YOU FEMOID! GET OUT OF HERE! WORORORORORO!
Benny The Chimp gives chase to Kelly Ross, leading her out of the room as it just stands there to be Kai D Oh and the cameraman recording the interview.
Kai D Oh: Listen here, you ape. Point that thing at me and let me speak to my people. What is your name?
Cameraman: R- reyhan.
Kai D Oh: What a fucking meathead name. Point that thing to me, Reyhan. NOW!
The cameraman obliges and points the lens right into the face of Kai.
Kai D Oh: Today, I have been made to be a fool by these weak heathens who know NOTHING of what I can and cannot do. Next Level Wrestling, I come to you and tell you that these absolute heathens that you bring forth to my feet without even having them bow before me- RUDE OF THEM TO NOT KNEEL BEFORE A DRAGON GOD! Intentions or no intentions. The Great War against the beasts that roam this land second to none, but they’re no match for the likes of me, and I’ve got some crow to catch but for now- if the timing is right then soon, you’ll see myself holding some championship gold around my waist. I AM KAI D OH! I AM A DRAGON GOD! I won’t let these southern redneck crackers stop me from getting in my way. I am unstoppable, I am the oncoming storm that’ll BRING FORTH THE END OF THIS GREAT WAR! BELIEVE MY WORDS AS GOSPEL! I AM LORD KAI D OH! I AM A GOD! WORORORORORO!
Soon, Reyhan the Cameraman runs away from the room, also being chased by Benny The Chimp and the feed cuts back to the arena.
MATCH THREE
El Rey vs Big Bone
El Rey knows full well that strutting down to the ring with another luchador's mask on has a pretty high chance of getting under Big Bone's skin, but it becomes clear early on that ER has grossly underestimated not only just how deep under Esqueleto de Gran Fiesta's dermis such gets... but how much harder Big Bone winds up hitting as an end result. As a matter of fact, the moment the bell rings? Big Bone is on El Rey like a rabid monkey on a rookie scientist trying to draw a blood sample, Mono Despiadado hopping and screaming in blatant delight as he finally gets to see his client take a step closer to the dark side. For his part, El Rey is trying to cover up from the veritable maelstrom of pummeling blows coming his way, the younger competitor driven into the ropes to force the break merely by circumstance. Backing up just enough to keep himself from being disqualified, Big Bone is quick to go back on the offensive--but El Rey is quicker, darting behind the large luchador to drill kicks into Big Bone's sides. The offensive tide shifts decidedly in El Rey's direction after a particularly stiff strike sends the stunned luchador into the corner, El Rey moving with lightning speed to the opposing corner before nailing a Stinger splash!
The pinfall attempt that follows has Big Bone kicking out just before the two-count, something which makes El Rey smirk. Of course Esqueleto de Gran Fiesta isn't going to go down easily, but such doesn't stop the next pinfall attempt, or the next, or the next... or the next, each forcing Big Bone to expend more energy with the added bonus of further messing with the luchador's mind. By the time that El Rey sits back on his heels and smirks at his opponent, both Big Bone and Mono Despiadado are spitting mad, the latter howling for El Rey's blood. Of course, El Rey finds this terribly amusing as he gets to his feet, wagging his finger at the luchador as he condescendingly tells him to just calm down--but then it's Big Bone's turn to display his quickness, that finger snagged and snapped, the Wishbone making the crowd cheer as El Rey cries out in pain! From there, Big Bone is quick to press the advantage, all but springing to a vertical base before sending El Rey into the ropes, the smaller man caught in a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on his rebound. It's now ER's turn to have to kick out, the damage to his back plus Big Bone's hundred or so pound advantage making it close to a three count!
Now that El Rey's got a reason to be pissed off, it's clear that the young upstart has ill intentions the moment that he gets to his feet, a series of rapidfire strikes connecting with Big Bone's head and body with all the force he can muster. Once ER has beaten his opponent back into the corner, that stunning speed is once again displayed in how he quickly darts onto the top turnbuckle behind the stunned luchador before El Rey connects with Sliced Bread! Big Bone collapses to the mat to a chorus of jeers as El Rey hooks the leg, but before the referee can so much as count to one, the crowd's reaction shifts from boos to cheers! Noticing the change in the fans, El Rey looks up... and standing at the top of the ramp is none other than the man he robbed a month ago! Nate Pierce is the first to open verbal fire, El Rey's pride and inexperience both making him bolt to his feet, his opponent all but forgotten in the face of being insulted by a man he views to be beneath himself. While El Rey may have let Big Bone slip his mind, however, it quickly becomes clear that turning his back on Esqueleto de Gran Fiesta is a huge mistake since not even thirty seconds later? Big Bone is back on his feet, the crowd's cheering at Nate Pierce giving El Rey one Hell of a tongue-lashing disguising the fact that Big Bone is approaching his opponent until it's too late. One moment, El Rey is insulting Nate Pierce's mother in rather childish yet effective fashion... and the next? He's being taken up, then dropped viciously as Rattlin' Bones connects with gusto! A three-count later and not only does Big Bone leave the match the victor, but Nate Pierce also gets a little bit of revenge.
[WINNER: Big Bone Via Rattlin' Bones at 14:41]
Marty Watts is in the ring, mic in hand.
Marty Watts: Ladies and gentlemen, this next tag team match scheduled for one fall…
Before Marty can finish, he’s cut off by “Jolene” by The White Stripes. Marty pauses and rolls his eyes, looking to the entry way. Jolene, manager of the New South appears on stage in black slacks and an ivory blouse. She walks down to the ring and grabs the mic from a visibly irritated Marty.
Jolene: You know the drill Martin, out of the ring.
Jolene shoos Marty out of the ring as the crowd boos her. She smiles at them.
Jolene (to the crowd): Please show some respect for the best tag team in NLW. Please shut your mouths and rise to your feet for YOUR NLW tag team champions, Beau Traywick and Waylon Kirk, the New South!
The crowd’s boos get even louder as the New South walk out to their theme song, fake tag titles around their waists. Beau Traywick holds a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle high above his head and Waylon Kirk has a grease stained brown paper bag. They get to the ring and climb in, holding up their bribes for Joe Blow.
Jolene: Joe Blow, as promised. One bottle of Pappy Van Winkle family reserve and an added bonus to stay out of our way, ribs from the best barbecue joint in New Orleans. Admittedly, it doesn’t hold a candle to Eastern Carolina style barbecue but it should keep you sufficiently busy.
The New South set the drink and food down in their corner of the ring.
MATCH FOUR
Eli Dresden and The Academy (Leon Chant and Riley Richards) vs Joe Blow and The New South (Waylon Kirk and Beau Traywick)
Big Leon Chant starts off the match for his team, showing up against Waylon Kirk of The New South. He goes for a test of strength, something Kirk knows damn well he ain't gonna win. But he obliges. He reaches one hand forward, locking with the NLW Heavyweight Champ. Leon puts his other hand out, waggling his fingers a tad to lure Waylon into the trap. Waylon locks up, and Leon's quick to power him into a neutral corner. Kirk tries to shimmy away, sneak in something dirty but Leon's quick to back up and break up the hold. It's almost like he's toying with prey. Waylon goes in for some fast strikes - if he can't be stronger, he'll sure as shit be faster. He makes quick work of Leon, taking out his leg before he can think to strategize. Leon rolls away, and Waylon follows suit. He runs for a senton, but Leon gets a knee up and just thrusts it right into the small of Kirk's back, and Kirk rolls to the ropes.
It's Leon's turn to put some offense on the New South and he charges, clubbing both Beau and Joe Blow off the apron, so Kirk has no escape. Leon turns back and catches a sneaky punch from the young Kirk. A headbutt and some chops are returned. Woo! Kirk tries to stumble forward with a wild lariat, but Leon takes it like a man, stumbling into the ropes before catching Kirk. Overhead Belly-to-Belly! Kirk is laid out on the mat as the crowd is firmly behind the NLW Heavyweight Champ. He splashes down on the tag team specialist before Riley reaches out for a tag. Leon shakes his head, "Not yet" he mouths, and Kirk blindsides him with a forearm!
Kirk drags Chant to his corner, tags in Beau, they begin those New Day corner stomps. Tag, and a few stomps. Joe Blow even gets in on the fun, just by smelling bad and making everyone in that corner be repulsed. Beau pushes Leon out into the ring, lifting him in a sit out piledriver spot. Going for the BBQ, it could be over right now! No, Leon tumbles over, he somersaults and tags in big Riley Richards!
Riley runs in, he grabs Beau and dropkicks him across the ring! He bounces the ropes and delivers a hurricanrana to a kneeling Beau, spiking him into the mat! Riley begins to play with the crowd, getting a conflicting "LE-ON CHANT/EL-EE DRES-DEN" chant going. The "CHANT" chants begin to drown out the chants for Eli, who pouts and makes a thumbs down. Riley suddenly gets picked up in a suplex! Beau drives a knee into Riley and climbs the ropes to work the crowd. "NEW... SOUTH ROCKS! NEW... SOUTH ROCKS!" He gets a decent chant going, turning around to face Riley, who's kind of stirring? He jumps for a moonsault … RILEY DROPKICKS HIM MID-AIR! HE FEIGNED HIM, HOOK LINE AND SINKER!
Both men are out on the mat, neither is quite in shape to get back up for a bit to move. Riley just scoots away, holding his knees. In pain, Beau crawls over, to reach out for his partner Kirk. But Kirk's not there, the only person in proximity is Joe Blow. Beau jumps up and gets a hot tag on Joe Blow! The crowd goes wild! Joe just makes that shocked Pikachu face and shakes his head, hopping off the apron. He tries to exit but finds Leon blocking his way. He shows off his gift to gab, threatening Leon if he doesn't get TF out of his way! But Riley taps him on the shoulder, Joe turns around! Riley grabs him like a cat by the scruff of his neck and rolls him back into the ring.
Joe Blow is quick to hide behind the ref, not wanting to get in the middle of these wrestling bollocks. Riley marches towards him and nearly gets smacked with the ref for his efforts. With the ref distracted, Joe Blow makes a questionably low kick to the anger of the crowd, they boo the shit out of him. A few stomps to displace Riley, who's wishing it was Eli instead torturing his family jewels. Joe laughs and kicks dirt in Riley's face, but then sits in his corner making the dominithink face.
That's when he gets an idea. A horrid, disgusting idea. Joe reaches into his pants, he's gonna go for the stink face on young Riley! He really gets a good few strokes in, before he leans on the ropes, hand still in pants mind you, to argue with the fans. He turns back to see Riley absolutely mortified that a man would even consider doing this! He spins around and tags Eli, much to her disgust and dismay.
Joe sneers and jeers at her, reaching out to imitate Leon with a test of strength. Reaches with his junk hand. Eli says "Nah, eff that" and slides between his legs and kips up, before dropkicking him out of his pants! Not literally, thank god. But she's quick to follow up with a flurry of offense. Joe's struggling to keep up and is getting squished like a bug. She flips her hair back, and Joe kicks her leg away! He gets a few punches and stomps off before trying a pin fall. Only a 1-count on the #1 contender.
She delivers a swift roundhouse to the head of Joe Blow, knocking his ass to the mat with authority. Dresden winks at Leon, who just deadpan stares at her. Joe tries to get a sneaky rollup from behind, but Eli's quick to kick out and run the ropes. BAM! The OMFN! Joe gets dropped on his head and Eli rolls over, hooking both legs for a strong 3-count, staring at her teammates the whole time.
[WINNER: The Academy (Riley Richards and Leon Chant) and Eli Dresden via The OMFN at 10:06]
The feed opens up to Inglewood, California.
Omega Wrestling Alliance is holding their final season’s event called Final Destination, throughout the night and even during the day, she’s been hesitant of what could be her final moments as the OWA Goddesses Champion… and then-
“Rebecca just tossed a brass knuckle out to the crowd!”
The only words heard through the commentary booth as clips of Hana Nakajima are seen collapsing to the mat after one swift punch down to the ground. Soon, we then cut to a phone recording of inside the hotel room that Rebecca is spending the night in, and the OWA Goddesses Championship resting on her shoulder as she sits in front of her camera - sitting down on a chair and letting out a sigh of relief. Rebecca keeps a smile on her face as she looks down at her championship resting on his shoulder.
Rebecca Brookes: You know, they say life’s greatest moments come from the moments they make by themselves. I went out there tonight, I made my moment matter- gave my old friend a piece of her medicine and in the end, I continued my reign as OWA Goddesses Champion for another long time- until the next time she’s defended.
She takes a deep breath. Sharp exhale out from her nostrils.
Rebecca Brookes: But the focus isn’t on OWA right now, it’s all about Next Level Wrestling and to be honest with you, as much as I’ve been reeling in the success over here in OWA- I cannot say the same for NLW. I wish sometimes it wasn’t like that but at the end of the day, I cannot begin to even think about how my run and my tenure in NLW hasn’t been the best of rides. The road’s been bumpy- so to speak- and with things in the past… I’ve got to come up with other ways as to where I should be heading for from here on out.
Rebecca holds the championship from her shoulder out into her hands, looking down at the championship’s face place.
Rebecca Brookes: After what happened at Masquerade, it made me think to myself if I am even prepared for what might be brought to the table with the roster that NLW has… and I was right, I couldn’t claim the championship spot -- twice. I couldn’t do it and it’s been eating away at me for so long and so forth, I thought about how much I needed to build myself back up and even after everything, I didn’t walk away with anything that night, I’m not going to be walking away with anything soon, and now I gotta figure out a way to find my footing again.
Again, the sigh. The same sigh heard before.
Rebecca Brookes: Clearly, I’ve got to find that footing again and believe me, I shall-- but right now, there’s a spark missing. There’s a spark that’s telling me that I need one shot, one opportunity to put me back into any title picture. Into any race for a championship. May 1st, I’ve been hearing, is when Open Fight Night II is happening and much like before, it’ll be open to those on the outside. To those not on the NLW roster. So I say this, from the bottom of my heart, people… show up.
Her stare into the camera shows how much those words were meaningful, how much she meant it, as she adjusts her posture in the chair.
Rebecca Brookes: And I don’t mean like, whoever there may be, I mean like-- The best of the best, the pinnacle of the network, the absolute top stars of them all. I want the likes of… the X*Crown Champion or the Junior Heavyweight Champion or even the Phoenix Champion or whoever there may be. I want the big names, I want to prove myself, I want to stand out. I want someone who can push me to my limits. I want someone who can truly make me go past my limits and much more.
A grin begins to grow on her face.
Rebecca Brookes: You’ve got to remember - I’ve only been doing this for little less than a year. Am I any good at it? Moderately alright at it, yeah. Sure I hold some championship now and sure I’ve held some before in this catalogue of federations on your network but if I’m doing the absolute best in the field right now… well, who knows really, you know what I mean? This is all I need to put myself back on the frontlines again and hopefully… hopefully… back in the spotlight for a championship. I missed out on going to Masquerade for the championship because of some lazy tag partners and then I missed out again because I misjudged my opponent. I don’t want that to happen again nor will I ever let that happen again.
There’s a pause. A moment of silence. Closing her eyes as she takes a deep inhale and exhale through her nose before opening them back up again.
Rebecca Brookes: Hostile Intent is the next Pay Per View, as announced earlier in the night, and you bet your ass that my intent right now is to become NLW Heavyweight or even Southern States Champion because as always -- I am looking to build my heritage, to build my legacy, to build myself to become one of the fastest rising female stars there is. They won’t say that Dakota Jennings, or Eli Dresden, or whoever there might be is the next best women's wrestler of them all. They’ll say Rebecca Brookes, because it’s always been me and it’ll always stay being me, and although you might have seen me fail at the final hurdle so many times before-
She holds her OWA Goddesses Championship up high for the camera to see.
Rebecca Brookes: I have proven time and time again that I will do whatever it might take to become champion. It’s in my blood, it’s in my nature, so come one and come all. Bring your worst, XHF Network. I’m just some rookie girl after all.
Rebecca shrugs her shoulders, reaching over behind the camera.
Rebecca Brookes: A rookie girl and a large goddamn bounty on my head.
A smile to her face as the feed then cuts to black.
MAIN EVENT - MATCH FIVE
NLW Southern States Championship Match
Nathan Parker (c) vs David Goon w/ Ricardo Goon
Given that both men had previous of throwing hands, it perhaps wasn’t a shock to see both men charge at each other and exchange right hands as the bell rang. After a number of blows were exchanged, Goon pushed Parker back and went bigger, trying a discuss lariat, but Parker ducked and as Goon spun around, Parker hit a back suplex. Parker sprung straight back up and although goon wasn’t too far behind him, Parker took advantage by dropping him with a clothesline, with is repeated another two times before Goon began to slow down, which allowed Parker to back him up to the corner, where he went in with kicks to the older Goon brother. Satisfied that he’d worn him down, he whipped Goon to the opposite corner, and tyhen went charging in, looking for his MEGAHEADBUTT, but Goon slipped out of the way, meaning Parker bounced off the turnbuckle and right into a German suplex.
With the younger, more erratic Goon, Ricardo giving him some direction and encouragement, David Goon quickly composed himself and sought to get to work on the Southern States Champion. He brought Parker to his feet in a front facelock, and lifted him up for a vertical suplex, but instead hung him up on the nearby top rope. With Parker’s face dangling, Goon bounced off the ropes ninety degrees away and came back to viciously kick Parker in the face, which also brought him collapsing back into the ring. Goon dragged him away from the ropes and made a cover for a two count.
Goon kept the offence going, dragging Parker back to his feet, he spun him around and looked to lock in a full nelson, but Parker sensed trouble and clocked him with an elbow. Goon stumbled back and Parker kept fighting back from there, knocking him further back with a headbutt and then a forearm. Goon as leaning on the ropes and Parker sent him away with an Irish whip. Parker stepped forward and as Goon came back he hit him with a side walk slam. He made a cover but Goon kicked out before two. The champion wasn’t phased and got back to his feet immediately, the challenger wasn’t staying down either, but as Parker started to stalk Goon, his brother took a swipe at Parker’s feet. Whilst it didn’t take him down, he did succeed in distracting him. Parker turned around and had some choice words for Ricardo, who of course acted like nothing had happened. This allowed David to charge at the Southern States Champion, but he saw him coming and launched him over the top rope. Goon held onto the ropes and landed on the apron, but a big headbutt sent him down to the floor.
Ricardo was on hand to break some of the fall, so David was quickly back onto his feet. As the younger Goon quickly inspected his brother for any damage, they were both taken out by Parker, who came flying over the top rope with WTF [suicide dive]. Parker landed on the pair of them so had quite a cushioned landing, and this meant he could immediate grab David Goon and roll him back into the ring. He followed, rolling him and tried a cover, but got a two count.
Parker was keen to keep damaging the challenger, so he dragged him back to his feet and immediately had him up, hitting a delayed brainbuster, making another cover for another two count. He again dragged Goon up and looked to whip him into the corner, Goon reversed and immediately charged Parker, looking to hit a running boot with him in the corner, but Parker sidestepped him, leaving Goon prone with his foot over the top rope. Goon struggled to get free, but Parker grabbed his head under his arm and dragged him backwards, taking him a couple steps and hit an inverted DDT. Another cover…another two count.
Parker’s face was filling with some frustration now, he knew Goon was a tough guy but he wanted to put him away. He stood up and considered his next move, as Goon got to his feet he knew what he wanted to do, and lifted the challenger onto his shoulder. He carried him towards the ropes, looking for Gravity Kills [bodyslam to the outside], but Goon grabbed the ropes to block this, and connected an elbow to the face of the champion. Eventually Goon slipped behind Parker, and as the champion turned around, Goon connected with a superkick. Parker didn’t go down, so close to the ropes he merely leant back onto the ropes and stumbled back forward, which allowed Goon to promptly kick him and spike him with a DDT. He covered but got a two count.
Goon sat up and took a deep breath in order to recover from Parker’s previous attacks, he got back to his feet and started to stalk Parker, the champion was struggling but managed to get to his feet, he tuned around and Goon went for a superkick, but Parker grabbed his foot. Parker spun Goon around and when he reached a full three sixty Parker doubled him over with a kick to the gut and hit a massive powerbomb! Parker didn’t hesitate in his next move, he went to the top rope, looking for his Shotgun elbow drop, but as he reached the top, Ricardo Goon climbed on the apron, getting both the distraction of the referee and Nathan Parker. Before Ricardo could do anything else he was being hauled off the apron…by Mick Dundee! Dundee had clearly seen enough of the younger Goon involving himself at every turn and was here to even the odds!
Ricardo and “Cats” started brawling on the outside, and with the referee still distracted, a now recovered David Goon pounced, putting a thumb to the eye of Parker, who was also watching the brawl on the outside. Goon climbed the corner and brought Parker crashing back to earth with a superplex. With Parker down and the impact of the superplex regaining the referee’s attention, Goon went back to the top rope and took off with Cielo Alto [frog splash], he made the cover…and just like that, we have a new champion!
[WINNER and NEW Southern States Champion: David Goon Via Cielo Alto at 15:22]
"Put Em In Their Place" By Mobb Deep starts to play as Goon rolls off Nathan Parker, Ricardo Goon has dispatched Dundee and collected the Southern States Title from the timekeeper's area, and he is the one to hand his brother his newly one championship, telling the referee he's not needed.
Dan Simmons: By hook, or by crook, it doesn't matter to these two! Regardless, we have a new Southern States champion!
Tommy West: It doesn't matter to me, nor should it matter to you how he gets the job done, Simmo! The bottom line is David Goon won, and you should respect the hell out of him for it!
David is pulled to his feet and grabs the belt from his brother, taking a moment to look at him with a satisfied grin. The Goons raise their arms aloft in celebration.
Dan Simmons: Well you and I may have to disagree on that...hold on, who's that?
The camera cuts to the entranceway. Beau Traywick, Waylon Kirk and Jolene are all stood looking at what's happened in the ring, they're talking quietly amongst themselves, occasionally a point or general motion towards The Goons, who have spotted the arrival of the New South and are staring them down.
Tommy West: We said before that these four were by no means done with each other, and with David Goon winning the Southern States Championship, the stakes have very suddenly been raised!
Dan Simmons: Folks, that's all we have time for, join us in two weeks when Leon Chant faces Eli Dresden, could we be seeing another title change hands? We'll soon find out, but for now, from me and Tommy, goodnight!
The final shot is of The Goons, David Goon very much in the centre of the shot, smugly holding his newly won Southern States title.
